This season will cover close but not all of the remaining rank wars. The next season will finish up the rank wars as well as some other bits
It's true, people shunned the show for being a typical toei production (i.e bad quality of animation, lucklustre pacing) now that it's changed in this season i'm glad to see more and more people liking it

Yeah I understand him being somewhat depressed since he's the captain and barely do things that don't rely on Kuga eventually Chika, but he was so worried about these things that he forgot what being a captain means, and that's perfectly fine, we got some ''character development'', but half the time they made him self pitty they could've used all that creen time to do other things and Mikumo's character development wouldn't change that much. I just think that they wasted screen time, I never said anything about whatever the heck you talked about.. P.S. I love the fact world triggers battles are so strategic. Even massively OP characters get spanked because of proper planning and strategy. This show turned a lot of people off with its animation and that's a huge shame. Because it's a great anime with a very intelligent cast and tight writing.
Yeah, the thing that a I love the most about this series is the strats and battle mechanics, one that is so good that a weak character like Mikumo can shine without needing any kind of powerup or unknown power that he got to know in the middle of the battle, no, every ability is or shown previous the match, or hinted some chapters before being used.
this show masters the one aspect of good shonen that many, many shonen fail at ; balance. fine tuning a character, and having them master their abilities, rather than unlocking new ones, is key to engaging shonen.
Despite the mistakes earlier in the match, I was surprised how Katori remained calm during this last scene. Not giving up and making a plan is very cool.
Katori is a genius, she just gets bored easily and angry too. You can see she learns fast throughout the match but she gets into complications with her own team alot.
That's tight writing: throughout this battle we could see some exploration and characterization about Katori, BUT the sole thing they never really addressed was the one thing they infodumped on us from the very beginning: that she is a genius/prodigy. It was at her lowest (alone, no arm nor leg) that we could see how she acts collected (aiming for a victory still in that situation) and had the skills to pull it through, giving a "closure" of sorts to her mini-arc (being the epilogue her explicit apologies to her teammates). That battle (and specially Osamu) changed her: made her face her worst side and how lenient she became with the "vows" she made (reinforced with the flashback) despite having it "all" in her favor, contrary to an still weak but willing Osamu, thus returning on track at the end. Even if losing, Katori won the most out of all soldiers in that battle. Maybe the author has some preference for that character since it is uncommon to receive a "well planned" introduction (even in a show like this that tries to give all characters some level of dimension and characterization, if not also exploration and development).

What I love about this episode is that it shows how while Tamakoma-2s new tactics are helping them a lot, they aren't OP and have downsides and ways to mitigate them, such as how Chicka's Lead Bullet Lightning could be stopped by debris or how opponents can also use Osamu's Spider, meaning that they still have to stay on their toes. I love anime that don't just have the protagonists steamroll the opponents after a power up, but take the time to show the strengths and weaknesses of their new abilities.
That is one of the best parts of World Trigger, how they have cool strategies and tactics, but still have flaws that can be countered if used repetitively. Specifically Osamu, his development by far is the most unique to me and I am here for it.
I love in this anime whenever the commentators realize who has won before we even get to see it, and they go (with extreme calmness and coolness) "tamakoma won this" and everyone else in the room is like "whaaat"

This anime is really underrated and season 1 was very good. But the filler they added in season 1 wasn't great. However, with the canon stuff so far it's freaking amazing.
I still think World Trigger 2nd Season was the best anime ever created. The level of complexity in many of the scenes especially in part 2 is a whole different level of storyboarding.

It's a sci if battle shonen that has a emphasis on team tactics, but doesnt ignore individual play, it's a great read imo though has a slow pace. If you're into any team esports or strategy/tactics I high recommend it.
