Had a 1971 Sportster. ALL AMERICAN MADE BIKE.
EASY TO HANDLE. DROVE SWEET AND HARD. LOVED IT.. WHEN I SAT IN THE BACK. I HAD A HIGH BAR FOR BACK SUPPORT. YOU NEED IT FOR LONG TRIPS. We bought a second seat, the King/Queen.
Yes, the was a great one then.

Tim, I’m not motorcycle informed but what’s the difference in Street Glide and Road Glide Motorcycles? I noticed the bike inside the dealer you pointed out had no seat for a second person.
It has a rear seat just no backrest. I will have to buy one. The RD has a fixed fairing and the SG has a batwing fairing attached to the handle bars. That's the big difference.
Hi Tim you guys get really excited with your toys just like the women get excited with theirs well I'm excited for you I hope you get it it looks like you might you get your mindset on it and it will happen. That is one nice bike back in my day in the '50s candy apple red was the thing or midnight blue oh these were cars though I don't see those colors anymore the blue almost looked black that would look good on that bike well I'll quit rambling now and did you good night it's evening here in Southern California .

I can understand if someone is happy to receive his new toy. But when you start to point out the supposed advantages of the new model over the previous model, then you should be fair and keep in mind that there are other views that don't necessarily find the new one better or more beautiful. For example, I like the analogue instruments much better, I don't want to look at a screen all the time. Also, the partial water cooling is not exactly "nice" when I see the cylindrical expansion tank on the left frame tube. Do I really need the bigger engine? More power is still an argument for the seller, but I think it's much better if a new motorcycle is simply better in terms of chassis, has reduced consumption and has become more comfortable. And you can get more out of the old 114cui and 117cui motorcycles with significantly less investment. Suspension from Wilbers with the Nivomat, adjustable exhaust system from Jekill & Hyde, plus a tailor-made engine mapping and a seat adapted to the individual seating feeling... and you have a perfect touring motorcycle. The surcharge for the new CVO is subtly excessive, but as long as there are people who define themselves by it, prices will continue to rise excessively. Who would blame HD for selling the stuff at an overpriced price if the customer willingly pays for it? It's up to us whether we go along with it...

Your childlike joy about the new bike is also understandable, but not everything about it is actually - technically speaking - a step forward or an improvement, it's just different. And when it comes to optics, it's the same as always in life, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And, as is well known, you can't argue with that. I wish you a lot of fun with your dream.
