Same! He did a brilliant job rebuilding his layout!!! And so true about other layouts! Whenever a carriage wobbles a little on a layout, that would translate to broken bones of all the passengers if scaled up to life size!
Thanks, it takes ages to get rid of all those tiny bumps. I use a steel rule across to tops of the rails to check for any bumps and dips in the track. Cheers
Richard...thanks for buying our sleeper spacer tool and glad it went some way to assisting what is most probably the most laborious task but as you rightly say, the end result is well worth it. I can't believe what you have also done on the layout in this space of time and looks flipping awesome. Like many, look forward to the next update. Regards Steve @ Railway Laser Lines
Thanks Steve. I got through those straights at the station much faster thanks to the tool. Managed all 4 tracks over 2 weekends. The curves nearly finished me! Cheers
I’ve massively fallen out of love with model railways for various reasons. Yours is the only channel I still watch because of just how good your layout, videos and stock are. I love the new corner of the layout, it’s just a shame you couldn’t find a way to fit in the old carriage shed you built. I’d love to see it on the layout again some day.
I've had a Bachmann IC livery Mk1 BG coach sat in a drawer for years that I only bought to sit on a diorama shelf I made. Genuine showroom miles. One owner from new. Future classic. If I'd have known you'd been after one I'd have reached out to you! Your new sidings have my imagination going wild there, Richard. If you were to sacrifice them to the scenery gods, remove the center line and replace it with a platform, you could easily pass off that entire area as an old disused station; The original Everard from before the war and before the junction and new station were built in its place. The now head-shunt would have been the original single track line before the new main line was built to replace it. Leave the bridge section out, probably taken away to be melted down during the war, but put the supports in on the other side and you have the remains of a 'once upon a time' line. The flats even look like they were built in its place once an original viaduct was demolished. The rear wall of your viaduct would have been the front wall of the original. Brings a bit of history to the area. I think that area is standing out to me because where I live we have loads of abandoned arched viaducts where the [Lancashire & Yorkshire] railway was taken away decades ago, now reclaimed by nature, but the viaducts remain as most of the arches have been converted in to shops. gyms, garages, etc. Please do have a look down Love Lane, Liverpool. Postcode L3 7DD on Google maps. It's quite the sight! It's exactly what I imagine your viaduct would look like from behind. There's even a narrowboat shell dumped down there on the road side. Goes well with your canal. There must be a local boat builders in Everard! Keep it coming, Richard. Take care. Mike.
We leave you alone for 5 minutes and what do you do… rip up a chunk of your layout… again!! 🤣 Absolutely love your videos, Richard. I don’t have a train set, I just love your builds, skills and your no-nonsense attitude towards getting the layout that you want. Can’t wait for the next one 😁🚈 Lee
I looked at the layout the other day and noticed that not a single bit of scenery is even two years old! Love making improvements as I go, very rewarding. Cheers lee
Super glad you changed the curved track looks super and the coaches with the new couplings which I have done on mine, adds to the real look of the carriages and wagons distance between the buffers.
Been finished 8 years now. Thought "Slough SCC" without even thinking about it. Haven't even seen it from that angle. Route knowledge never leaves you.
A very bold and daunting task to tear up that much previous work. Has to be done sometimes in the quest for perfection. Difficult to accept comprises sometimes, they do end up gnawing at you eventually. Must be much happier with the result and worth the extra effort. As always, outstanding work!. Look forward to the next update.
Everard Junction returns - with an update on the station - delight! You are glutton for punishment with re-laying your track. But I am sure that it will look splendid when done.
I loved the part of the video when you had the train going into the new siding tunnel under the main track as a train passed overhead. Incredibly effective and well thought out by you.
What is impressive about your work is that when you watch the trains running you know that you are seeing a model railway but it makes you forget that because of all the small details that take it that step further. Watching the progress of it being built is really interesting it is a joy to watch the trains running. The weathering on the trains and locos looks just right for what they are and only add to the illusion created with the scenery. Thank you for sharing the process and progress with us.
Superb Richard. Yeah, we were eager to see an update on the lay-out as well, but here we are. Blimey, we’ve always understood that you were really going to town but good heavens, redoing an entire section must have been eye wateringly challenging your diligence. Well, it certainly is paying off. Extraordinary.
I'll save this for later viewing when there won't be anyone about to disturb my pleasure at the latest upload. Edit Well you've outdone yourself again. The attention to detail gives us mare mortals some hope.
Didn’t think you could improve on perfection but up pops Richard at Everard Junction and breaks the mould yet again, absolutely brilliant update ! Thanks for sharing, cheers Darrell
Such a brave thing to do, ripping up a huge section of a perfectly good layout to redo it however can see why you did and the results are fantastic. Looking forward to seeing how you tackle the station area and what sort of building/s you go for now. Completely agree on the hunt couplings too, they really are a god send however they can be a bit brittle and some need to be glued in as you say, certainly a step in the right direction though. Cheers, Dave
Cheers Dave, glad you enjoyed it. I really like redoing bits around the layout. If those couplings were injection molded that would sort most of the issues. 3D printing isn't really meant for mass production of thousands of units.
Well Richard, you've put some real man hours into this, no wonder you've been "offline" for some time. So much work as usual and the results are there to see, it's going to look really impressive when it's all complete and weathered, I also admire you for the effort put in with the sleeper spacing and applying the "cant" to the track, it's going to look superb. Many thanks for sharing as always, you provide so much inspiration for others and explain things you've tried and done in lots of detail, cannot wait for the next instalment.
First, Happy belated Birthday! As always, your astounding attention to even almost invisible detail is beyond words. Take all the time you need to keep doing what you do so well. Waiting months for an update NEVER disappoints. Outstanding work, thank you.
To say you've been busy is an understatement! New platforms are superb. The paving slabs on the platform edge are a particular triumph. My eye was immediately drawn to the broken slab at the foot of the ramp. No idea if it was deliberate or purely accidental but it looks super realistic! Your layout updates always inspire me to do a bit on my own, so thanks again.
Very interesting Richard, video as usual up to a very high standard and what you’ve done is certainly very impressive, top marks to once again, thanks for sharing such a wonderful layout, geoff
much better track work looks more convincing looking forward to see the station and new back boards. very entertaining video as well. I always enjoy watching your work and the dialog explaining your thinking behind the changes and additions you have made over the years, I hope the Granada is sill behaving itself!
One of the few ways to re experience my younger days and this period of BR which was very much my favourite and much missed.. the colours and variety as well as big tired diesel engines was awesome to live with and experience.
Hi Richard, Another superb production with some excellent content. The sweeping curves look very realistic. I always look forward to your video’s. Keep up the great work.
Once again Richard another outstanding video your skills are first class. I say it all the time I’m a long time viewer been with you since your very first videos testing points saw the start and finish of your original layout and have watched every single video as far back as I can remember . I unfortunately don’t have that time / space to continue my own layout which I’ve now sold but you keep my passion alive ! I don’t comment enough but I had to give my two pence aha. Outstanding modelling and another outstanding video! Big fan Rich keep it going !
I know it's a minor thing and not intentional but I love the random coach sat at the back of the curves. Reminds me of working at Peterborough next to the mainline and seeing all sorts of random coaches and wagons in the sidings
Very impressive, and I admire your honesty "Well, sod it ..." a very good starting point for some very interesting evolution. I'm looking forward to the next videos.
Welcome back. Long time no see Missed your great videos... Your dedication to getting things RIGHT and making not only a realistic model representing something that may well have existed but also something entertaining and attractive. Looking forward to more videos into the future - hopefully a little less time between them - as the work you do is always impressive and inspiring. Especially looking forward to more scenic areas and detail work. Those terraces, Units and backyards are going to be fascinating.
Great update, lots of good stuff, worth the wait. I particularly admire your willingness to rip up and redo to improve things. Thanks and cheers from Wisconsin!
Your channel is the only thing related to 80s era BR I enjoy, never been a favorite era of mine but your modelling makes it so appealing in a way I can't easily describe.
Longtime follower, first-time poster. Excellent update, the station area and sweeping curves are looking great! Thanks for having us along for the ride; looking forward to your next update. :)
Evening Richard. Well that’s a turn up for the books a complete rebuild of part of the layout 👍🏻 What a transformation and when you’ve connected the siding and weathered the track it’ll be absolutely fantastic 🤩 That thumper trundling up and down was a great touch 👍🏻 Not only is this one of the very best layouts on TH-cam you’ve now added in my eyes the best diesel hydraulic locomotive ever built the Western class 52 😀 I’m a midland man living in Manchester but i did see all the class 52s except 1058 Western Nobleman. Can’t wait for the episode already lol 😂 Take care cheers Stevie 😎
Just a 'Wow'...what an amazing job Richard, really opened up the look and feel of that curve and that whole area looks so much better for it. Got to say though that other than you're explanation about how the curve in its original state was & did look to you, on screen it looked 'good' as it was - just shows how much effort you put in, that on-screen it wasn't really noticeable, other than being a little tight for the siding but it still looked ok. As for respacing all those sleepers...respect for wanting to go through that again.
Cheers Chris. Its certainly hard to get across the changes on camera. In the flesh its far more obvious and I'm much happier with it now. I wont be respacing any sleepers for a while now, Id forgotten how horrible it is!
Mate love your videos been following your channel for 9 odd years now.Miss it when you dont put up regular videos been hanging out for two months but was well worth the wait thank you . Keep up the brilliant work
A Fantastic update and the layout looks brilliant, its amazing how much space you can save when you move things about, look forward to all the following updates.
Loved seeing your Layout the work on the stations is well worth it Looks so good fort sure Hunt couplings on Coaches is the best ever as you say brings them much Closer and I've had zero Problems on Coaches Great Vlog thanks
Excellent video Richard as always. I agree the Geogian terrace looks better now but also agree some houses around London are extremely close to the viaducts. I always liked looking down at the tiny spaces packed with junk, sculleries with broken windows, proper slums from the back but fairly respectable from the front. Keep up the great work Richard.
Excellent upgrades and improvements, Richard. I think the couplings will be very useful in the new sidings. I remember seeing D1062 in the West Country when it was near new whilst on holiday. She made a fine sight!! Cheers, Bob.
I finally was able to start a hobby I've been interested in for some time (long story). Modifying RC vehicles. I thought that was a lot if work, until I see the huge amount of work you've put into this setup. Your results are just amazing! I love the details.
Call it peak millennial-ness or what have you, but the sole reason I one day want to own a house is so that I can have somewhere to embark upon a long term layout project. None of this “nscale diorama on a bookcase” business, but a proper OO set up. Great layout though, your updates are really inspiring! (Regards, a train obsessed millennial)
Great to see you back again, and what an update!! I do love the thought that you put in, you probably dont sleep much with the amount of thought.effort you put in!! :)
Absolutely great video as usual, but just had to point out how great that platform surface looked! Never seen it modelled in that fashion and I think it came out brilliantly.
Whew, a lot of work and not by halves. I will start with the end... that Class 52 is a stunner... quite unique looking and, yes, highly detailed. Looked more brown than maroon, but either way, a standout. As far as your upgrades, you obviously needed to fix things and have done so, though many of us would have never noticed the issue from our distances. A nice fair group of acquisitions, but I will admire the IC Swallows, but remain focused on the 52. A great looker there. Cheers!
Welcome back Richard nice new addition to the layout love the 47. Track readdressing well can I say apart from wow it looks so much better now witch I didn't realize till you started running the rolling around. Great running session 🙂 take care and happy modeling.
Wow...you have been busy,,,but with very good result....i like it.....now i will finish watching the video....haha...:-) gets me all motivated to get on with my own project again.....:-)
Amazing as always! Your work & videos is a great source of information as well as inspiration for me, and I'm sure many other modellers; thanks for posting all your hard work, always enjoyable.
One request - you did a cab ride video on your old layout which was great, but now I suspect it would be even better on oyur new layout, and also it would be amazing to get a sense of the super elevation from the drivers eye. WOuld it be possible to add it on to the end of one of your up and coming videos?
Don't forget, that out on the track, there are always the 'New Patch', on the track after engineering works, so not unusual to come across a pink bit of ballast. I reckon, you being a perfectionist, and having already done the work previously, the track will soon be as good as ever. After all that fettling it will be amazing. I think of the pigeon loft bolted onto the house at Borough Market Junction, with no garden whatsoever, just a small concrete yard. It was also fairly common to run across bits of discontinued track where cross overs had been taken out but the bit of old track connecting the defunct siding or old level crossing were still in place, like the spare bits of track, just lying about going rusty.
Excellent stuff and a good update. Some fantastic work and patience you have shown..Your work shows the results. Look forward to the next update. Many thanks.
Hello from Wisconsin USA. I love British trains, and have crossed the pond many times to ride them. I have my American models of course, but want to add a British Rail passenger train to my collection. Watching your superbly done video only makes me more anxious to get rolling. Cheers!
Hi Richard great to see you and your updates, looks like you've been busy, banked curves look the part thanks for sharing can't wait to see the next update please take care and remember to stay safe..
Some of the terraced houses like these sometimes did not have very big gardens, especially if they became multi occupancy property, and then subsequently demolished as part of the so called slum clearance schemes of the nineteen sixties up to the beginning of the seventies, in London. I think the amount of space that you have allowed looks very realistic in proportion to the viaduct.
Thanks Alan. The houses are based on real properties in Brixton. I've got close the the size for the gardens now so should be able to pull off something realistic. Will be sorting that out over the summer. Cheers
Superb video of the best layout to date. Definitely a glutton for punishment with those tracks. I love the thumper and admire the wonderful work that you put into your layout. Such a great layout and something to aspire too. It’s always a pleasure to see your progress and hard work. Stay safe and looking forward to the next instalment.
Absolutely superb as always. The changes to the curves really enhance the realism. The new sidings are excellent and typical of what you see in the real world. Remind me of Holgate loop and reception sidings just outside York station
Train spotters dream living in one if those apartments overlooking the track??..real life scenario of course!!..for anyone else they have to get used to the noise!!..fantastic set up reminds me of the childhood a,though yours is in a much larger scale..thks for sharing
Yes, I'll echo Stephen G's comment. The smooth running of everything immediately leapt out. Quiet an improvement, and your set-up already looked fantastic.
This is what gets me back into the hobby again am wanting to paint my roofs mine are white so maybe get my a**e into gear and have a go with the airbrush layout is look awesome as ever as for the InterCity 47 does look great cheers Paul
Anyone would think you’re due a visitor! You’re working flat out 😆
Yeah, my evening is saved! Everard Junction videos are so relaxing.
All the best from Germany!
Valentin
The main difference i notice from some other layouts is the smooth running of your track. No 'jiggly' coaches. Very impressive.

Erm, I don’t have wobbly track work 😆
@@DeanPark Just checked out your intro and subbed. Awesome layout and certainly no wobbles!
Thanks, it takes ages to get rid of all those tiny bumps. I use a steel rule across to tops of the rails to check for any bumps and dips in the track. Cheers
Hi. Great modelling. Where do you get the ceramic tiles from please? Why have you chosen cork over foam? Thanks.
Richard...thanks for buying our sleeper spacer tool and glad it went some way to assisting what is most probably the most laborious task but as you rightly say, the end result is well worth it. I can't believe what you have also done on the layout in this space of time and looks flipping awesome.

Thanks! I'm quite chuffed with it Ill be honest. A tutorial video for those is in the works. Cheers
I thought it was kind of crazy what you were doing at first, but wow, the "mk 2" is SO much better. Totally worth going OCD on it. Nicely done indeed.
Looking brilliant the shots of the train's on the banking great also your new model's do look good especially the dapol western thankyou for the video
Thank you for uploading. Wonderful modelling, beautifully presented.
Absolutely stunning. The results of your hard work is superb. 👏
Sleeper spacing looks good Richard. Worth the effort I think.
Wow...you have been busy,,,but with very good result....i like it.....now i will finish watching the video....haha...:-)
gets me all motivated to get on with my own project again.....:-)
Great to see Everard Junction back, been missing this! Another great update roll on the next video!
Cheers. Started filming the next one already, shouldn't take two months this time!
Excellent stuff and a good update. Some fantastic work and patience you have shown..Your work shows the results.
Look forward to the next update.
Many thanks.
this is like waiting for a remake from hollywood ,except you know with yours it will exceed brilliant
Brilliant work! Thanks for the update, you've done a great job and it makes sense. The siding area provides a lot more scope as well.
Looks awesome, top marks. 👍👌
Inspiration abounds as usual. Really looking forward to the platform tutorial; the first one looks great.
Always look forward to a new video and you never disappoint in updates. The layout is coming along nicely.
As usuell awesome and most interesting. The small details are amazing! Thank‘s alot for the upload and greetings from germany
I admire the dedication and patience you have, so great to see the progress.
excellent superelevation. Brave to go so far, but it works really well!
absolutely brilliant. I love your eye to detail. Keep up the amazing work bud. Can't wait for next video.
Going on to perfection. Very nice work as always.
Absolutely superb as always. The changes to the curves really enhance the realism. The new sidings are excellent and typical of what you see in the real world. Remind me of Holgate loop and reception sidings just outside York station
I love the three car Thumper.
Train spotters dream living in one if those apartments overlooking the track??..real life scenario of course!!..for anyone else they have to get used to the noise!!..fantastic set up reminds me of the childhood a,though yours is in a much larger scale..thks for sharing
Sleeper spacing definitely worth the effort
Yes, I'll echo Stephen G's comment. The smooth running of everything immediately leapt out. Quiet an improvement, and your set-up already looked fantastic.
The sound of your trains running is actually smoother and less noisy too with the reworked curves.
nice vid richard been looking forward to this all day lol
This is what gets me back into the hobby again am wanting to paint my roofs mine are white so maybe get my a**e into gear and have a go with the airbrush layout is look awesome as ever as for the InterCity 47 does look great cheers Paul
