      Howdy neighbor. Just a little North of you here in The South of Michigan. Funny seeing a 2 day old comment on a 5yr old video. I stumbled onto it again as well. Billy is a pleasure to work with. Although he’s a mover and a shaker once the saws are running, he invests the time to make sure everyone on his team is up to speed with equipment and comprehension of the task ahead.
      Bless’ns to ya, Tedd

    I'm here after long day doing small things out in the shed today , and this is so enjoying watching you fell trees and share your knowledge , talk about peaceful listen to the hummus if the saw , still got taste of Two Stroke in my mouth Lol from working on my outboards and cranking them up for start if fishing season , as well cranking up my saws for first trip in the woods in over two months to trim out some trapping lines over the spring .

    Thanks, Buckin. I’ve learned volumes from your videos! When I look back and see the many mistakes I’ve made through the years, I can’ believe I didn’t get seriously hurt or killed! I tell my various friends, who use wood in Winter, to take a look at your videos to see how it’s actually supposed to be done. And the icing on the cake is your clear appreciation of God’s presence in your life, and your various inspirational statements!

    Another great video billy!! I’m a landscaper from Maine, up in the north country ;). We do mostly mowing/clean ups, but there’s also some tree cutting, and boy have I learned a lot from watching your content.
    You see, years ago (2012), I was humbled, greatly, by a serious work injury, something I know you’ve gone through as well. We were cleaning up leaves on a job site, we were using a Little Wonder leaf vacuum attached to the back of the truck, that’s what we used to suck up our leaf piles. Long story short, a guy on the crew (not me), clogged the intake hose, and took it off to clean it out, his error was leaving the machine ON, it was on low idle, but on nonetheless. I was raking somethings towards the truck and basically walked right into the running leaf vacuum, it caught my left glove and sucked me in. I got COMPLACENT and put my guard down, if I had been more careful it wouldn’t have happened. My arm was all twisted up inside it, luckily my arm clogged the machine and shut it off before it killed me. But as unlucky as I was, I was also lucky, GOD was with me that day. The rescue crew cut up the machine and actually managed to get my arm/hand out in one piece!!!! After that, a couple of AMAZING surgeons and 11 surgeries, I still have my left arm and hand today :). I’ve lost a lot of movement, and it’ll never be the same, but I still have it, I’m WHOLE, and back landscaping.
    NEVER GIVE UP friends, we have as amazing community here, and it’s still growing!! Billy, your an inspiration, and I can tell “safety” is important to you, and that holds a real special place in my heart. So to all my fellow Soldiers of Kindness, you’re all good people, so we want you all to stay happy and safe, you can never be too careful, the heavy equipment we use is very unforgiving, never forget that
    LOVE TO YOU ALL

    I see Red Oak,White Oak and the dead ones are Ash.It's a shame what the Ash Borer Beetle has done to all of the Ash trees.I think the tree at the 18 minute mark was a Cherry (wonderful wood).
    I enjoyed seeing you cut the trees in Indiana and the challenges that you faced.I have 40 acres of woods in Northern Kentucky with virtually the same tree species.I don't fall big timber but seeing fence wire,saplings throwing chains,trunks wanting to pinch bars and chips that aren't always huge coming off the saw tells me that what I experience cutting the same wood is pretty much normal and I'm doing ok with my sawing skills.I think our wood around here works on a chain pretty good and having extras to swap out is the way to go.I grind mine afterwards instead of filing in the field.

    That 461 is new isn't it? After about 10 tanks of fuel mine was noticeably better running and had more power... I use 93 octane gas, with no ethanal, and synthetic mix oil. It runs clean and reliably and with a 25" bar for falling and bucking is well balanced. I suspect 32" is a bit much bar for that powerhead if it is sunk dog deep in a hard wood... MS 661 time if you really need a 32" bar!

    • @johngrossbohlin7582
      @johngrossbohlin7582 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Sir, familiarity matters! It is always preferable to use tools with which you are familiar and comfortable... Saws and most other tools really do feel different whether they be gas, electric, or meat (i.e., muscle) powered!

    • @johngrossbohlin7582
      @johngrossbohlin7582 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've found that what I cut has a large impact on how much bar I can use... pine and hemlock (dead or alive) are a lot easier to cut than dead white oak or cherry! I've been cutting a lot of ash, cherry, and white oak snags and fallen trees and my 25" bar tackles them just fine. Some of those dead white oak seemed like they were really cast iron!

    Really good footage. What becomes of all the tops? Does it get used for firewood or just leave it behind for nature to take its course? Keep up the content, I have been binge watching after work. Lol don't even watch tv anymore.

    You know how to cut logs for timber, so many modern loggers cut their notch with the angle cut on top and waste 4 to 6 inches of log.

      Antony Roebuck it’s a brand new saw that’s not broken in yet, and it’s running the longest bar that’s recommended.

    Why didn't you find a husky dealer?! Lol. That 461 will wake up after a while. They usually always do. A little hop up and a 3/4 wrap and they rip pretty good to be honest. Have 2 of em and like em both But I've got 660s, 372xps, 390, 044s, 036(my favorite) etc etc. im not saw prejudice aslong as it pulls chain well. Hope all is well buckin. Hello from Washington state

      I have a ms460 as well and it's definitely a preferred choice over a 461 but it's totally hopped. Bigbore, timing, etc
