The Tranquil Kian Un Keng Shrine: A Hidden Sanctuary | Bangkok, Thailand Travel

The historic Kian Un Keng Shrine, also known as the Kuan An Keng Shrine, is tucked away on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River, between the Santa Cruz Church and Wat Kalayanamit.
This old joss house shrine was first established during the reign of King Taksin and then rebuilt during under Rama III.
The shrine houses a rare statue of Guanyin, the Chinese Goddess of Mercy, in a seated position. This is rare because she's almost always portrayed as standing in images.
