To see Nuno so young tapping into his raw musical creativity and bringing it into being is a gift to all of us. I don't doubt for one second that the idea to have a cameraman onboard was Nuno's. Gary was great, but they could have plugged any good singer in and Nuno could have carried them to success. Hell, this vid is proof...plug another singer in and this is still a bomb ass song. Get rid of Nuno and there is no song.
I've heard Pat say that Nuno won't stop when it comes to writing and composing. A 14-month-long tour tour would end and there would be Nuno the next day in the studio, working nonstop.
IMO, this is Extreme's best song by far. It showcases their musical depth & maturity on every level... song structure, lyrics, hooks, vocals, guitar solo, arrangement & performance. It also shows their originality. Sure, you can hear elements of their influences(Queen, Aerosmith, Van Halen) but not so much that they sound like any one band. It's a nice even mix. Bottom line, I don't love everything by Extreme but songs like Rest in Piece, More Than Words and Stop The World make me really appreciate their talent & depth. Cheers
I wanted to cry.....I would come home from school at the end of the afternoon and run to watch the clip trip from TV gazeta here in Brazil or dic mtv 10 most requested, this song fell among the 10 when it was released, I fell in love for this music, but at that time 90,91,92 vinyl was super expensive, the pirated cassette tapes that existed were difficult to find extreme, you could only find bands that dominated at that time. Today, seeing the translation, I understand why my heart was beating fast when I heard this song, beautiful...one of the most important songs for this world that serves from generation to generation
Blimey ... I love Queen, Beatles, Zeppelin and ABBA too. Queen and Beatles wrote the best music I have ever heard especially the Early Queen stuff like Q I, Q II and Shear heart attack also Day At The Races albums are wonderful:))

My band opened for Extreme in Sept of 1988 at the Living Room in Providence, RI. They were incredible that night. They did More Than Words as a sound check, and they loved our music. An incredible experience.
@zzerovisibility there amazing live saw them twice one time with ratt with a horrible sound set up and Extreme still sounded amazing it just goes to show there pure talent.
What an incredible song writing team Gary and Nuno are. It's great to see the process. Then Pat and Paul came in with their mad skills and they really end up with something quite remarkable.
That was so great I loved being a fly on the wall to watch that creation happen they are so talented! Just cemented my mind that extreme is one of the most underrated bands of the 80s
This is my all time favorite solo. It must feel so amazing to get together with another person and just write a song. It seems like its very gratifying and draning at the same time. But also very rewarding especially if it is truly coming from your heart.

The kid's just touched by an angel. There's no way getting around that. His radio is tuned to the heavens. He's just trying to figure out the songs he hears on that radio. After 30 years of following him this is the only reasonable explanation I can come up with.
HEY... you guys, this is so cool you video taped this. I am a guitarist/singer/songwriter myself and have always loved you guys. With that being said, most people truly don't realize how much work actually goes into writing a song. It takes a lot of practice and patience working with the rest of the band to make it all come together. And that's just one song. Now multiply that times at least 8-10 songs per album. It really is a lot of work. But at least it's "Extremely" rewarding!
That's awesome to see the writing in process. I'm curious how far along in the writing process the first full band version was though. Nuno seemed to have the solo almost completely worked out. As much as I'd love the illusion that it was all off the cuff, the song may have been pretty much done by that point, and it was mostly for the camera's. Still.... very cool to see this!!
+Erik Z Yeah you can tell as he was writing it that the melodies were just flowing out of him.....he probably had the whole thing including the solo sort of mapped out in his head ...then just had to execute it ...crazy
@@MattCollisMusic Also, you clearly see that this video shows how they're working on the song on multiple occasions. It's not "hey I have an idea" and twenty minutes later Gary's got the lyrics to it written down. They revisited the idea multiple times, and this video shows how it all comes together. We also see how Nuno and Gary suss out how many bars the verses and the chorus have. Yes, it was Nuno's idea, but hell yes it was a collaboration. It's how good bands work.
@@fryke Mate I don't need a lecture on how bands work. Actually if you'd done some songwriting you'd know that the best songs often do just pop out like that (read about how More Than Words was written - aswell as many other songwriters that tell this story) .
