Good work mate, good to see blokes getting out there and having an honest go. I’d recommend the Spring hunt too as even though the sambar don’t rut like fallow or reds there is an old saying when it comes to sambar and that is “when the wattles out the ruts on”
Great job mate. Keep putting the videos out as it is all the one percenters that make up a great community of deer hunters. We can never know everything and can all learn from each other. My god, you are organised. Top stuff.
Thanks mate. Probably like many of us I'll watch anything on a select topic. I figure even phone grade is a little bit of a way to give it back to you guys that go full hog. Organised for me = faster and less chance of forgetting shit packing. Between two kids and wife and mother in law nagging it's easy to forget things. I have these nightmares that I go shooting and forget the ammo and bolt 😫

Good spot for you mate if you are down again is Crows Hut. Lot's of deer in there Might even peg a wild dog as well. On my channel snow trip I got some footage of deer
Well done Nathan, I laughed while nodding my head when you gave the hot tip on the frozen logs and how standing on them serves two purposes. 1 to go down hill fast and 2 to set of your epirb haha. Some of the country at 1350m asl at around 7.10 min looked amazing for waiting out on last light! I know the feeling mate - frustratingly addictive!! Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks mate. Was just a aspect game on that Hillside. Good country for sure. Spend ages creeping along it with my stalking slippers and all. 😂 That Hillside was lethal for icy windfall 😂. You'll giggle, the biggest spill I had was in camp, flat on my face, knocked the wind outta me.
Were you using your thermal imager to scout the bush ahead and around you, as at times it just looked nigh impossible to see deer before they became alerted? Some of the understory seemed so thick as to be almost impenetrable without creating a disturbance. A bit like the thick jesse bush in Zimbabwe, but great that you kept slogging on. We’ll look forward to your next adventure
The phone to the binoculars worked well alright. So much effort. Just goes to show how close to impenetrable the bush can be. You did well just to make it out in one piece.

No Derek. Thermals are highly illegal to hunt with in the Vic High Country. Yes it's a huge challenge but that's why we do it I guess.

This might sound pretty stupid, but doesn’t your high vide cap stand out to the deer or are they colour blind?
They only see in gray scales

If it was easy we would not take up the challenge. Learning is a big drawcard for sure.
