Wet diapers are the worst. They must weigh ten pounds and they are hard to get a grip on with litter pickers. The most unusual thing I found today while litter picking was one leg of a sawhorse.
With you all doing so much for your local community have you asked the local council if they would be willing to supply you with bags? They know you do so much litter picking due to the amount of litter you arrange to be collected and photos you send them.

We do not have bottle deposit in my state, but I do collect the alum cans and cash them in. If there was $0.09 per bottle / can, I would have a large secondary income from all of the trash here, but then again, if that system was in place we may not have that much trash tossed! People here hate taxes and think its their right granted by a deity to litter, they just don't care.
Loads of poison ivy in NY too, I think all over the Northeast. You could put black plastic bags over your shoes and calves with rubber bands. Is the woman working with you your wife?

In Sweden, you get one kroner per pledged bottle and can. One krone becomes 0.092 dollars. Why do you not have that system in US?
