Jan thanks for the tutorial for burp cloths. I made some using a cloth diaper for many years but I’m ready for a new idea! Looking forward to making these! I’m about to become a grandma for the 8th time! Enjoy being a grandma! It’s the best!
Jan, Congratulations! How wonderful & what a great time you will have with your grandaughter - maybe in time teaching your creative skills too. what fun! Also thankyou for showing me how to master a mitre corner- I have always messed up & avoided , but now age 66 years I have learnt how…. Will be off to my sewing room today to practice & put in my sample box with instructions too A joyous occasion to be sure! Regards and thanks from Uk.J.
Ahhh, congratulations, Jan on the upcoming grandbaby! I just added the Grandma title in August. It IS the best! I am excited for you! Fun fact, I found your channel about a year ago, when I was searching for sewing projects & binge watched them all! Am excited to see what projects you'll be making for YOUR Grandbaby! As always, thanks for sharing your talent! You're a wonderful teacher!
Thank you! You are so kind! Oh baby, I have so many ideas and things I want to make for this little. I already had a lot of things made just waiting for a grandchild. (Years). It is exciting.
Congratulations!! On becoming a grandma!! I had a beautiful grandson in February and he loves the fabric balls and blocks that I've made with the rattle inside. I also made burp cloths. These things are such fun to make and I love watching the baby use them. Please keep us updated when the big day gets here!
Thank you! That is so fun that you have made the balls, blocks and bibs. I will definately let y'all know when the big day is here. Have a wonderful week.
Love these tutorials!! I am due to have our baby on January 17th and I have considered taking on some beginner-friendly sewing DIY projects like blankets, bibs, burp towels, etc. I will definitely be taking lots of advice from your channel when I get some downtime from work! Thank you!!
Jan, is this the same mitered corner on the two sided flannel receiving blanket from a few years ago? I loved those and made several for my youngest grandson who is now 3. I now have a great grandson that has been born ten weeks early. He is only 2 pounds 13 ounces and a swaddle blanket sounds like it may works for him but I am not sure exactly how to use it instead of a normal receiving blanket. Can you explain? Also anyone have ideas for helpful items for my new little great grand boy that I can make? Thanks Jan
You are so welcome! This is a different method than the double layer blanket that you made previously. Wow, that is a little one! There are video demos of how to wrap the babies in these swaddle blankets on TH-cam. I do have several other baby projects on my channel and website. youmakeitsimple.com/?s=baby
Wonderful tutorial ty. I was given single layer gauze fabric. What can I use it for? All tutorials call for double gauze. It had baby ducks on it and the other is solid yellow. I would appreciate any advice you can provide for me. Ty
I think I have that same gauze with the ducks. I was made a grandma just yesterday and gave her a cozy blanket made from that gauze fabric. I wanted to do a tutorial, but didn't have time. Here is what I did. I used the single gauze fabric, a layer of low-loft poly fill batting, and a cozy polyester knit waffle type fabric that was sooooo soft. I tied it with a fine crochet thread. (little knots with short ties every 3 inches. Oh my, after I washed it the guaze shrunk down and crinkled so nicely. I wanted to wrap myself in it. You can use the single gauze fabric in combination with other fabrics or another layer of it. I hope that was helpful.
After making more, I wouldn't bother pressing all the way around. I've been just pressing and pinning the corners then sewing the miter, then topstitching.

No, this is a different method than the self-binding technique. I was made a new grandma yesterday and I've been making all kinds of fun baby stuff. You can see my baby patterns and tutorials here. If you google how to swaddle a baby, there are a tone of fun videos. As soon as my little grandbaby is old enough to video, I'll do a quickk tutorial as well. Let me know if you have any further questions. Starter fabric. The simplest brilliant idea I’ve needed for many years. It could have saved me so many rat’s nests at the beginning of seams.
Awesome, glad it was helpful.
Thank you for the very helpful tutorial!

I have the same problem. I also have single gauze that’s so darn cute. I hope someone answers this question.
@@annablock8037 I’ve been asking for ideas for about a year. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. I ve never worked with gauze.

Would you still recommend pressing the hem all the way around even though it doesn't last?

Someone else asked this question and I have to ask also. I have single gauze and really want to use it for some baby swaddles. Any suggestions?
