    Sometimes the reason to be thankful goes beyond the quality of the video. I was especially happy with the detailed explanations, her use of precise terms, and the time taken describing each step showing how to clean the GMax fill valve (made by Korky). Equally important was my REASON for needing to try to clean it myself. Normally, it might take similar minutes to install a new fill valve and you know ahead of time it will work. Hence, most of the time people don't risk the potential time lost cleaning the old valve. In my case I had a two piece Toto toilet that required removing the tank to get access to the fill valve connection for replacement. Worse, the access to the fill valve comes through the bottom of the toilet meaning any time I need to change a fill valve I have to remove the tank. Cleaning worked and saved calling a plumber . Even buying a new tank with new fill and flush valves would have left me with the same problem of access to the fill valve fitting every time either valve fails. Now I can be sure I have cleaned out the dirt first. A heads up might be, if you ever have badly clogged aerators in other parts of the house, (like a vacation home where things sit for months) then your water supply has enough crud that it might also clog the fill valve. Again, I am so appreciative of her video. My only addition would be that if your valve is 10 years old like mine, that pouring boiling water over the tube and plastic will make them flexible enough to move like the parts shown in the video. Mine were very difficult to get apart, but very easy to put back together.

    Thanks again for a good video. I watched this and your other one on how to flush the debris out of the line. I also cleaned the little red gasket taking it out with a tweezer first. My initial problem was that the tank was not filling. After watching someone else's video first and cleaning the green-blue filter I was able to get water in the tank again, but then it would not stop. I watched your two videos on how to clean further and clear the line and turn over the little pad, etc. and now it works fine. Thank you.

    Your videos are terrific! Thank you for the information. I need to replace the red gasket (which I discovered in walking thru your video). Fingers crossed and I’ll try to remember to come back and tell you how it went

    10-26-23, it's been called to my attention that the step showing the removal of the blue cap is missing (I can't fix this and don't know how it has disappeared) This video shows how to flush out and clean a toilet fill valve:th-cam.com/video/L20V0_QQlyE/w-d-xo.html go to the 1:25 mark.
    If your Toto has the pink flapper and the flapper leaks, there is a design flaw, see this video th-cam.com/video/bthKunIy2G8/w-d-xo.html

    Ok this video is awesome and I followed it and replaced several parts. Shocked that I got everything reassembled however now the toilet won’t stop running! What did I do wrong?

    yes, clean the rubber seal, dirt (rust) from the water line can prevent a good seal. They should sell a kit for just the rubber pieces.

    After removing the refill tube, pop the blue cap off the top of the valve. There is a small lip that sticks out across from the refill tube connection. You can see it sticking out if you look at the top of the valve. Put your thumb under it and lift up.

      Know How Now I have a fill valve that shuts off at the proper moment an inch under the lip of the overflow valve. However, if I come back 30 minutes later, the water is then at the top of the fill valve, trickling over. I then did a service cleaning, but the gaskets and strainer all looked great as the entire assembly is only a year old. Any ideas as to what it could be?

    Is there an adjustment for the water level?

    • @Know-How-Now
      @Know-How-Now  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but doubt that you can adjust the level in the tank without removing the valve. On some models you can adjust the level in the bowl too. I have a video that shows how to install this valve. It shows how to adjust the water levels. th-cam.com/video/Szq1RnxWpSs/w-d-xo.html

    You could try a Flowmaster valve unit. When I first moved into my house I replaced a valve with the cheapest Flowmaster I found at Home Depot. ~ $8. It was still working well after almost 10 years, no leaks. I replaced the entire toilet last month with a low flow Toto.

      Thanks for commenting, Joe Blow. lol, love the name! That's a great idea, the Korkys seem to be a little temper mental.

      Both valves have had their issues. Both are still good valves. Basically it comes down to your water's quality, and pressure.

      I've reviewed the video and for reasons I can't explain/fix, the part of the video that shows removing the cap has been deleted. There is a little lip/tab on the bottom of the blue cap. You have too pull up on the cap at that point to remove it. Thank you for calling it to my attention. I apologize for taking a few days to respond. I have a similar video that shoes how to do this. Go to the 1:25 mark. th-cam.com/video/L20V0_QQlyE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rXPUna79fAaxPNF5

    Chlorine destroys the seal.

      Absolutely!!! Was working on one out in the country. Well water. I was amazed how the seals looked. Perfect. This toilet was 20 years old!!! Even had the original flapper. City water eats them up if they use chlorine. I see people put those chlorine tablets in the tank. All seals and flappers are destroyed in a few years.
