Hi! I'm the bass player in the video and I'm glad you enjoy it....back in the '70s I travelled and performed in Norway, including Bergen. The group was New Hope and we were there several times. I love Norway and would like to visit again sometime. Blessings to you. Lee Jones
Hi lee, My name is Jerry Stanley and I am working on a documentary about Love Song, the band and the Jesus Movement. Any idea about who to contact to find higher quality recordings of the footage? I worked with Barry, 2nd Chapter, K. Green and others back in the day.
As a young girl, I fell in love with the exceptionally anointed music ministry of The 2nd Chapter of Acts. Even back then, I was fully aware that their music was way ahead of its time. I also recognized that their music was prophetic, and timeless, which prepared me for the decades of immense hardships in my life that were to come: Major illness, losing my parents, my sibling, and other family members, as well as a multitude of beloved friends, etc. When I listen to 2COA today, no matter where I am in my life, in my faith walk, the Holy Spirit uses this anointed, timeless, classic music, to instantly draw my soul back into a healthy, first love relationship with Jesus once again. That's the beauty of this timeless, God-given gift to the body of Christ, it is like an overflowing fountain of fresh, living water from the Holy Spirit every time I hear these sweet, yet, powerful songs of love, healing, encouragement, comfort, and inspiration from the heart of God. Philippians 1:6 I am convinced confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].
What a comfort it is to know that my wife is now with Him in her "mansion" He built for her...she passed away from cancer two weeks ago tonight. God bless you all even though this was years ago!
I am so sorry for your loss. My wife also passed after having two strokes this summer and then they discovered cancer. She died on August 17, 2018. This song brings me lots of comfort as well. Peace to you.
My heart joins both of yours as my wife of 45+ years passed away from a very aggressive sarcoma on March 9th, 2019. She led me to the Lord in June, 1972, & we were married in June, 1973. This group and music has meant SO much to me and saw 2nd Chapter of Acts, Keith Green, Randy Stonehill & others live. I praise Him for her life & legacy of faithfulness ..... and she is occupying the mansion that He prepared for her now...........
Same. I still remember being 7 or 8, sitting between my mom's piano and the stereo, listening to Singer Sower, after seeing them live. I got to see them a few years later as well, and got Matthew Ward's autograph. Even today he is my favorite singer of all time, and listening to 2nd Chapter of Acts always brings out in me a spirit of worship.
Matthews harmonies are off the chart crazy!! No rhyme, no reason and no structure!! Lol. All over the place but still incredible !! Not even replicated!
My husband and I were teenagers during these years,he went home to his saviour last year,so many precious memories came flooding back, thank you. Chris.
So good to hear that you played with the group New Hope. They traveled to Europe and also to Holland. This was the first Christian group I ever heard and my first contact with christians! I became one myself later but that music touched my heart! I looked all-over on internet to find music or clips from them! It was so good as well! Thank you that you Americans came to Europe with that great message! 'Clapp your hands all you people, shout unto God with a heart of triumph!" Peter Kamans
Glory to God! What amazing sweet harmonies. I remember this song from when I was first saved in 1979. The message is especially poignant and precious to me as one who knew the Lord fell away and by His mercy and grace made it back. Thanks for posting this.
So happy to find this! When I was a new Christian in 1977 I heard this. It has stayed in my heart since. The melody and lyrics come back to me again and again. I also agree with those comments here about those groups who had a great enough faith not to charge but accept an offering for their concerts - yes, they need to earn a living and should but when gospel singers charge for the gospel it weakens the message because it excludes those Jesus elevated - the poor! Thank you so much Lee jones for posting this and as I've learned from comments here performing with them - such beautiful sweet sounds to my mind, ears and heart!!
I played this wonderful song and others from 2nd Chapter of Acts during the early 1980's here in South Africa and what a blessing! It carried me though many trials. Superb group and good sound Christian music- not like the watered-down music that one mostly gets nowadays. This speaks to the heart and has clear, wonderful and powerful lyrics. Yes Jesus is coming and we are going to that CLEAR CRYSTAL LAKE IN THE SKY! Maranatha Jesus!
i'm 35 so all of this music during the Jesus Movement is a little before my time buuuuut it's good stuff and also it's historically important too! we could sure stand to see a revival like we had back then.
God bless Annie, Nellie and Matthew! CCM would not be what it is today without these three individuals. And to think Annie became a Christian in her mid 20's and THEN learned to play piano. She ended up writing most if not of all their music.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful song. I remember going to the Last Day Ranch in Lyndale, Texas and watching you guys play many songs. I was blest back then, and I’m blest now in hearing this song again. Godspeed!
This is so beautiful. Praise God I got to hear it live a few times. Thank you for posting this awesome trail blazing video of this song. I hope today Buck can appreciate Keith for not charging for the gospel.
This is still one of my favorite trios! Saw them in person in the 1980's. It was an amazing concert. My husband and I were the oldest people in the concert hall. It was attended by youth groups mostly. It was loud, rocky and wonderful!!!
I got to see them live back in the early '80's and their equipment truck had gotten stuck in the Mississippi mud on the way. They did the entire concert with just their voices and Annie on piano (which was already on the stage). Needless to say, it was a fantastic concert! Thanks for uploading.
Thank you for posting this great video. The first time I listened to this song was when my family and I were getting to a church called New Covenant Fellowship in San Antonio TX. during a vacation in Jan.1981.This song was playing on a 4 track car stereo, great for that time. Anyway, still a great song! Greettings from Costa Rica!
Thank you for sharing this video! Second Chapter of Acts was my first live concert experience! Still a great song, and so perfectly relevant for us in these Latter Days. God bless you all 😊
I was just a kid back then and I've been to some great concerts in my life, but nothing ever compares to 2nd Chapter of Acts. I've seen SCC, Amy, M.W., Rich, Cindy M etc..., but I've never felt the holy spirit more than at one of their concerts. It was more of a church service than a concert. I guess that's why they took offerings instead of selling tickets. I can't knock the artists today for making a living, but God provides for those who preach his word and not just perform it.
Yes, we truly worshiped at they're concerts in the late 70's....they were the angels of worship (yes, I know they are human).....they're concerts were safe and we as teens/early 20's so sense and knew they were right when they sang " there are those amongst us, who will never die"
Always liked the bass rift in this really did not expect to find the songs I remembered of these guys on here, glad I have though. Always had great harmonies that come from the soul.
I also saw them on Ross Bagwell show. I also had this album and listened to it over and over again. Use to sing in my bed room with my hair brush as a mic. Oh the memories I have. Love this group! Their voices were/are so angelic.
Such a wonderful, beautiful song. Such a wonderful, beautiful promise. It is what I live for! As this world grows steadily, more insane. This is often, all that holds me together.
Thanks.....I was not the bass player for A Band Called David. That was Herb Melton, and I think the bass lines were created as a combination of Annie's keyboard lines (completely unschooled but classically very sophisticated) Herb's style and also Michael Omartians influence was real strong. Leland Sklar also had alot to say I'm sure as he played on several of the recordings, maybe this one too. I came later ('84-'88) and played on the Hymns albums, Matts solo album and Far Away Places.
Thank you for being a part of 2nd Chapter of Acts ministry! Info on "A Band Called David" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Band_Called_David). Was privileged to have attended Church on the Way and fellowshipped with Michael/Stormie Omartian, Buck Herring and countless others that totally humbled me - a fellow of musician about countless levels below the talent of these gifted music warriors for Jesus!
This looks like MIDWEST JESUS in Sandwich, Illinois and I was there with my family. I was there with my family, As I remember Matthew Ward sang his Armed & Dangerous songs. Thank you so much for posting it.
Our college Christian fellowship group from SUNY Potsdam all went down to see them at the Syracuse War Memorial in 1979 if my memory is correct? Most of us were really spellbound when we saw them, I know they made quite an impression on me. I had been saved for three years but had not really come across people with such a great passion for God until that year in college. It felt like it was a whole new world for me, I wanted to burn for God also!
@psalmofpraise Hi! 2nd Chapter is one of my all-time fave's - I was a new Christian in 1974 and cut my spiritual & musical teeth on their music. Have u heard of the DVD of a reunion of many of the Pioneers of early Jesus music, called "First Love"? You can find it on CBD's website and it also comes with a CD of all the songs they do. It was done in 2003 I believe and each person/group did 2 or more songs of theirs. Barry McGuire, Andrae Crouch, Honeytree, Love Song, Randy Stonehill & others...
i got saved in february 1976. i also turned 26 that year, & this year i turned 62...are we using different calenders, lol? anyway, rock on, Everybuddy, & love & forgive because He Is Coming SOON! (:D
@psalmofpraise I love this group as well-was a new Christian in '74 & cut my spiritual & musical teeth on their music. Ever heard of the 2003 DVD reunion of the early pioneers of Jesus music called "First Love"? Barry McGuire, Randy Stonehill, Honeytree, Love Song, many more perform songs & have testimonies as they recall the early days. Very powerful. Can be obtained on CBD website. Also comes w/CD of the music performed.
Lee, Hello Brother in the Lord and the Bass! What year was this performance? I love your chordal runs and fills on Mansion Builder. Thanks for posting these.
Thanks, to answer your questions, most of the parts I was playing in these videos were taken from the recorded versions although I had a fair amount of freedom to embelish them, and I did. When I played on their albums (3 of them) the structure of the song was there but I created the bass parts, and they either liked them or they asked me to try something else. That was rare however. I never met Keith Green, but his wife Melody kept my kids at her house while I was travelling sometimes.
What happened? The Fallen have returned, I believe. Sadly, most believers like to use the word Metaphor when the Holy Scriptures talk about these heavy matters. And because of this disbelief the Fallen and their servants the Order, Brotherhood, find no resistance. The world is once more under their control. But it's more than politics. It's also science. Sadly, most Christians under 35 have no clue who these great artists are who came before them. The world preserves the memory of its singers by way of oldies radio stations. Thank you for this scripture. Often in my walk through life, I has succumbed to the flesh. This scripture gives me hope and so does this song.

I grew up with the 2nd Chapter of Acts, and their music has always been a blessing to me.
I saw them in Norfolk 1985, and at Rock Church 1987. Great harmonies, love this trio!

What a memorable tune to sing this old time favorite song as I grew up in my teens/young adult. Yes, God is my mansion builder.

This song was played at my wife's funeral after being her husband for over 40 years... this song and many others were inspirational to us...
Grew up with the 2nd Chaple of Acts...wonderful music!
I always loved their ministry .. they touched so many people... We organised a concert for them in Switzerland and it was a blessing!

Lovely to always be reminded that that my Lord, Savior and Mansion Builder ain't finished with me yet!
By faith I look forward to seeing that heavenly mansion and You, Jesus. I love You!

Everyone remember KYMS FM radio? Great music, Bible Answer Man...seminal in its influence of the 70's Christian scene.
Heard this first time in 1978. Bleeding then and now
wow! this takes me back and yes! this is timeless!
Matthew Ward is a legend in this song!
My grandma loved this band and Keith.
Awe-inspiring and consoling😇🙏🙏🙏
There's nothing like old school contemporary gospel music. ( 70s - 90s )
I got goosebumps! Love the lyrics
Grupo abençoado por Deus. Um lindo louvor!
Great song!

One of my favorites from the Jesus Movement days. Are they still together?
This was the best group around during that time. Sad that they stopped.
Anothere of their materpices that never gets old💖
Wow. This video played ok for me last time I saw it recently. Now the music ends halfway through.
Hé Ingrid van Grootel, wat leuk om dit hier te zien!
Cool!
I saw Annie in concert a few years ago - -
Just wasn't the same without her sister and brother.
They were really good together as a group.
@Llelandj thanku so much for this they are still so inspiring.
Plus the sister are lovely. God was having good days when they were made.
Me too. What happened to this world? Maranatha!!!!!

I've seen them many times (Albuquerque N.M.) 1976-1979 or so, where are they now?
I went to a concert if there's in the early '70s it was great
so good!! :)
I was there for this. I was 7. I got the piano players autograph.
What a blast from the past. Did you get saved back then? Are you still living for Jesus now?
(:D That's Annie Heering singing! (:D
Awesome!
