I am a student violinist, and my teacher told me to listen and learn from your version of the Bach. I must say this is simply beautiful. The beauty from the harmony and the timing cannot be described by words.
The guitar reflects the feelings of the composer from ages ago in the best way possible, with the pure and honest heart and soul of the beloved interpreter... ❤👏
Thanks Marc. I do study the music very deeply, but at the beginning and the end of it, the most important question is "What is this music telling me and What do I want to say?" So thanks for that comment. I think you understand.
I prefer the tone like that. standard pitch sounds very high and "tight" to me. At standard pitch you can play louder and stronger, but at the lower pitch there is more variety of colour-- and maybe articulation also? But that might just be me and my personal technique. I find the lower pitch warmer and more gentle. It can give you intonation problems though, so that can be frustrating.
@@sonatasandpartitas exactly, I just barely decrypted that bit from the organ version myself. I am very happy to see your recent uploads, long time coming *nod
@@michaelpolcari9034 haha. Thanks. Honestly this video took a LOT of work. Plus, we re issued second editions of our arrangements, which was a huge undertaking. Such great music.... I am hoping to get back on track and putting the videos out faster. I have lots in my head that I want to make. Have you tried to play the organ version?? It should be possible to do a lot of it with a low D tuning. I keep trying to convince people to do it!
@@sonatasandpartitas It is wonderful video that i will be watching again. I'd love to pick up a copy of the new book - please point me in the direction of the organ arrangement... tabulated..

Thank you very much. And thank you to your teacher also!
The Bach violin solo arrangements for guitar by Heather and Frank are great. -One of the best sheet music purchases I've every made.
Thanks

Yes, I know that you study Bach very deeply, but you also put all of YOU into this performance. I was spellbound. Truly wonderful.

Sublime. Thank you for this masterpiece! Which guitar is this? I also love instruments.
This guitar is a Robert Ruck. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing this amazing recording with us! A question: why do you tune half a tone below the standard tuning?

great transition off the first measures (:39) nice
Thanks. Not sure if you mean that little run up leading to :39? I took that from the organ version.

@@michaelpolcari9034 I don't know of any tabulated version of the organ version, BWV 538. I am not sure if if has been done.
