We have 20 birds (chickens, guineas & ducks), and Two German Shepherds - and 5 cats. Night before last, just b4 midnight, i was just about to let the dogs in the house cuz it was 35f outside. My female shepherd was barking like crazy & her hackles were up & shaking. i look toward the stable & the motion light was on. i went outside & the ducks were out walking around, the guineas were honking, the Roosters were cackling. (the stable is just that... walls are made of only wood slats and doors with 3 metal sides. Anything can get through but thankfully up to now i've only had to deal with rats and snakes. I was so excited to see this movie and went with a friend from church. With its connection to Angel Studios, I was anticipating a little more Christian influence and a storyline more Akin to the one second after series. In my opinion, it fell short on both aspects. Most of the people I know who are homesteading do not have million dollar mansions. I have to agree that the wife’s attempts to let everyone through the gate from the gecko was a little unsettling. I did see some “gardening” with their growing of potatoes in the greenhouses and they also had orchards. I didn’t see any livestock. I had heard that this was going to be a precursor to the series but somehow felt a little bit taken advantage of at the end. I had just paid $15 for the movie ticket and then they asked to scan a QR code on the screen in order to “pay it forward” and then you could watch the first episode. I couldn’t justify paying $15 to watch each episode.
We went and saw the movie for our anniversary. :) First time in a theater in over a decade, haha! I had the same thought... I didn't see any livestock. But they definitely had gardens in the movie, and greenhouses, an orchard and grapevines. The "homestead" was unrealistic for a true survival situation, but we enjoyed the movie and look forward to watching the series as they produce episodes that continue the story. The movie definitely gave food for thought.
I went to see the homestead movie and they didn't show any livestock. They did show raised beds gardens and greenhouses. They also showed a room full of freeze dried food. So it was kind of a ket down for me.
Yes, personal security on the homestead is very important- be intentional, always keep the gate closed and locked...and have game cameras in bird houses that glow red w/ movement close enough so someone at the gate can see it.....along w/ motion lights and keeping livestock less visible from the road along w. inconsistent movement and coming and going. Thankfully I am place that keeps the neighbors, (who dont know me), guesing.....I have great neighbors- we all watch out for one another as well.
The understatement of the century. First time in several years I drove by a property I've always kicked myself for not buying when I had the opportunity, only to find the property I "almost" bought, is now 4 properties, and even worse, it seems similar has happened to the surrounding properties as well - dwellings all over the area!.. I would have been furious if I'd bought it and that had happened. You have to go WAY out to be left alone now.
I just got back from the movie…laterally. Yes, they had chickens, in a little coop for six chickens.they had orchards and a pokytunnel. They had food stored, but not well. There were a lot of issues for me: The parameter was too close to the house. When the bad guy shows up they just let him go and all operational security was gone. They let refugees stay at the gate, rather than moving them away. There was an issue with who was in charge…confusion. I really liked the movie. Firstl perimeter was too close to the house.

I haven’t seen the Homestead movie yet. I intend to, and I hear it’s worth seeing in theaters. I believe, though, that the point of the movie is to show an immediate response to domestic catastrophe. I feel they probably should’ve called it something else. They’re full on preppers it seems, but not homesteaders. We all know that given the same circumstances, we wouldn’t need to crack open the buckets of food. We’d continue to eat eggs and greens from the garden without skipping a beat. The world is in depravity. We offer on farm sales of milk. We are coming off of a dry spell, and now we are reconsidering allowing pickups again. We’ve had some sketchy folks show up unannounced to ask questions about cows. I caught them snapping pics of our lambs on their way out. This is just one example. There are others, and so we may just sell wholesale to some local stores.
Most of the milk sellers I've bought from always have a specific and limited clientele and don't advertise. Word of mouth will sell milk among people who will appreciate what you do.
@@Anamericanhomestead yes, as we do too. However, people still show up to our farm where we live. I can't imagine rolling up on someone's home unannounced, especially out here in rural America. It's always city people who are used to suburbia friendly sidewalks taking them to their neighbors. LOL we don't operate that way.
Silver Lining. Every fiat currency (money substitute) throughout history has failed and collapsed. The good news is for those that sustain life through this period. They get to create the new economic system. An economic Do-over! Second bit of possible good news. If biblical prophesy is correct and we are indeed moving through the seven seals then after a bit of chaos we (shepherds) end up in a beautiful place. Much to be thankful for. DD
Biblical prophecy is correct. However, made up explanations, out of context and using imaginative hermeneutics, are not correct. Imagination is interminable and that's why there are so many such vain interpretations. 2 Timothy 2:15-18; 2 Peter 3:13-18.
No chickens on my homestead, just one rabbit 🐇 for poo. 💩. Nothing against chickens, had them, loved them, loved the compost I got from them but I want to focus on plants and gardening first. I can go fishing for meat for now. Once all my gardens and orchards are set I will have meat birds and 3 to 6 eggers. The first year at this homestead I lived in my tiny van. Van life is easy if you own land and grow food. Now I have an 8x8 shack and a greenhouse.
"They" can try to change anything they want...and temporarily "they" might succeed. But ultimately there will be a day of judgement! And which Ham antenna do you use?
We have livestock and a few years back someone shot my ram from the road. I came home from work and my Pyrenees was up under him trying to hold him up. It was so sad because they were bestest friends. The Sherriffs dept told me basically too bad. 2 weeks later they shot up my greenhouse and again I was told that there was nothing they could do and if I returned fire I would be locked up.
I collected the spent brass and they refused to even investigate or take the brass. But my taxes double every other year and I still live on a dirt road with no trash pick up or public water or sewer. Government is the biggest criminals ever.
I saw that young woman on TiTok about her animals. That is so sad. My hens are my pets not only for egg laying. My Guineas alert me but they go into the coop with the chickens at night. I have had so much stolen from me, lots of vandalism, wifi jammers used on my cameras, SD cards wiped clean on trail cams. Neighbors dogs run loose trespassing my property and ate my chickens last eyar.
I say next year we all get together and take a shopping trip to California. We can even camp on the beach while we are there since laws are a suggestion not the rule.
In the Homestead movie there was laying chickens in a coup, but no rabbits, pigs, horses or goats. No farm equipment for harvesting grain. It would've been great if they had Joel Saladin as an advisor for the movie
Jason does have chickens at his homestead, whose house it was filmed at and he is the producer. Don't know if it made the movie or not as I haven't seen it yet.
There were chickens at the beginning. One of the families had chickens in their backyard before moving to the big homestead. The mansion is a little bit silly however the person who said there weren't gardens? They didn't watch the movie. The gardens were freaking amazing!
I haven't seen it yet. I joined Angel studios, so I'll wait until they put it up on the site. They've got the first couple of episodes of the after movie series up and I've been so tempted, but figure it might ruin the movie for me. I never spend anything on entertainment, so I splurged to support their efforts and see their movies. I've been impressed with every movie and their other content has all been really good too. I'd go to the movies, but with my disability it's hard for me to drive and sit through a movie no matter how good it is.
The lady loosing animals is heart breaking..On a small bugdet small operation would be disastrous..We used raise pigs small scale and will again..I am like you on movies..That movies trailer seems to have no real horror of war..

Dogs cameras guns to protect What you have, even if it's not a Homestead. If you can't have guns where you live ..... move somewhere where you can because this world isn't getting much better. Merry Christmas
So, if cattle rustlers are dispatched when caught... like they were back in the day, the rustling will fall to a minimum. And to anyone that says "oh you will get arrested and thrown in jail" - that is true, if you are caught. If things descent to WROL, then it will fall to the ranchers and homesteaders...
Zach we celebrate Christmas.. as the conversion of pagans. Yes, there is adaption of pagan traditions from the chosen day to the tree and lights. But that's not a bad thing the way I see it. Jesus fulfilled the stories of many profits... and Yah said He would. So, while I think it is important to keep the forever feasts, I don't understand why we shouldn't celebrate the conversion of pagans to followers of Messiah. The miracle of a virgin birth, the birth written in the stars, the birth overseen by Yah's messengers at the womb of His most favored who obeyed. I celebrate that we give gifts as Yeshua was our gift and a gift to all nations... and that this celebration replaced the debauchery and decadence of the previous pagan celebration at this same time. I don't see a reason to frown on those choosing to walk in the footsteps of Yeshua because they do so on December 25th as well. Yah took me on an awkward path to meet Yeshua... right through paganism. And I've learned a lot... and I continue to be taught. What we celebrate here is the transition of self-centered to Yah centered lives on Christmas day. ❤
We have been living with this situation for years in South Africa. It just gets worse every year. Farm murders are just swept under the rug. Livestock theft reports are a joke. You can secure it as well as you want, it does not help.
There ARE gardens in the film. But the idea that the homestead owners have NO CLUE about human nature with regard to how those outside the gate will respond when they figure out what’s really going on and not securing ALL of the borders of the property and just dismissing trespassing as “just hunters”… Is absolutely preposterous to me
I just saw the movie. In my opinion, it's a good concept, in general. I didn't see any chickens or other livestock, though they talk about a cycle in growing things and use of manure.
Agree... from a food perspective It wasnt very realistic!... they show gardens and orchards, but no meat source!! I think there was a couple chickens running around in some part of the movie! It was more of a spiritual perspective, and the masses of unprepared folks begging for help... it was entertaining... now they have a series of shows coming out. Just taking advantage of the new interest in homesteading!!
Homestead was the first movie my wife and went to see in theaters since we started homesteading over 8 years ago. It was unrealistic and not well thought out, it's supposed to be "somewhere in the middle of the Rockies", yet the 'City' zoning officer shows up with the swat team to raid the compound and take the guns and food... No livestock, but here was gardens and greenhouses, but all totally unrealistic, trying to feed people with tomatoes... The only real thing in the movie was the need for security, not that we can all have our homesteads guarded by former special forces and 30 cal. machine guns... But the threat is real, especial when stuff hits the fan.
That didn't end in my public school in Iowa until much later, plus the majority of my teachers were ex military (early 80's grad). I remember a kid getting cocky with my high school math teacher and they took it to the gym with gloves LOL. Even my kids said the pledge of allegiance and chorus was mostly church songs. California just changed their theft laws back to "normal" and their cop cars are full of crying thieves that think it's unfair to get arrested ROFL! Talk about consequences. The criminals didn't have any, but the tax paying citizens sure had consequences for those lenient decisions. I had a german shepherd and a german shepherd/pitbull mix that people feared enough, but the animals that scared even more people was a wild pair of geese and a mean rooster (who attacked me one too many times and died suddenly -oops).

The limit in California for stealing from misdemeanor to a felony was $950, but I hear that has been changed.
There's a very food reason there is so much Sun/Saturn/Mithras worship symbolism in all things "Angel" Studios.
Still living in a 8x20 trailer I built on an equipment trailer
We went and saw the movie for our anniversary. :) First time in a theater in over a decade, haha! I had the same thought... I didn't see any livestock. But they definitely had gardens in the movie, and greenhouses, an orchard and grapevines. The "homestead" was unrealistic for a true survival situation, but we enjoyed the movie and look forward to watching the series as they produce episodes that continue the story. The movie definitely gave food for thought.
There is chickens in the movie.
They’re in the backyard of the city people’s house
Exactly, but did you see any at the Homestead?
Truly it's a loss of respect. Fear and respect often look alike, but respect is voluntary and from the heart.
Well said brother.
Thanks, Zach!❤
On Homestead…they drove a Tesla to the Homestead
I went to see the homestead movie and they didn't show any livestock. They did show raised beds gardens and greenhouses. They also showed a room full of freeze dried food. So it was kind of a ket down for me.
Its time to get to know your creator and Annoint your home, land and animals
Yes, personal security on the homestead is very important- be intentional, always keep the gate closed and locked...and have game cameras in bird houses that glow red w/ movement close enough so someone at the gate can see it.....along w/ motion lights and keeping livestock less visible from the road along w. inconsistent movement and coming and going. Thankfully I am place that keeps the neighbors, (who dont know me), guesing.....I have great neighbors- we all watch out for one another as well.
We have had millions of new people come in this country the last 4 years.
They showed collecting eggs, and had the sound track for chickens. They had green house scene with potato plants, and vineyard / orchard scenes.
I just got back from the movie…laterally.
Yes, they had chickens, in a little coop for six chickens.they had orchards and a pokytunnel. They had food stored, but not well.
There were a lot of issues for me:
The parameter was too close to the house.
When the bad guy shows up they just let him go and all operational security was gone. They let refugees stay at the gate, rather than moving them away. There was an issue with who was in charge…confusion.
I really liked the movie.
Firstl perimeter was too close to the house.
In other words, they would not last long.
The chickens got bird flu and were confiscated by the government. LOL
The Ranch looked like a billionaires weekend mansion - definately not a sod busters Homestead
Happy Hump Day!! Thanks for the info!
This is sad, but you gave very wise advice! Sorry this couldn't be shared😢 I'm not out there celebrating New Year's! Thanks for your wisdom! I'm in M East TN & in a duplex so I don't have that big threat! It's low income housing & we're all thoroughly vetted! Some say you have to watch out for their friends but it's very isolated with only a few, with the others, you know are all spreaded out! I live in the Cumberland plateau's outside a very small town. Keep your eyes to the sky & stay well! 🙏🏻🎄💝🎊🙌
Happy channuka Zach
I had a teacher in the 70's that posted The Nine Commandments of Society
You’re right. Thanks for sharing.
We lived in a double wide trailer for the first 15? years. We were happy to be out of the city.
I’m in Australia… the last time I checked, perfect pickles doesn’t ship overseas 😟
Thx Zack!Shalom
"They" can try to change anything they want...and temporarily "they" might succeed. But ultimately there will be a day of judgement! And which Ham antenna do you use?
Want to watch a good homesteading movie? Watch Wilderness Family 😊
Or Swiss Family Robinson 😊
We have livestock and a few years back someone shot my ram from the road. I came home from work and my Pyrenees was up under him trying to hold him up. It was so sad because they were bestest friends. The Sherriffs dept told me basically too bad. 2 weeks later they shot up my greenhouse and again I was told that there was nothing they could do and if I returned fire I would be locked up.
I collected the spent brass and they refused to even investigate or take the brass. But my taxes double every other year and I still live on a dirt road with no trash pick up or public water or sewer. Government is the biggest criminals ever.

They ought to get back to the old days cattle rustling, catch them .. but you are right with your analogy on the situation
@@sherryn39455 your obviously not here in Texas,,,, it's STILL a hanging offence !!!
@ might be, but when’s the last time was anybody was hung for cattle rustling?
@@scubasmitty5135 right! Western justice comes back and things look alot different.
The wife and I saw the movie. Neither of us were impressed. Maybe liberal preppers? The house was too over the top for a supposed prepper.
I fear Only My Creator ,G-d ,,,,No One Else and Nothing Else
In the Homestead movie there was laying chickens in a coup, but no rabbits, pigs, horses or goats. No farm equipment for harvesting grain. It would've been great if they had Joel Saladin as an advisor for the movie
Free is for me...that's my sayin'. Just free stuff is what I'm sayin'.
Yah is our only hope!
U r so right. We r to fear God. Essential
The lady loosing animals is heart breaking..On a small bugdet small operation would be disastrous..We used raise pigs small scale and will again..I am like you on movies..That movies trailer seems to have no real horror of war..
Have all buddy system take First Aid Class; First Aid Kit ? Do you know where doctor/nurse/medic lives in your neighborhood ? Do NOT get hurt in the first place. Cheers
Great video! Merry Christmas!
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10
Dogs cameras guns to protect What you have, even if it's not a Homestead. If you can't have guns where you live ..... move somewhere where you can because this world isn't getting much better.
Merry Christmas
Amen sir, I'll wait for the movie come out on line
Facts. Keep being extreme brother 😄. Shalom.
Synagogue of satan
Even if the thieves were caught nothing would happen to them in Jared Polis’s Colorado.
I figure it's just free hog feed that delivers itself. And the teeth and bones can be converted into a useful liquid supplement for the garden.
Shalom from Rogers, Arkansas.
Synagogue of satan, eh?
No fear.. hmmm. A time of accountability will come. The less prepared the worse the consequences.
Naw - most people will die trying to shame marauders
We are going to put an electric fence around our livestock specialty during the night.
When youre asleep at 3 am after a hard day - sleepin right tnrough the geese squawkin, dogs barkin and cattle mooing - aint hard to do
It keeps getting worse.
gee thanks, I do not have to waste any money.
We have been living with this situation for years in South Africa. It just gets worse every year. Farm murders are just swept under the rug. Livestock theft reports are a joke. You can secure it as well as you want, it does not help.
I'm waiting for Amazon too to see the movie. 😂😂😂 They're trying to speed up the starvation.
There was nothing on water containment. His place wasn’t fenced all the way around his place. Yeah not worth 15.00 a ticket. I should have waited.
I saw Homestead the other day with my wife. It was ok. The ending isn't really an ending because they're continuing the story in a TV show.
Don't you think the govt could be behind the thefts?
Open border the government's behind that
Does not matter who stole the animals; they were not secure.
Yes they are by helping the illegals come here
Dark to Light: A Shot Heard Round the World
That didn't end in my public school in Iowa until much later, plus the majority of my teachers were ex military (early 80's grad).

I seen the movie and yea no livestock Its a romanticize homestead .also not to give away to much if your going to see it but i have mixed feelings about letting extra people in my fence 🤷♀️
True, saw the movie, no livestock or chickens. Wondered how they existed on no protein. Also, the ending was very naive. Don't think you can just open your gate for all to join you during a nuclear disaster.
There were chickens. Just in a tiny coop that all us with chicken experience know it was animal cruelty.
Ilegals stole those animals period
That was my thought too. It’s a sanctuary state.
With all of the immigrants now and Noone watching after them it can only get worse.
