Back in the mid 80s I used to go to Thompson and Stafford every week and while my Dad was always routing for Reggie I would always be routing for Cookman. I was a young kid and when we would go in the pits after the race he always took the time to say hello and talk a little when I would ask him to sign my program. Most drivers back then were great too but for some reason I just liked him more : ). He wasn't from a big team and he started doing really well a couple years before the accident. This is the first video of him racing I have ever seen and it made me smile. RIP Corky we lost you to soon

Man! I wish that I would have got to see Richie Evans race. I grew up in Danbury, and only got to see my hometown heroes race. Not even knowing that they raced all over the northeast. My homeboys did well, but seeing these other guys, who I had no idea about, being so dominant, makes me realize that there was a helluva lotta great racing out there. Thanks for sharing this! It brings back some great memories

RIP to the late great Richie Evans, the best to ever sit in a modified. Back in the good- albeit dangerous- old days of big modified fields.

never missed a turkey derby in those days, great racing... we were there every Saturday night too! Always so exciting to see the tour guys come in for the big races and give the locals a run for the money.

Corley Cookman. I used to watch him race at the old Danbury Racearena. Oh the good ol days!

I knew the Rigsby family, and it was cool to see Rich racing. Unfortunately also wrecking.
