    Great video. We got snowed out again last night about 6. We hauled enough dry corn to town to make sure we had room for the rest of the corn. 2 days of combining left if all goes well. Will be glad to finally have the crop off. Look forward to the next video.

    We used to do the silage bags and only used one driver, all you do is take a string and wrap it around the steering wheel tight and then tie it off on something so the steering wheel won't move, just have to keep an eye on it so it stays straight

  • @333lowman
    @333lowman 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know about corn bags but on silage bags you leave the tractor in neutral till you drop the bag because it can push from the compression and blow the trans or rear end out

    Dad and I quit farming when the 4020 John Deere was king so the new technology is totally amazing to us. Would you consider in one video in the spring showing us how your field design is setup in the computer? Is it all satellite imagery that is refreshed every day? How do you choose your first row or pass for planting that controls the rest of the work in that field? It's just greek to us who never had the opportunity to use it. BTW, we live in the heart of rice country in Arkansas so most of our fields are precision graded for irrigation and water control. This past spring we had torrential rain for days with thousands of acres flooded for several days so short season beans saved many farmers this year.

    • @MillennialFarmer
      @MillennialFarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rawhide Adventures I will try to hit on the technology more at some point! It changes so quickly now and honestly I think a lot of it is a waste of $$$!!! It's fun to buy technology, but the ROI isn't always there.

    Awesome job on showcasing a modern farmers life. Thanks so much and I am a farmer but our farm practices, crops, everything is so different. i.e. " Complete whiteout conditions".... to us that means you can't see the end of your header for snowfall blocking your visibility. Thanks as I know it must be a hassle doing all the video editing, filming, everything that goes with what you are doing.

    The struggle IS real, and you handle it well. Unfortunately lots of practice over the years, I bet. Thanks for making it entertaining for the rest of us, taking time to make these videos in among the rush of harvest. Loved the prison joke. Did the problem end up being the universal joint in the angle of the auger? Obviously you got it fixed enough to go picking again before Monday's struggles.

    Wow, always something when farming. Soon you’ll have nice weather, well probably later than sooner. It will be great to see how the grain bags work. Are the bags reusable, I bet it’s hard to roll the bag up when you empty it out. Another great video.

    • @MillennialFarmer

  • @evan3561
    @evan3561 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Trust me when you get to the end of Bag Line stop filling. If you fill it to much it'll be a pain in the ass to unload with the extractor. Also he careful putting wet corn in a bag when you go to extracted the corn from the bag it can freeze and break the extractor. Been there done that not fun. Good thing we have two batters and two extractors

    • @MillennialFarmer
      @MillennialFarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @Farmall450

    Questions,
    Will the corn in the bag freeze and if so will that make it harder to get out?
    Will the corn in the bag gain moisture, and if so will it heart the corn?
    I see there was a motor coach in the barn, what type is it? I have a Renegade Ikon coach 45' and love it. My coach has a 600 HP Cummins, Cascadia Freightliner. Four slide outs.

      It shouldn't pick up any moisture. I'm not concerned about the bag or the corn freezing, but I am wondering what happens if it freezes to the ground around the edges... I guess we will find out! As long as the bag stays sealed, the corn should stay good for a long time.

      Grain in bag stays pretty constant moisture wise, only some issues if wildlife makes holes but you tape them up asap and its all good. Heavy snow can be a bit of an issue along edges of bag but they pick up fairly well so as long as there's no ice you're usually fine.

    Why don't locate the bagger closer to the bins (not in fields). that way you can disc the fields.

    I think the bin guys were a bit paranoid while they were fixing the auger!

    I've never filled a bag but I've loaded out of one just gotta keep adjusting your truck no big deal really. About like loading out of a bin with an augar. Good luck with the rest of harvest

      BigJim57 I didn't because I wasn't 100% confident that new one would work. The old one had been there so long it didn't have any numbers on it anymore!

    " A big Bayg. We are gonna fill up the Baygs. " Lmao. It's BAG!!! LOL! I love how you pronounce certain words with that Minnesota accent. LOL the accent is so much like a Canadian from Saskatchatoon. And I can tease Canadians. I'm a Canadian citizen in America 🇺🇸. My father is from Canada Ehh! 🇨🇦. 😊🤗

    I’d honestly recommend leaving plenty on the end of the bag like you did in the video. The unbagging machines usually take quite a bit of bag to get started; you won’t have to shovel as much to un bag it as well.

    Great video. Sure makes working the night shift a bit easier when the 911 phones are not killing us. I'm curious how you get the corn out of the bags? Surely not with a front loader?
