Sinistcha is Actually Amazing. Here's Why.

  • Pokemon Competitive Singles has been turned on it's head with the upcoming release of the "Hidden Treasure of Area Zero" DLC. Poltchageist and Sinistcha are a Convergent species of the Sinistea line, and some of the most interesting new additions.
Sinistcha with its amazing new signature move "Matcha Gotcha", the very useful and fitting ability Heatproof, and great boosting and utility options, might just be an excellent new Threat in the Gen 9 OU metagame.
Or maybe not, power creep is a real thing. This seems great to me though.
Iron Mugulis and Iron Fellow know all about it.

My Outro is a remix made by me that I submitted to the Viper Rapper TH-cam channel:
    • Viper - You'll Goin Ma...
Some will never figure out how to get Sinistcha in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. But famous player Jim Cool is well aware of the Best Sinistcha Moveset in Competitive, and even how to Sinistcha Shiny Farm. Many aren't and never will be. That's just the unfortunate reality of the world.
    Arceus exists.
The below text is very relevant to many people.
Game Freak just blew all other online game development schools out of the water with this incredible new 2022 release. You're gonna need to get a game design degree online, and FAST, if you want to make a better game than this. Not even the best strategy games android reddit could hold a candle to this breathtaking Next generation competitive Pokemon experience.
Scream Tail is the Jigglypuff of our wildest dreams. It has been buffed with some higher statistics and the incredible ability, Protosynthesis. Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on TH-cam. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

The reason the evolution stages are the reverse of polterlageist is that it's not the same pokemon, as in the sinischa line isn't a regional form of Polteageist, but a convergent evolution. While Polteageist is a spirit possessing the tea, sinischa is the tea cups themselves come to live, if I recall correctly. Hope that helps!

Sinistea and Sinistcha are both teacups filled with tea. Polteagheist and Poltchagheist are both containers that hold the tea. The naming actually makes perfect sense. What doesn't make sense is the direction of their evolution.
      Matcha powder > Matcha tea
      Makes more sense than
      Cuppa tea > Potta Tea
Sinistea just gets bigger when it evolves.
Poltchagheist isn't even a beverage until it evolves.

Poltchageist is like the equivalent for the teapot in the world of Japanese tea so the naming convention might be Polt...geist for the pot and Sinist... for the cup. The British ones had the cup evolve into the pot because the pot is so much bigger.
Poltchageist is based off the tea caddies from Japanese tea ceremonies called chaki which hold the matcha powder but not the hot water. As such, they can be smaller in size to the drinking cup, the chawan, that Sinistcha is based off. Sinistcha also incorporates the whisk (chasen) used to mix the powder and water in the cup as its headgear. This means that both evolved forms is where the brewing happens so there is some consistency due the differing preparation methods.

Its also theorized that The Pokemon Company International has just done this to mess with us. It could even be the sinister work of Iron Mugulis, who has recently been spotted inside of Game Freak's development headquarters. Researchers and criminal detectives are looking into this.

Actually MG's issue with inconsistent accuracy can be avoided by some smart plays. If you really do need to get some healing that crucial turn, you could just use Strenth Sap instead. It not only provides more significant healing, but also consistently weakens the opponent. Once your opponent is weakend enough to deal only below 50% damage, that's when you start spamming MG. If it misses, you could just Strenth Sap back to full health next turn.

A 20% burn chance with 90% accuracy is really interesting! Not that many attacks have a 20% chance of a secondary effect, so I had to look up what moves have that in order to get a good comparison. Its essentially the chance of a shadow ball spec def drop, or a dark pulse flinch, but is actually a little less than that because the attack can miss too.
I think the 20% chance will probably disappoint some people who try to treat this move like scald, but the fact that it has STAB and heals more than makes up for the downside. The burn is more of a secondary bonus that might make opponents think twice about switching in, as opposed to the selling point of the move. I'm gonna guess this mon ends up UU with an OU niche. Its probably going to be pretty metagame dependent, since base 70 speed, a weakness to knock off, and inconsistent healing will really hold it back a bit. However, if used well on the right team I think it has potential to be terrifying.

It may be weak to Ice Spinner and Knock, but not all Tusks run those moves so they can free up room for other moves such as Bulk Up, Rapid Spin, Head Smash, or Stealth Rock

It definitely is far more versatile than Poltegeist, and the Utility is there. I could see it having a place on Stall teams that struggle with Bulky offence and Semi Stall, but it seems to have trouble against Full Stall and Hyper Offense.

I can only assume they reordered the evolution to fit with the narrative they wrote for Polchageist. Polchageist is the cursed container the matcha is made in, and therefore corelates to the teapot. After cursing people and completing the matcha, it is the ready and can be poured into a cup, corelating to the teacup.
I suppose ironically the original pair could have been switched too given that logic.

Honestly, I'm exited for the new meta. There are so many new pokemon, as well as many new strategies. Yes, my favorite dark type (before gambit) wevile is back at full power with knock off and icical spear and alolan ninetails is back, but there are mons like shifty and empoleon that got new abilities like wind rider and competitive. It's gonna be really cool to see all the options available with flc waves 1 and 2, and it doesn't seem like the new ledgends will be destroying the their either. They're decent, but not overwhelming.
