Sonic Chaos:
Sonic Chaos is a fan game and re-imagining of the 1993 Sega Game Gear and Master System platform game of the same name. Based on the current style of 2D classic Sonic games inspired by Sonic Mania, Sonic Chaos updates the 8 bit visuals of the original and adapts a play style more closely resembling the classic 16-bit games. The game has been in development for almost an entire year, of which the last 3 months was spent building a brand new engine from scratch. Sonic Chaos uses this new engine, Crimson Engine, and with it we've strived for classic Sonic gameplay accuracy.

for those who are wondering if the game was cancelled, no it was not, but according to an insider I have, more precisely what happened is that the person responsible for creating CrimsonEngine does not want to continue, AStartShow is dropped to continue the game develop alone and switching to another engine, and as he only has knowledge of PixelArt in general he is doing everything himself, so it's very likely that a next demo won't come anytime soon.
This makes a lot of sense as to why the game went dark. I hope they'll be able to continue their work.

I wonder if the original developer felt the Sonic Mania art style got to overly ambitious. That's one of the very few Sonic fan games that used the Mania style, and I imagine that amount of detail could be very taxing.

Sonic Chaos was my favorite non-Genesis Sonic game growing up! I really hope this gets completed.
This is an amazing production. I remember playing Sonic Chaos on Game Gear in the 90's and in my minds eye this is how it played, altho it never actually did. I would happily pay good money to play this new version. Stunning job. Bravo.

@@Kirby64Guy Are you sure this isn't just an issue with your TV? It runs great and is the best official way to play it, since game gears are expensive. And if you really want crisp, pristine quality then just emulate it. There are multiple solutions.

Would love official remakes of Chaos, Triple Trouble, Advance series, and Rush series one day. Maybe all with 16 bit modes and Generations modes.

So I actually still have a Sega Game Gear which sadly died, but one of the games I have for it was Sonic Chaos which I beat multiple times. Now I have it on PC for Kega Fusion 3.64 so I can still play it without a Sega Game Gear just using a Sega Game Gear emulator. I love where this game here is going and love to see it completed and released some day although I know it wouldn't play on my PC as I'm sadly still stuck on Windows 7 with no way to upgrade due to financial issues :-(. This does though look bloody fantastic.

The predecessor to Sonic Triple Trouble 16bit. Except that came out first.
Combine both sonic and tails together ala triple trouble remake and try to do something for knuckles. Maybe have sonic and tails have or start with a emerald too. Maybe keep the 50 rings and you enter the special stage if the last thing works. Or maybe boost it to 100 rings if you keep or don't start with a emerald

I'm hoping we get another update soon. There hasn't been much aside from the Gigapolis soundtrack, which was months ago.
