I really wished when people ask TH-camrs to react to this video they would specify *THE EXTENDED VERSION* The best part of this entire video is the chair dance scene at the end.🔥🔥
It had been 4 years since Control came out... she hadn't put out music for a while and folks were wondering where she was and when new music was coming out. this video and the choice of this song was meant to say to the audience that she knew that and missed her fans. it was the lead single for rhythm nation and got things started nicely!!! I was a DJ in college when this came out and folks were going crazy for this song!
The dance choreography here is so tight and executed with military precision - similar to that of "Rhythm Nation"!! 🕺🏽⭐️😍 Unless I've missed it, I haven't come across anything today that comes close in that respect.
The jam! I was 10 years old when this came out. What makes Janet unique is that most of her songs are made for HER. Her style is such that only she can put the touch on it that it needs.
As far as her dancing, unlike Michael, she doesn’t stray much from the choreography as far as stepping out. Sometimes she does it and it’s usually also choreographed. Michael tends to improvise a lot in rehearsal by himself, practicing a move repeatedly sometimes 100 times so that when it’s time for him to break out of the choreography, he is able to do it flawlessly as if on instinct. She was such a great admirer of Janets music, that there is a video of him talking about how he would try to see how far his body could go by dancing to Janets music. His favorite songs of hers were rhythm nation and the knowledge, because of the bass lick. It made him go wild.
You should have done the "extended" version of this video that contains the "Chair" dance. Aat the end of this video, Janet moves to the chair and sits down - then there's like a minute of Janet doing a dance using the chair - it's amazing. The regular video cuts that part out. At the end of this song Janet says, "That's the End?" In the Extended version it's followed by a quick "NO" - then Janet does her chair routine.
YASSSS.... This came out the summer of 1989 as I was going into the 9th grade (this was when 9th grade was still Junior High School) and everyone chose this song for their dance solo as our dance classes required dance solos that were performed for the entire school if you were good enough to be picked for the main stage. I went to a Performing Arts School where Brandy (she attended after I graduated while my younger siblings were there), kids with sitcoms or was the kid of an artist went. Even a friend got booked for Michael Jackson's Badder video on his Moonwalker VHS. Students from my Junior High and High School became pretty big actors, dancers, choreographers, musicians and producers once they become adults. It was like going to FAME (the TV show). Great times.
I get what you say about the influence. But I think that is just the Fmaily Jackson work ethic. The perfectionism was part of their upbringing and the way their father molded their careers on their begining stages
Sorry, but Michael could not touch his sister. Michael did his own "free style." Janet, on the other hand, worked the shit out of ANY choreography. There simply is no comparison. Janet was THE dancer in the family.
This track was the first release from Rhythm Nation. She used it as a teaser for the full film. It doesnt make sense until you see the full award winning short movie th-cam.com/video/-wCldfbFiEs/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
This video is a shortened version of the long form Rhythm Nation film which is why the video begins this way. If you see the entire 30 minute film it is pretty self explanatory and part of a longer story.
I get what you mean but as a true Janet stan the similarities between her and her brother are limited. Their music is so different! I can see the inspiration and admiration between the two of them as Michael’s Dangerous album was heavily influenced by Janet’s Rhythm Nation album.
Maneeee…you didnt watch the version with the dance/chair breakdown at the end. 🤦🏿♂️ If you want to hear her really singing, watch the live performance of her singing “I Get Lonely” acapella on The Ricky Lake Show. You can find it here on TH-cam.
For some Janet vocals, check out the video for Again or I Get So Lonely (The original not the remix). Kewl reaction, would def like to see you do more Janet.
Janet had not made an album for 4 years. It was her way of opening the video to let them and us as fans know that he is back and she missed us. It makes more since than some of the songs of today. This song is from Janet's Rhythm Nation Album which was inducted into The National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress. Janet Jackson actually was the highest paid artist surpassing Michael and Madonna in 1996.She has won countless awards internationally and in America and has had #1 Albums in each of the last 4 decades. Janet is the Blueprint and has been a major influence on artists such as Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Aaliyah, Britney Spears, Ciara, TLC, Selena, and new artists of today. You should start with her 80's videos and work your way up to the 2000s. A lot of content creators have done that instead of reviewing them randomly to get a better idea of her groundbreaking videos and choreography.
Maj, I think you need to go the rabbit hole of Janet Jackson, you know you want to, come on in the waters fine😂 If take this journey, then truly start at beginning with ‘Young Love’ and work your way to up to the velvet rope era. As far as live performance one my favorites of hers is ‘I get lonely (live) The Rosie O’Donnell Show. It’s just Janet her Organist & two background singers.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to the EXTENDED VERSION that has the cheer routine! At the end of the video! It has inspired so many female artists after her and others in the routines! Please react to that in a video!!
Am I the only one who doesn't think about Michael when I'm watching or listening to Janet? Or Janet when I am watching or listening to Michael? Unless I'm watching/ listening to "Scream."
It's not just you. I think folks just say that because they know she is his little sister and people love to make comparisons. They have totally different styles. I never think of Michael when watching her unless she does a quick little homage and includes a bit of his iconic choreography moves into one of her videos.
YOU MISS THE END OF THE SONG WITHBTHE CHAIR ROUTINE DANCE !!! IT IS IN ANOTHER LONGER VERSION OF THE VIDEO CHECK ON YOURUBE "JANET JACKSON CHAIR DANCE ROUTINE MISS YOU MUCH" she said "that's the end? No!"
I feel like the comparisons between Michael and Janet is tired and overstressed. As great as Michael was, he did not have a monopoly on greatness or on talent. Janet was very much her own thing. She could be assessed on her own merits.
I love to see the younger generations get into Janet. She’s an ICON for a reason. She paved the way for so many artists today both male and female.
Janet is a full package artist. You don’t get just vocals, just a good video, just good lyrics. If Janet releases it, it checks all boxes.
I remember watching the entire Rhythm Nation video with my resident advisor team. We spent the entire night trying to learn the choreography to this.
Janet gives us everything! She’s a true artist
I really wished when people ask TH-camrs to react to this video they would specify *THE EXTENDED VERSION*

The video doesn't make sense until you see the full movie

Her dancing by herself…The Pleasure Principle

love will never do she dances freely and not so choreographed. and she switches her look amd looks super sexy.
My favorite artist and my favorite album ever!
If you want to see how far her vocals can go, listen to her performance songs black cat and the duet scream she does with Michael.
I LOVE JANET JACKSON ❤
I remember this used to play on Video Soul back in the day. I used to be in the living room dancing along!

You have to check out Janet’s entire music catalog. There’s a lot to her. You’re missing out!

I was hoping you would have watched the extended version with the dance sequence with the chair but great reaction as always

😢 awe they cut off them dancing on the chairs .... dang it 😢😢
One of Janet strongest vocals are on a B-side song all I can say there’s no video but it’s on TH-cam
I get what you mean but as a true Janet stan the similarities between her and her brother are limited. Their music is so different! I can see the inspiration and admiration between the two of them as Michael’s Dangerous album was heavily influenced by Janet’s Rhythm Nation album.
My sentiments exactly!!!! Couldn't have said it better.💯💯
Check her out dancing in the Pleasure Principle
Janet > MJ. I said it. You need to keep digging bud. Janet is everything!
Maneeee…you didnt watch the version with the dance/chair breakdown at the end. 🤦🏿♂️ If you want to hear her really singing, watch the live performance of her singing “I Get Lonely” acapella on The Ricky Lake Show. You can find it here on TH-cam.

Yess...😎
About that we are talking.🥴😘
Janet and Michael so alike ... has anyone ever seen them in the same room together ...? 🤔😮
Maybe the Scream video or the 95 VMAs? Yeah, a few hundred million people have seen them in the same room.
And he was nearly a foot taller than her.
Am I the only one who doesn't think about Michael when I'm watching or listening to Janet? Or Janet when I am watching or listening to Michael? Unless I'm watching/ listening to "Scream."

Janet is not a freestyle dancer, but the only dance that was freestyle she ever did was a song called throb The Velvet Rope tour
And also the song,
The Pleasure Principal she did all that dancing her self, and it wasn't choreographed
Hello handsome, love your videos!❤
Would you do a reaction to "WORTH IT" by WHITNEY HOUSTON ? THANK YOU 👍🏿
React to Tina Turner the best official music video
