    Hello to keep me sane through this quarantine I started looking at the cooking channels there are quite a few that is worth taking a second look but yours stood out. CWR is serious authentic trini Indian cooking.i am from a central area of trinidad an although of African decent learnt to makes lots of stuff early . So I was deeply into your channel to make some comparison. Your spoon artwork blew me away .that is a great skill I use my hand as I was taught. I recommend your channel to all young cooking novices .I am watching and trying as a refresher course. I thank you and enjoy myself following u. Good food original cooking.its like granny use to make. god bless you.

    I have been using this recipe quite a few times. I doubled the ingredients to make a more Pholourie. My family loves it. When I am making Pholourie I put crushed garlic in it too. Resting the mix for 2 hours makes fluffy Pholourie.

    Hi Rita,
    Can you make the phoulorie with split peas also. That's my favorite.

    • @clairecrick2000
      @clairecrick2000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Original phoulorie has to be made with split pease that is the original recipe. Guyanese would never make phoulorie with only flour I was surprised when I saw Trinidadians not using peas. For a Guyanese they would tell you it’s not ready and it doesn’t have any taste because you only tasting flour and no flavor of the peas. You can soak the peas and blend it fine and smooth, use pease powder or if you have dhal puri peas left over mix in in a flour batter with your other ingredients and make delicious phoulorie. Some people would boil the peas just to crack it a Little slightly hard cool and blend. In Guyana we have phoulorie mix already pre package made by the milling factory that makes flour all you need to do is add water and fry some people usually add little more flour and powder, yeast and seasoning to increase the mixture and let rise and fry. If you’re in Guyana all markets sell phoulorie peas mix or New York, you can go to any Guyanese market in Brooklyn like church ave especially on liberty avenue in queens and get original pease phoulorie mix some Guyanese markets in Canada also. The Massy supermarkets in Guyana makes peas phoulorie in the bakery dept and not that flour phoulorie Trinidad makes even though it’s a Trinidad chain market causes they know that would not sell in Guyana

      Farry Ali Thanks and Yes I AGREE-that’s why I balanced it with two green/half ripe mangoes. I personally don’t like it too sour (and made this for American neighbors as well who also may not have enjoyed the traditionally sour result). 😀 All green mangoes or half ripe mangoes can be used as you pointed out-based on personal preference of course. ❤️
