i live really close to yellowstone and i've gotten the chance to visit lamar canyon quite often, and i can confirm the game did justice to the actual location! 🍂🍂🍃
You have to become a mate of a rival pack leader by killing their mate (leader same gender as your wolf) then going to another map and then back and sleeping in their territory and the leader will be able to be courted
Once you have gone through the process of becoming the rival pack leader, you must then continue to raise their older pups of the year until they are 80 pounds and their experience bar is full. Then you can find and choose a den, and then you can have a new litter of pups!
You can become a rival pack leader on any map and on any difficulty! First you must take out the leader of the same gender as you, then you have to exit the rival wolf territory and come back later. When you come back, the remaining leader will be hostile with you. This means you cannot interact with them or become their mate yet. If they are hostile like this, you must leave the territory again and come back later over and over. You must keep doing this until the remaining pack leader is no longer hostile and ready to court. When this happens, a notification saying "Pack wolves ahead" will appear. If the remaining leader is there at this point, you can become their mate! It's hard though, sometimes the remaining leader finds a new mate first. Or sometimes the remaining leader just remains hostile for a very long time. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll try to answer as quickly as I can :)

I’m in hellroaring mountain. Now I killed the female pack leader what now
Continue sleeping in their territory, and trying to court them (the opposite gendered leader)
