Another magic video. this chap is my favourite youtuber for car repairs now. So detailed. I am getting back into this industry and thats why I am watching these videos. They are a great help. Thanks for sharing, Rob.
Can I skip doing the clutch side bleeding part and the ABS part when bleeding my brake fluid or is that mandatory? I only have limited tools and i'm doing this by myself. Please let me know. Thanks, and great video, very informative.
It's not just a spongy brake pedal to be wary of. The moisture causes corrosion and will kill the brake calipers. Particularly common on the rear calipers since they are further from the reservoir. Happens quite commonly on Golfs.
I’m replacing the rear calipers , rotors and pads on mk5 gti. A quick question the new revision rotors are 282mm to avoid the rusty outside lip and my originals I pulled off were 286mm. Do I need a new 282mm caliper bracket or can I use the 286mm bracket ?
Hello Michael Thanks for this helpful video. I have a question about how you put the car on 4 stands...do you have a video about how to do that? I have a Golf R MK6 and would like to perform this job but not sure how to put my car on 4 stands Thanks for your help
Helder Borges Jack up the front on the reinforced part of the frame behind the front wheel. This will lift up the front and rear wheels. Put a jack stand under the curved jack support that's a little in and a little forward from that jack point. Put another jack stand on the rear jack point. Then repeat this on the other side of the car. Voila!
of my rear right bleed nipple is blocked and I'm wanting so swap it for a new one ,once fitting would I have to bleed the whole system again or just the two rears ?
Can someone answer do I have to bleed the brakes when I am replacing the fluid with a different brand but it is still DOT 4? Like in the video I do not know what fluid was used
Thank you for making this video! Can both bleeds be done with the required 1.5L? If not, can one use a cheaper auto parts store fluid for the 1st bleed before using high performance fluid? Thank you again!
Well, that's a question. As you have RHD car, the front right wheel is actually closer to the main than the front left. Or is it the ABS module that comes in play? I really don't know.
dr0pthehamm3r Great question. I would probably ask TheHumbleMechanic for that advice. It might be the same order because of the ABS pump. But it could also depend on the brake fluid reservoir, if so, the procedure could be different. Probably THM has a video in his channel.
Wrong use of diagnostic computer. He is using "output test" procedure to bleed brakes. Big mistake. "Output test" is used only to check brake functionality wheel per wheel. Bleed must be done via "basic settngs, brake system bleed".
save yourself 2 hours.... i learned that the mkiv Golf Brake master cylinder has 2 nipples that need to be bled aswell as the nipples at each of the 4 wheels
This guys workmanship is very good. I'd trust him on my car...

Hi. Please make a detailed video on coolant flush and refill.
Your videos are good, keep up the good work.

What did you end up doing ?
excellent vid... sets a new standard, big thanks

Bit late to the party Mike, great vid, is this sequence the same for a 2016 polo(mk5) gti (6c)
Love these videos, very professional, clear and to the point. You could do a motor mount video?
Great Video, I have a DSG mk5 gti, is there anything different to carry out?
Wife would kill me if I use her Pyrex glass.... 😁😁 Excellent work.
when you bleed the abs, are you doing it with or without the pressure bleeder in/on? thanks

hi there, I have a 2016 gti manual and was wondering if the order follows what you did for which sides to start and end with?
Can we do it without taking the wheels off? TIA
If you can access the bleed nipple with the wheels installed, by all means proceed!
Is this the same for mk4 golf? Yours videos are excellent quality.
Hello. I have two questions: What brand and model are the brake discs in this video, and how pleased are you with them? Cheers.
Hello Michael
Thanks for this helpful video. I have a question about how you put the car on 4 stands...do you have a video about how to do that? I have a Golf R MK6 and would like to perform this job but not sure how to put my car on 4 stands
Thanks for your help
+MicksGarage1 That would be great thanks

What is the bleed sequence in an American ‘06 gti?

When you are pressurizing the master cylinder are you not introducing air pressure into the system first and then pressurized new fluid?
NO if you have enough fluid in the bleeder recevoir only pressurised fluid is going in.
Plz let me know I need to change the break oil of my golf 5 thanks
Nice video. Any idea the sequence of bleeding for Mk VI Golf TDi?
Same
Great support.Thanks
Do you need to repressurize the pressure bleeder between calipers or does the 10psi hold long enough?
Make sure to pump and check each caliper. Keeping it at around 10 psi
hi lads, just wondering if the cap on the draper brake bleed kit will fit all cars??
Are you sure its the frony wheels first to bleed?
Im confused
It is correct. this is the method needed for this system that is stated in the workshop manual.
What kind of gloves are you wearing?
Can I bring my golf 5 to your garage I need change oil break
would you know capacities or bleed sequence for mk6 golf gti?
It's the same but the capacities I'm not sure, The thing I can't quite understand Mick Is bleeding the ABS or bleeding the brakes with ABS assist.
hi mick do you bleed with engine on or off
ignition also off ?
Mateusz Yes.
Hi dud do u do that job in your garage or just for the video ?
Do I need to take the wheels off to get to this?
you?...no
Hi,
Is the ABS bleeding procedure with VCDS can be done with a 1man pressurised tool hooked to the reservoir?
Thanks
where can you recycle old engine oil?
is it the same bleeding order for LHD vehicles?
Well, that's a question. As you have RHD car, the front right wheel is actually closer to the main than the front left. Or is it the ABS module that comes in play? I really don't know.

Do there is different option how to bleed the brakes no everyones have an a special pump for bleedinf this vydeos is not give sense
Hygroscopic, not hydroscopic
Wrong use of diagnostic computer. He is using "output test" procedure to bleed brakes. Big mistake. "Output test" is used only to check brake functionality wheel per wheel. Bleed must be done via "basic settngs, brake system bleed".
Save money garage bills put do this at your risk not response damage or injury
My dog died after drinking brake fluid from the wife's measuring jug ..heart breaking.
Pasta
4 bottles of brake fluid, that's a bit optimistic
save yourself 2 hours.... i learned that the mkiv Golf Brake master cylinder has 2 nipples that need to be bled aswell as the nipples at each of the 4 wheels
3m16
yer not "bleeding the fluid"
you are bleeding the AIR out of the lines.
