If it helps the job market in general is terrible right now, even for non-art careers. You have a social presence and TH-cam which is more than what most people have. Keep doing what you are doing and I’m sure you’ll find what you need ❤
I think both types of videos are great. Your voiceover videos not only provides a deep thoughtful message, but the imagery within the frame include a form of visual storytelling and correlating to the voiceover message. You do this very well. The videos where you talk in front of the camera is great because it’s more free flowing with less structure. You get to express how you feel about any subject no matter how big, or small, or deep the subject is. Nuances. 👍👍👍
I think the exact same thing. I like doing both, but choosing to go one route would likely end up boring in my opinion. Really appreciate hearing your thoughts! Thank you for watching!
i really appreciate your vlogs! they have been a refreshing source of comfort and grounding. plus your editing skills are top notch! i have been wanting to break into the animation industry for quite some time now, but as i get older my priorities have changed to find stability, and so it's been difficult but also somewhat exciting transitioning to another career. who knows, maybe i will attempt breaking in again in the future when hopefully the industry is in a better state for new artists. best of luck to you on your journey!
@@peppermintdaises I'm actually still learning to edit so I've got some ways to go! But thank you, I'm flattered to hear you enjoy my editing 😄. A new field could be fun. You never know. Good luck to you as well!
It’s interesting how similar the struggles are for composers in the music industry. This video resonates with me in that regard. I’m right here with ya! Haha
I'm a recently graduated animator from Spain. Your videos help me a lot. I've started looking for a job in august and seeing that a person with your experience has it so difficult to find a job honestly makes me think if I ever make it to the industry... I find job offers but even as a junior they ask for +3 years experience. Everyone seems so distant, they won't answer your e-mails or if you get an answer is from a bot. I understand that studios and companies have lots of applications to review and work to do but it's difficult to find a kind word or encouragement. And in Spain is much worse. Starting to think I should've studied something else because I do really need a job and with a disability I can't work in many other things to make a living :( I'm sorry for the long message but I just needed to share it with someone. Good luck on your journey 💟
Hey Joz i came to this video just after watching your other video about art being a dream job and it hit really close to home. Honestly many things you've mentioned are so relatable! I'm struggling now myself and I've went down the path of health issues, doing inhuman amount of work thanks to my stubborn willingness to juggle full time, part time and personal work all at the same time. I think my soul is being broken into pieces and I'm wondering if i should swap career into something different like programming etc. Also, please don't apologize, pjs are comfy! (and ur pjs look cool, not to mention u had a killer eyeliner haha we can see the effort you are putting in!
That's true, I do like my PJ's. I try to put on something different so the video is more interesting. It's hard when I'm stressed or unwell though! Thank you for watching multiple videos. I know going through growing pains in a career isn't easy, and I hope you find the answer you're looking for❤.
blessed to have a job 3 years now but after surviving my 5th layoffs since last may I have applied to so many positions and got turned down by every single job. not 1 interview. i know most of these postings are fake and they hire within but its so annoying. i hope you find work soon! and keep at it with these videos theyre great!!
I feel you that's so painful process ! I was an Art director at TBWA World Health and was not happy after 5 years . Did some freelance then changed my carrier to Fashion. Sorry for the wrong color but cool cardi Houndstooth never out of fashion! Inspiration is our most important meal like breafast. Amazing art you have
No pressure when it comes to doing your content. It really doesn’t have to be perfect. If I were to choose, you talking in front of the camera indeed feels more personal, but you have a good combination of everything.
Hey Joz, good luck with the hunt, I am in the games industry so I know from acquaintances how rough for both fields it is at the moment. What was the workaround for the password protected folio site you mentioned? my last 5 years of work are all NDA and I need something to show for it 🙃 Also, absolutely yes to the documenting a portfolio rebuild/update. I'll need to do that too so it'd be nice to see how others do it!
Thank you for this comment, this made me feel a lot better about my website! I’ve been working on it for ages but it always feels weird looking at it afterwards
Try to look into the lens of the camera you are filming with rather than yourself on the screen. When you’re talking to the audience but looking at yourself in the screen it has a similar feeling to people who are unable to look you in the eye while speaking with you. Just feels kind of “off”. I remember watching a Casey Neistat video where he talked about having the same problem with that, so he would frame the shot make sure everything was in focus and then cover the screen to force himself not to look at it. Other than that one little nitpick, your videos are awesome, and you seem like a total natural for this kind of content. Good luck with the TH-cam channel and the job hunt. 😊
I've been trying to break that habit! I tend to watch the screen to make sure the footage is fine, but I'm slowly learning to use manual on the camera instead of babysitting the screen. Thank you for your comment and for watching!
Here to let you know that “Normal jobs” are also incredibly difficult to look for; regardless of job listings and search results. This market is quite crap. Sorry you’re experiencing this.
Job hunting can be hard and frustrating sometimes, but it's all part of the process. We can do it ❤
I'm glad I'm not the only one who bangs my head in frustration 😅

Yeah, the sunny side to it is that I'm not alone 😅. I'm very thankful to have an audience on TH-cam despite being so new. Thank you for the support!

The workaround requires coding so unfortunately is not the most accessible method. I am not sure if it works on all hosts either.
Designing websites is so frustrating especially your own. I’ve been designing them for 10+ years now and they always make me feel dumb.
Something always goes wrong 😫. And it's supposed to be easy now with those website builders...

Would be interesting to get some context in regards to your finances. You don't seem too worried about money, unlike most people looking for work.
I chose to exclude it, but it doesn't mean I don't worry 🙂.
