    I tottaly agree with your decision. I also know how much you love your bmw, as i am an owner too, but i will dare to recommend changing her for the new multi v4s. I fell in love when i saw her.

    good decision , but will you change your mind if you demo the Triumph? After years of sports/ race bikes i've now got a Honda Africa Twin, for me and my good lady, love that bike. BUT still want some excitement, so I've ordered the KTM 890R, due in April. Interested to know if you have adjusted sag, rebound etc for your weight? Ride safe....if not, then with one wheel in the air!!!

      I had someone check the suspension for me since I have very limited knowledge on te subject. It rides fine straight out the box so no complaints from me. Congrats on the order, I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

      As far as keeping it when the Triumph comes out, I can't make any promises, I'll have to exercise some strong self control.

    I also have an 890R, if you go into the setting on the bike through the dash you can tell the bike that you installed LED turn signals and it will fix the fast blinking and the error message.

      I'm jealous Joe, enjoy man! The track is Harris Hill Raceway just south of Austin TX. I already rode it with the KTM once and it rocked there, looking to get quicker. My trip to deals gap is not until the first week of June, so still a bit to get there, but I'll have a couple of track days in between to keep me entertained.

    Why didn't go for the 1290R SD ? The Real Beast when it comes to power and easy wheelies.

    Yes! Keep it. Two things: 1. Need mountain twisties to justify...come to Asheville, and we'll double Duke it on 890s. 2. Through much trial and error, I've found that 20 ohm 50w resistors are the fix for the signal error message and fast screen blink rate. Neither 3 ohm nor 6 ohm work, but 20 ohm does. US models cannot be put into LED mode at the dealer.

      @@CubanRider Nice. The Dragon should be your backyard! So, you found smooth wheelies out of track mode. Are you in street or sport here? I'm trying to learn the Duke, and I'm thinking, how are you clutching it at that rev with traction control on unless it's sport mode. Are you rear breaking it here...?

      @@hardpattern here I'm on track mode, but with the throttle setting on street. Traction control is still on, but wheelie control is disabled. No rear braking, just keeping balance. Check out the new video doing wheelies with the R1250GS, I do a few wheelies on the 890 towards the end where I'm starting to practice the rear brake.

      @@CubanRider Thanks, man. That makes sense. I haven't experimented with track mode too much yet except for straight out...had the Duke for 1 month. Yea, I had watched the R1250 video when I wrote. Nice ownership in 15 minutes of the "other" BMW. You must be starting to go higher, and now it's time for the rear brake.

    890r is indeed very sexy, but im more keen to get the mt09. Has lots of torque and that cp3 is just music to the ears. You should testride the mt09 someday

    I have a 2020 Super Duke R and I have ridden a friend's 890R (3T up in the rear) in tight twisty roads here in the Bay Area, CA. The 890R is sublime on tight and goaty roads, due to low weight and more suspension travel, but it is far less exhilarating than the punch the SDR has, which also feels more substantial as a bike and with better build quality. I know the SDR is like 30lbs more from the upcoming speed triple, but I am curious whether you have tried the 2020+ SDR? It does handle like a superbike, compared to the previous gens.

      I haven't ridden the new one yet, but have watched plenty of reviews to know it's very good. I've got plenty of substantial with the XR, so the 890 fills a nice spot for the tighter stuff.

    I got one of the first 890s last spring and I’ve been so happy with it but when that new triple came out I couldn’t stop thinking about it but it’s like five grand more is it really worth $5000 more... if you do get your hands on one I would love to hear what you have to say about it thanks for the cool content my man✌🏻👊🏼

    I'm biased af, I'll admit it, but I listened to that "bumble bee in a coffee can" lifting the front end at 1:36 and snorted in my drink. Come on. That compared to a 1200cc trumpet? Nope, no comparison. Speed Triple RS all the way.

      It's one aspect of the bike where the Triumph shines for sure. To be fair Triumph triples are some of best sounding bikes ever, but it's also subjective.

    Have your local KTM dealership put it LED MODE. Also, have you gone into a dealership for software updates? I took my 890 in a week ago and there was a ton of software updates for download.

      Thanks Brett, I've been meaning to take it in. I'll swap the front to LED as well and ask for the LED mode, although I've read that only some LEDs work with their mode, others still give the fault.

    The dealer needs to put the indicators into LED mode as Brett Wilson commented earlier. What was the check engine light in the end?

      Not sure, this is the 3rd time that it triggers the light, but the bike runs great and it goes away after a couple of key cycles. I am planning to bring it in to the local dealership to have them check it.

    What's up from New York City Cuban? How would you stack-up your 890 to the 1290? Why didn't you go for the 1290? Just curious. I know I've seen you ride the 1290 on your channel and you looked like you were very impressed with the machine.

      Personally, I passed on the 1290. I have a couple bigger bikes and really didn't have the need for all of that. Plus sometimes the smaller ones are just more fun. When I get on my 890 it's a day of playing around. When I get on my 1125 sport bike it's more of a serious commitment with occasional near death experiences.

    Only sell it to buy a new 890 Duke R or a SuperDuke 1290 evo R , in Track mode put the Anti Wheelie mode off to do real wheelies .

    I have the 890R as well. I had an FZ-10 prior to this. Torque numbers are similar but the twin spins the torque WAY sooner. It's amazing. How many miles are you at?

    Any advice for someone looking at an 890r? Are all those check engine lights a concern lol Or have you found anything better for the money? I love nakeds, but the older I get the more wind protection has its appeal

      I never fell in love with how the bike looked, and it did shut down on me a couple of times when warm. Otherwise it didn't really gave me headaches and I ran it hard. I sold it to buy the Speed Triple 1200 because I like how the Triumph look a lot, but it has given me nothing but headaches. I'm planning to trade in the Triumph soon and get me something else. Another 890 is high on my list of bikes.

    I am enjoying my 790 but have a question for you. It died today at a stoplight with a message on the screen, “Immobilizer failure “. Ever had that? It happened after just 1 mile of riding.

      Ah, the joys of KTM ownership. Immobilizer issues are usually solved with a battery charge. Some others have had to get the dealership to replace it. Mine died while idling today, check engine light came on after next restart. It usually goes away on its own so I don't pay it much mind, but this time I felt a bit of fuel cut while riding, so time to bring it in, there's definitely something amiss with it.

      @@AmenCornerRider the problem seems to come from lower voltage, so just charging it should fix it. I would swap it for a lithium one, a little more costly but much cheaper and keep their charge for longer time. I'm actually planning to buy a lithium for mine in the next few weeks.

      @@AmenCornerRider I had that once after stalling it. Never happened again. Sometimes my KTM's throw errors when I try to start them up too quickly before they go through the boot process. I also get errors sometimes with my 1190 Adv when I try to start it too quick after turning the key on.

    Have you had any issues with the 890? I'd get one but i've heard that the crankshaft leaks oil like crazy.. that and they are made in China...

      It's currently at the dealership for a check engine light, will make a video after it. Some of the bikes have leaked from the crankcase seals, but mine have not had that issue. Mine is a 2020 so it was assembled in Austria.

      @@CubanRider Awesome Ultimate SPORTS Tourer, just needs a couple tweaks to be perfect. Gearing is too tall for tight stuff & have to disconnect flapper valve to get low rpm torque. I got the 2021 Base Model not the factory, bought it 5th December and clocked up 4,000 kilometres b4 xmas then crashed my 890 Duke R on the 4th January can't ride for 6-8 weeks now.

      @@CubanRider Wrist, plus small internal fracture on hip & elbow. First On road accident in 40 years of riding. Tank slapper then high side on rough straight road. vid on my channel of bike damage.

    Hey, did you fix the blinker issue with 20 Ohm resistors, and when you get a check engine light for some other issue, how are you deleting it?

      I have the resistors now, but I have yet to mess with it.

      The fault goes away as soon as you turn off the blinker. This is much preferable to the BMW that keeps a constant light on the dash
