To make the challenge easier or rather doable I would recommend starting with a cannibal religion, or if you don't have the ideology dlc then giving him the cannibal trait would work just as well. Two mods that could help with hunting would be simple sidearms, so you could keep a melee weapon on you, and run and gun, it lets you move while firing with an accuracy penalty (The penalty can be adjusted in the mod settings).

I usually build my walls out of silver (reduces raid points because lower wealth) and you can also no build the corners on your wall. This is especially important when you’re using wood for the walls and need that for a campfire.
16:35 the running in-lore theory is that you, the player, are an archotech AI controlling the pawns and world in general.

Also you would need enough steel to build a wind turbine, battery and a heater so steel is extremely important.

Use your initial silver to build walls. This will improve the room quality, reduce your wealth which reduces raid points, and saves steel to build a wind turbine.
Also consider going to other tiles to hunt. You can set it to allow you multiple bases and then switch to a base a couple tiles away for extra hunting as needed.

Lots of good advice on here. One thing that I didn't see mentioned. That meteorite, once it's mined, leaves stone beneath it, you can then place a deep drill on it for metal and stone.
What I see other people do for this tile is to accept people who want to join, strip them, then draft them to go stand in the cold until they collapse and die. Free gear and free food. Also, the corpses are less likely to be eaten than the pile of meat, so its ok to leave the corpse a little while before you butcher it, that way you don't have to worry about it taking up space, except when you need the leather, of course, you want to butcher then. fiber corn is a source of wood but im not sure if you wouldve been able to plant anything in the beginning
Yeah, I tried it as a test today, but I can only grow like two at a time, and each one only gives two pieces of wood, I think. I thought it would be great, but sadly, it doesn't work out the best.
Fiber corn can be grown with only a torchlight, I think, though, so if at all you can grow it, you should on sea ice just to renew your torch/fire wood and to raise plant xp. The problem is no dirt, so you need hydroponics. I don't think pots can grow anything but lilies and roses without mods.
@@buckaroobonzai2909 yea in testing the torch does provide light but the plant takes at minimum 6 days to grow for 2 wood.

It might be better to start with the starting tribal supplies and the five pawns for such a difficult start.
otherwise, it might be better to start with less components and more wood also, consider using silver as a building material in the early game. 200 sliver is still 20 walls and leaves more steel to use for furniture. it will also leave some materials to build a trap with.
swap the pants for a tribal wear as well. restrict the food so that your pawn can only eat meals when they reach 10% food need so that they get the full nutrition amount and it will also stop him from carrying meals.
these are mostly sweaty tactics but it might help ice survive a few days longer. even at 5000 hours, I have never attempted tribal sea ice and I send you well wishes.

Steam geysers warmup your room, build around it
Sea ice doesn't have geysers genius. It's ice on the sea.

@@toxictv_ I almost exclusively play sea ice. It's the best way to play the rim world especially if you start naked with zero supplies.

@@toxictv_ it only works with pain is virtue ideology. To summon a new colonist to strip and eat then migrate to an ancient danger with the mechanics chip.
I don't think it's possible to survive sea ice without cannibal trait, at least I never managed. I used mod bad people to turn my pawn into cannibal gradually, but I don't think it was updated in a while. All corners of the buildings can be removed and silver can replace steel as a building material I guess bronze too although I never used that mod. You should attack wolves and crawlers when there are visitors around they probably won't help a lot but will help as food and you would get their stuff. What I used to do is shoot from the door then retreat inside and repair the door - repeat till stronger animals are mortally wounded then wait for them to collapse. Hope this helps.
Yea I decided to have Ice start with the cannibal trait and a extra 100 wood/steel.

Instead of building a fire, you can save wood by building on top of a geyser. The geyser heats the place plenty and in some cases it’s too hot so you have to open the door. It’s the only viable way to survive as the wood you bring could very easily be all you get for a long period of time.
On sea ice there are no geysers unfortunately.
Geysirs would make it a lot easier. Free heat, food and building material.
Unfortunately they do not exist on the ice sheet.

Ice sheet is so reliant on random even with mediocre tech.
Tribal start is even harder since you have no geysirs either.
Maybe it works if you wander of into the tundra, make the nessesary build up there and then settle back?
Still its amazing how you increased the number of days with each try.

How do you get the whole world to be frozen
You lower the temperature all the way down and raise the rainfall to it's max. I do recommend lowering the globe coverage otherwise it might not be fully ice
