Hey what was the total time to remove and reinstall the dash? Ive got a 2007 with a sticky dash which would be swapped out under an extended warranty but I wasn't aware missed that extension. I emailed Subaru of America and they offered me $500 voucher but the cost to have it replaced at the dealership is $1066 plus tax. I've done lots of work in cars but this seemed to be a PITA.
Shop time should have a standard time for the job. I did it in a couple hours but I'm not a professional and I was trying my best to film all the steps as well.
@@bruceyyyyy I did some more looking. I found the shop time is 2.3 hours and the labor they wanted to charge was $663 which I think is crazy! The dash from Subaru is $403.
Iv tried doing some digging but not getting much information, is this similar to a 2003 forester dashboard? Airbags went off after the front left lower control arm failed and through us into a ditch so need to replace the dash
@@bruceyyyyy after talking to a friend he says that those screws don't need to be undone to get the dash out I see in the video that you did have those two vents off

@@blanejr1 Just think, with $500 off it's almost a normal price!
That seems like a high labor rate. $250 an hour?

It should be similar but not identical.
How did you get the glove box out
Check out my other video on changing the cabin air filter.
How did you get the two phillips head screws out at the top near windscreen under the vents?
Could you take a picture? I think if it's tight a right hand screwdriver or driver bit ratchet would work.

What is the issue where you need to remove the full dashboard? I was doing a swap but I am curious what other jobs would require it.
@@bruceyyyyy Coat of paint or flocking
I like your style.
You should say take apart a dash. You start out with the dash already taken out. What a stupid way to point out what to do instead of filming it.
Learn to read. I mention that other parts of the dash are other videos before this section starts.
