    Love that 1150. Might just have to get one. Something to plan for a winter trip so we could exchange our Lance 960 for one of them bad boys. 😉 That Denali Rugged Mountain is on our dream list too but who knows.

      Hey there! That 1150 is sure nice. We have a huge dream list of campers and trucks. 🤣 I heard that the newest Arctic Foxes finally have an updated color scheme. Of course, a lot of people hate any change. But I’m excited to see one in person since I think they’re way past due for something more modern.

    I bought my 2016 Arctic Fox 1150 Camper for 23 used in 2019. I put about 10K in solar which includes the labor cost and consists of 6 Battle Born 100's, about 1200 watts of solar and a Victron 3000 inverter. I do have a generator, but, barely use it. The camper is huge for just me, but, I love it. I can't imagine getting a new one. But, thanks for the looks.

    • @CupcakeChroniclesTC
      @CupcakeChroniclesTC  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dang! That’s an impressive amount of solar! We can see why you rarely need a generator. The 1150 has a huge amount of space too. Sounds like a great setup. Let’s go camping sometime!

    Ikea has the Luroy slatted bed base, which is as close to what you can get in the froli system, and it's $50 bux.
    Most all of the campers now are coming with 350-400 watts of solar because the fridges are all 12v now... so take that for what it is. Looked like Adventurer was using up the last of their stock propane fridges.
    On your oven, I haven't done it yet but a few different people told me about placing a baking stone at the bottom rack of oven and so that will soak up heat and hold more evenly at bottom of stove. Another piece of clutter for the camper I guess but supposed to work decent.

    • @CupcakeChroniclesTC
      @CupcakeChroniclesTC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey Todd. It’s always good to hear from you! We heard about that IKEA bed base too. It’s a decent price and probably pretty light weight.
      You know we think solar is the way to go for sure. And yeah it does seem like Adventurer is using up the propane fridges. 12v fridge is appealing to us. If ours ever takes a dive, we’ll lean toward one.
      We also haven’t put the tile in the oven although we’ve talked about it. We don’t bake super often. And the damn thing doesn’t even like to stay on. It hasn’t been a great experience with our stove. Steve is going to replace the thermocouple and see if that helps. But honestly, I’m pretty good to just use it for storage 😆.

      @CupcakeChroniclesTC I like my propane fridge for the boonedocking factor, and ultimately, I think the 3 way ones are the best bc who doesn't love more options. Before all these manufacturers ousted propane on a whim... they should've taken 3 or 7 minutes to think about exactly who is insane enough to purchase a truck camper between $55(entry level)-95k 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
      You didn't miss much by not seeing Lance. The last small batch of brand new one's I saw at a dealer came complete from factory with ext delamination bubbles and loose/falling off trim all over the inside. For now we like the 2007 AF990

    • @CupcakeChroniclesTC
      @CupcakeChroniclesTC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ToddStull Propane for boondocking is nice. It’s crazy what these new campers cost. Between the camper and the truck it’s a ton of cash 💰😲.
      That surprised us about the Lance. We saw the 2023 ones at last years RV show and they looked nice inside. They’re all so close together at those shows that you can’t see much of the exterior. I’m feeling disappointed in the poor quality you saw!

    • @ToddStull
      @ToddStull 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @CupcakeChroniclesTC I did recently contact Arctic Fox with a suggestion/complaint that they don't have any non-slide model in-between the 865 and the 990 where you can still have the back wrap and generator if you have a long box truck. They actually did reply back and said that they have some things in the works with that and to keep checking back. So, at least they are listening. I'd actually love basically a 990 without the slide, tho to take off a solid 500 lbs or so of weight.

    • @CupcakeChroniclesTC
      @CupcakeChroniclesTC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ToddStull A 990 without the slide would be just about perfect. We’d go no-slide if we were doing it over.

    If you're 6'3" tall, and "solidly built" you need a Northern Lite 10-2. Headroom is 6'8" except under the A/C where it's 6'5". The bathroom is taller too. N-L campers last forever, so you pay more, but they last 2-3x as long. Also maintenance costs are lower as there is only 1 seam to maintain and the roof is solid fibreglass, not TPO. It doesn't require special cleaning materials, can't get torn by tree branches and since it's one piece, won't leak at the seams, or edges. Also, it's good to -20, I'd hate to try that in abything other than a N-L or maybe an Adventurer. The basement on both of those is heated, so your tanks, lines and valves won't freeze.

      I like to think of myself as “husky.” 😂the AF 990 gives me a lot of headroom in the living space and bedroom. I can stand up in the bathroom, which is a nice bonus. I’ve not looked at the northern lite, but I’m all about more headroom. The northern lites look amazing! Thanks for writing!

    I would like to preface my comment by saying that I use my camper for summer weekend camping only, not full time living. The price of these campers are ridiculous!! A little over a year ago I bought a used 1980's camper from a one owner elderly couple for $1,000 in good shape. Always stored under cover and never leaked. It was that ugly 70's and 80's brown and cream color so we painted the exterior white and a turquoise blue. Then we painted the entire interior, installed new flooring, a new fantastic fan, new mattress, new backsplash behind the sink and stove, added two 150w each solar panels on the roof along with a new controller, two new batteries. The two way three burner stove with oven works great, so does the fridge and water heater. Actually, everything works great. We have a TOTAL of $3,500 into this camper and it looks brand new inside and out after we finished working on it. It has lots of room with a nice layout and fits a full size 8 foot bed. It doesn't have a bathroom though. But we only use it a couple times a summer for weekend camping and for hunting season so I bought a nice composting toilet for it. No way would I ever pay these ridiculous prices for these new campers!!

      Your setup sounds Phenomenal!! When we bought Cupcake, we looked at older versions. But we were in Colorado (during the Shutdown) and all tools were in Portland in storage. So it seemed overwhelming to find somewhere to overhaul one. We’re happy with our choice but these news ones are definitely outrageously priced.
      Hope to see you out there sometime!
