Loved watching you do this. Will need to tackle the water pump on my 96 soon and I am also expecting the "I guess we can pop the water pump off now" issue. Also interesting watching you work on the heater core. Much better to watch someone else and get a good idea of what I am in for. Great work. Thank you.

Hope it's easier on a 96, but I'm going to guess it won't be! Best of luck!

@@SealedBeamRallyTeam It’s a SAAB. It won’t be. At least they are consistent. Will take the radiator out but at least now I know.

@@SealedBeamRallyTeam It's not any easier on a 96. we are trying to do it now. I have been bathing the bolts/nuts in PB Blaster, WD-40 and other penetrants hoping the bolts will loosen up magically. Our first attempt resulted in the removal of the hood (very easy to do, no bolts/nuts to loosen), the radiator (four bolts) and then the grill (several screws) Being able to remove the grill may make it easier than the Sonett since everything "appears" to be accessible BUT the nuts and bolts. Terrible design.

@@juanm2188 Sorry I missed this comment. Did it come out alright? Have to heat it up to get em out, or not?

@@SealedBeamRallyTeam no we could not get the water pump out. All the bolt are frozen in. We tried everything. I am going to bring the car to my Saab. Mechanic and have him pull the engine to get to them

I’m enjoying the videos. I have a 71 that I got running and driving again after 30 years of sitting in a garage. I also recently purchased a 74 for a parts car. I have those switches if you want me to send them to you. Only 2 are intact and one is a hazard switch but you can have them.

Congratulations! That's very kind of you. We were able to combine bits and lightly glue one together, but are still missing an aux light switch. Shoot me an email at linnerdesign@gmail.com! Thanks!

That water pump bolt that’s blocked by the engine mount is legitimately one of the worst bolts I’ve ever run into in all my years. Truly a nightmare to change the WP on these Sonetts.

Thanks! I have a Weber carb for it, but no other engine modifications in the works. Should be getting a full front end rebuild this winter though.

With the exhaust tucked up it'll be just fine. I would like a skid plate though.

@@SealedBeamRallyTeam Yeah but with those lights you should just go fully rally spec w spare tire mounted on the rear hatch and everything :D

Originally I wanted to build it into a stage rally car, but aside from fiberglass bodies being very questionable from a rules perspective, parts are not really available enough to be stuffing it into trees.

@@SealedBeamRallyTeam Learn how to make some molds.... super cheap/easy if you don't care about them being perfect. Could make spares pretty easy. :)

And windshields? The bodies fall off trees. It's the other stuff that's hard to get. If you could even get a fiberglass body through tech inspection, it's going to need a LOT of parts made custom or shipped from Europe
