- Top 5 things YOU NEED TO KNOW about the DJI drone ban! This week, September 9th, 2024, US Congress moved closer to banning DJI products from being used in the United States. The House of Representatives voted to approve adding DJI to the FCC Covered List, which will in theory ban DJI drones, cameras, and any products that use wifi or bluetooth. But what next? How soon will it be effective? Can you still fly your current drones? Find out that and more in this video!

Classic (last 20 years) U.S…. Let’s ban something without a plan for an alternative. Just a big FU to creators that use these tools.
Exactly. No exit strategy. Just a gaping hole where innovations used to be.
Thanks for the summary.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
If a ban in the US how will we be able to receive updates because I assume it will be taken off the App Store if a full ban goes in effect
MOST DJI apps are already not in the play store. You'll need to download them from the DJI site itself.
Good stuff! Thanks for the info!
What happened to keep your enemies close.
🤣😂😅
Will this effect other countries as well because of your stupid politicians🤔
It won't affect other countries directly, but oftentimes, other countries that are allies with the US will adopt our policies. So the US doing this could lead to other countries doing the same thing.
I mean… I get it… we don’t want the Chinese collecting a database of all of the areas we decide to film….
But… what non foreign company or USA friendly company compares?? Give me something viable and I’ll buy that instead to be a patriot. The other issue is… they make action cameras…. So what do I do about that? I’m in support of BUY AMERICAN but shit… put some factories here and give us some real jobs instead of outsourcing to other countries.
My thoughts exactly. Don't make "BUY AMERICAN" impossible.
Correct me if i'm wrong but as I understand it, this ban targets all DJI products. So, while you can still use your current drone, what happens when you need spare parts? Batteries that no longer work or you need a spare prop that has snapped? While it's possible 3rd party companies can supply that demand, should those of us who are thinking of plopping down multi-thousand dollars to get into this hobby or consider a side business take that chance? I feel like I'm in a weird limbo waiting to see if this new hobby is a go for me or not.
There is still plenty of time to get into the hobby and buy a few drones that should last you a good long while until American companies can hopefully catch up! Watch out for updates so you know when to buy more because once it is finalized, the only supply will be bought up quickly. But you still have time!
@@TheDroneDad Thanks. Sorry for the newbie question but what is a reasonable life expectancy of a decent drone? We're talking about a mult-thousand dollar investment that may just end up being the last one any of us can buy before the brand goes extinct in the U.S. I would love to see the American drone manufacturers catch up but it doesn't seem they've been putting in the effort until now. And, if the ban goes into effect then what incentive would they have to develop a better product than they've offered so far? Stefanik and company have really hurt drone development competition in the States. Thanks.
@williwaizenegger3853 Well drone life expectancy depends on the pilot. I have a Mavic Mini from 5 years ago that I'm about to do a 5 year review on soon that's still working. If you take care of them, they can last quite a while.
@@TheDroneDad Thanks. I'll be on the lookout for the review. And, I may just drop some cash on a drone in the near future.
@williwaizenegger3853 Some new models will likely come out as we approach the holiday season. Keep a close look out! My favorite of mine is the Air 2 and it's old enough now that it's dropped in price some.
