I'm new (very new) first year in doing pixel displays, usually do off the shelf 100v plug and play. Your videos have caught my attention for one major reason. You talk and demonstrate on "my level". You don't complicate things, show and tell so that newbies like me can understand. I've hit like, subscribed, and commented. Thanks again.
Hey Bob. Thank you very much for your words, and welcome to the fabulous world of Smart Pixel Show. If you want to get started I highly recommend that you start with a Mega Tree. It looks amazing and catches everyone's eye. You can find information on my channel on how to get started.
Aloha Trevi, I’m a newbie to this addicting hobby. Thank You for your wonderful videos! As mentioned by others, you make it so much easier to learn and understand how to do things. Mahalo! (Thank You!)
Appreciate the video. So many others do it from a perspective that we are not just starting out and zip back and forth and then lose a step when they edit. Thanks again.
Good video! 👍 keep up the good work! I'm in the process of learning and making my own layout on xlights before buying any equipment or lights. I'm learning a lot from your videos 😊 thank you!
very informative instructions. I followed along and you literally showed me what I needed nothing more. Keep going, take suggestions and it will guide you on next videos. you are great for doing this
I will only have a mega tree (16 x 50) and a star this year. Do you know where I can import sequences for that setup? HolidayCoro has several that can be purchased. Do you know of a place to find more for my setup? Also can you do a video of setting up a schedule? I will be using a Hinkspix pro with on board SD card. Your videos are very good for us beginners. Thanks.
Sorry but I build my own sequences so I cannot help you on that. This video will show you how to create a schedule with Falcon Player. th-cam.com/video/VPE5oHID6Io/w-d-xo.html
I do not have my equipment yet however can this be done in x-lights without a controller setup. I tried and when I got to the controller tab nothing was there from the download so just figured you had to have controller all setup to import a sequence. Am I correct? Remember I have never done this before.
Hey Jim, You do not need a controller to build a sequence or play around in xlights. You can pretty much do all you see in my videos like create a sequence for a mega tree or a singing element. You only need the controller when you are ready to test it live. In the Sequencer Tab you should be able to play your sequence and watch your results in the Model or House preview.
@@trevilights Are you using Windows 10? I can build a sequence and view. Just couldn't get the import to work in your video. If you are using 10 then I need to also. I was trying with Win 7.

Again, great simple video but with lots of detailed information....! Do our physical model ( tree in this case) needs to be having same physical parameters ( eg. size , nodes, no of strands, radius etc) of the sequence we importing ? do both needs to be identical ? thanks...
Yes, After importing the sequence you need to make sure that you tree definition has not changed. Also the creator of the sequence could had added sub-model and/or effect that could potentially mess your setting. Most of this is detected when importing, but you never know.
Recently subscribed. I am brand new. I am starting with a 16 strand 50 pixels per strand with a star using xlights. I like what you did in explaining importing a sequence in the x-lights under the toolbar. Do any of the other sequences work for my setup? How can you tell if it fits my tree/star?
Hey Jim. I am glad you are building a show this year. You are going to love it. Actually a sequence is not attached to a specific tree layout. If you tree has 16 or 32 strands it does not matters. When you import the sequence just make sure you map it to your tree by name. It's kind of tricky since we do not know how the creator named his tree. You might have to try it a few times.
Finally got it to work. I do have a star. Do you need an additional controller to run it? I tried rendering from his star but mine is different. No luck. I could add affects to my star but haven't figured out how to include in the sequence. Sorry for taking your time but just trying to learn.
Hey Jim. Happy to know you got it to work. After importing make sure your setting on the Layout tab for your star did not change or were overwritten. Especially the channels you are using. Stars can be tricky as people create sub models of them. They break them in parts to make effects look better. Those sub models use specific channels that will not match your. Let's say their has 6 points but yours have 5. Their channel mapping will not match your. My recommendation to you is to keep it simple at first. Later on as you learn more they you can make more robust. It's early in the year, so we still have time to improve our shows.
Hi Kevin. Happy new year. I think it is easier to start on your own sequence and you get better then you can start importing some sequences to improve your show. Good luck.
Hi Trevi, I've been following your videos and I've ran into a problem. I get sound through my Pi4 but there is no lights coming on. I have one Singing tree that is run by an AC controller. I have 8 strings of mini lights on my singing tree. I used the switches on my controller to test the lights and they all lit normally. I only get the sound but no lights on my singing faces. also what would be my E.1/Artnet/DDP output settings since I only have 8 strings for 8 channels. Thank You
John, Your setup is way different than mine. I use smart pixels controlled individually. Your are using an AC controller and I have never setup one. Unfortunately I am not going to be able to help you. Your best bet is to get some help from whom you got the AC controller from and ask if the FPP is even something that can be used for your setup.
