The court thinks therell be competition for the throne later and exile NOx while he is still very young. They keep matin because the court advisors know she's easy to manipulate and use her as a puppet. Nox grows up in a poor village with a family that used to serve the court but he doesn't know that matin is his sister or that he was born in the capital. His village is attacked, his adoptive sister is killed and Nox vows revenge on his sister matin and the kingdom. Matin knows he is her brother and tries to get him to see reason and doesn't really understand what a corrupt government she has in her kingdom.
