Before Daemon went to Harrenhal he didn’t believe in prophecies, omens, and magic like his brother, so Alys had to break him down so that he was open to seeing and believing the Prophecy of Aegon’s dream. That’s why she said he was a closed fist when he arrived at Harrenhal but today he was ready to see.
Perfectly said
@@PhoenixRising11 And I love the way they used language here. A closed fist! Nom nom nom! They fed the children! 😍
@@PhoenixRising11 Also, it’s the ultimate hero’s journey for him. He can easily slice and dice his way without pause but he had to humbled and made to be a believer. A spiritual journey indeed! This show!!
@@leaundrajones2392 Agreed!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The wind whispered, "Traitor." I love it!
Its been 100% confirmed by the show runners that the first of next season is the battle of the gullet one of the biggest sea battles in history and it involves dragons. And Daemon doesn't want the crown anymore he is loyal to the end to Rhaenyra.
The gullet is gonna be crazy, I hope they do it right
I LOVE that you both hummed the Pirates theme song LOL! I thought I was the only one! I've loved watching your reactions this season. Looking forward to watching more :)
Thank you!! 😁
“How big is it?” The look on Jeffy’s face! 😂😂😂
Haelena is actually a good dragon rider. Just dont think she's got it in her to actually fight or murder anyone.
In the books she is but in the show they say she's not used to it to manufacture drama between Aemond and Alicent so Alicent can go run to Rhaenyra.
@unc54 in the book she is not murdering people. What you on about?
Look at it this way guys. Next season will have plenty of battles, far more than the last two seasons. Trust, I’ve read Fire and Blood (not spoiling). Prepare yourselves.
Awww Aegon up here looking just like his daddy
Admiral Lohar is played by Abigail Thorn who hosts Philosophy Tube here on YT. Her voice is amazing! Perfect for this part! 🤓 🤓 🤓
Which explains the: "Who are you... A philosopher? "
@@GamiCross Yes! Nerds everywhere rejoiced!!! 😂
Lol you both put your hands up like ur under arrest when you's saw Vhagar 😂😂
"Aegon will be king again"
My boy has a mission🤧
Can't wait for him to retake the throne.
@@EmmaSoyer72well … no you know what I’m not going to spoil you
@@cambelloroxy9420 I have read F&B, so Idk what you are talking about because Aegon retake the throne after ending Rhaenyra's career.
@@EmmaSoyer72He doesn’t for long lol, he literally gets poisoned. You’d know that if you read the book
Yeah, this episode would be an A+ for me as anything but a finale.
But-apparently-they'd already spent like 8-months writing a 10-episode arc and were almost to production when cost cuts from the WBD merger were confirmed; now, they could only have 8-episodes and a lot less cgi. So the showrunners did what they could, there just wasn't enough time/$$ to fully redo it.
People were confused bc the the ceo says it was always going to be 8 eps, but some of the writers//show runners said no, it was og supposed to be 10.
I lean towards believing the writers myself. I can 100% see this finale being followed by a battle, then aftermath and setup for S3 in eps 9-10
Yeah the season was supposed to end with a certain big death during a battle which I won't spoil here.
i loved the harrenhal stuff just because it gave more dimension to his character and showed how his character would be more loyal to rhaenerya than ever
i don't blame the season for ending like that after knowing they were told to cut it 2 eps short without being able to touch the script hence the montage at the end
overall the season was full of good dialogue and further at least for me see some yin and yang in these characters and it has been so different to the book that i don't really care that much anymore as long as the story is still cool
I agree. I’m happy to wait for the battles next season because they can put all of their efforts into it instead of trying to squeeze them into the end of this episode. Also, I love world building, character and dialogue the most so I enjoyed the season.
Dude with the antlers was one of the green men. They guard the weirwoods in the Isle of Faces which is in the middle of the God's Eye which is the large lake just outside Harrenhal. You can see it when Rhaenyra and Addam fly to Harrenhal. So Alys is a green seer and Helaena is a dragon dreamer. You can also notice that Helaena has drawn all of her predictions on the walls of her room and in the sketchbooks.
Watched this in a work training and had to smack my mouth closed to stop me from BURSTING out laughing at 24:46
The wind whispered "Traitor" because in the end Ser Alfred betrayed Rhanerya.
Shame that same wind didn't blow when Alicent went to meet Rhaenyra
@@unc54bcoz she wasn't under the tree.
@@unc54Alicent was already inside.
That won’t be the only time Alfred will betray Rhaenyra.
@@LordFleaBottom What the f*ck do idiots like you get out of spoiling and hinting at things that will happen? Do you have zero consideration for others? Insufferable.-.
@@KDEADES One of my favorite little moments of the season. It reminds me of The Passion of Christ vibes. Minus the anti-semetic and racist director 😬
The Greens fumbled a big one! They have a powerful Dragon Dreamer in Helaena and instead of nurturing her gift and using it in the war, they ostracize her. FUMBLE!!
She said herself she doesn’t want to fight. I don’t think they could force her to join the war.
@@KCohere33 I didn’t mean physical fighting. I meant using her skills as a dreamer in the war. Alys is using hers but she has been nurtured and knows how to use her gifts. They just brush Helena off as being weird when she knows everything, literally. If you go back to most of the scenes showing her room, you can see the drawings where she has predicted everything. I feel bad for her but yeah she’s not willing to burn anyone. She’s not violent.
@@leaundrajones2392 Oh I see what you mean. I guess they didn’t really know how to deal with her powers, having no precedents for it.
@@KCohere33 I’m not talking about physical combat. I’m talking about a timeline where they use her dragon dreams to win.
Nah she fumbled herself by being useless
What do you take me for? - "Barbarians" Funny you should say that- Essos pretty much has their act together and views Westeros as the savage barbarians 😅
I wish y’all didn’t cut out my man Jace’s verbal take down of Ooof. That was a good scene.
@@dp20024 I would have had his head at that dinner though. He was being so disrespectful!
Harrenhal spent the whole season crushing that demon inside Daemon. I do not think he’ll betray his Queen.
Helaena is perfect as a dragon rider but she isn't a warrior. She flew her dragon in season 1.
nice reaction! you guys get it all
Setup/Buildup season like season 2 of GoT, Season 3 will be CRAZY from the get go.
She didn’t drop any mic, all she did was doom her house and children by refusing to use their second largest dragon to their advantage bc “I don’t wanna😡”. Aemond, Cole and Gwayne are the only greens actually taking action
Now we gotta wait 2 years for season 3
I dont think people remember what all went down in season one, not much happened frfr. Season 2 had something crazy almost every episode, we just wanted more. If they had 2 more episodes on this season it would be deadass perfect
So the way it's gonna go, is that Knight of the Seven Kingdom is coming out next year, the story takes place 100 years after the events of HotD, and then House of the Dragon S3 right after that so it's technically gonna be two years but it won't feel that way because we'll have Knight of the Seven Kingdoms in between.
It takes place 70 years after the events of HotD
Ulf ain’t got no home training. This the queens table not the bar damn
No he doesn't, but he was scared enough when Aegon came into the bar remember? So I think maybe his "easiness" is because he doesn't really see Rhaenyra as a Queen?
That’s the point. He doesn’t have any home training. But he can learn.
@@KCohere33 shiiit he better hurry up you heard what Jace said lol
@@Stephie_L OMFG You are so right... Damn I never saw it that way... He doesn't see her as an Authority figure!
@@Stephie_LNo it’s bc he know Rhaenyra needs him and won’t kill him. He didn’t have that confidence and safety with Aegon, to Aegon he was just a useless commoner
I agree that season 1 was better. Almost every episode ended with an "oh sh*t moment & the way they built the tension was genius.
'House of the Dragon' to End With Season 4, Season 3 to Begin Production in Early 2025.
Daemon was War Criminal BAE the whole time
I can't believe the show tried to paint Alicent in a good light for selling out the son she forced on the throne against his will. "History will paint you a villain", how is what she did not villainy? Like it doesn't even end the war.
Aemond is right, not using their second largest dragon to their advantage is pure stupidity. The only reason Alicent didn’t side with him is because she was already planning on betraying him and his brothers, including her own brother and Cole. Heleana does know how to ride her dragon, how do you think she bonded with it.
I’m glad I saw the show runner’s panel at SDCC online the day before where he said they had exhausted the budget to film the already aired dragon battles this season. So there would be nothing in the finale. 😐 Expectations adjusted.
Its been confirmed theres 2 seasons of 8 episodes each left, and the first episode of season 3 is the battle of the gullet which will be epic. At least 3 if not 4 battles next season and the same for the final season 4. Also Rhaenyra will think Alicent has lied because Alicent doesnxknow that lary has sneaked Aegon out of kings landing, which Rhaenyra will take end of episode 1 or in episode 2. Those things have been confirmed by the show runners. And they have a bigger budget for next season which is great because will make those battles look excellent like they did with episode 4 this season at rooks rest. It will be out in 2026 between spring to end of Autumn. Luckily in 2025 theres another game of thrones spinoff based on another book called The hedge knight and the show is called knight of the seven kingdoms based about 50-70 years after house of the dragon but still over 120+ years before Game of thrones. Soz for long message but was important information. Thanks.
Good riddance for Alicent. How dare she sell out her son who she forced on the throne so she can peace out of the war.
I was expecting a liiiitle bit more from this episode, that whole section of the Lannister guy was unnecessary, shouldn't have been in the finale at least. I still liked the episode tho. Damon opening his 3rd eye and bending the knee to Rhaenyra was everything, that conversation of Rhaenicent was all I ever needed, oh and Ulf needs to die asap I cannot stand him, he got one of the greatest dragons but I hate him lol
Because this wasn't the finale lol They had to cut off the last two episodes & add them to next season due to the strike & WB.
@@sproductionsinc I know that... but this episode ended up being the finale, it is what it is
The Lannister part was just to add some humor which imo is very necessary when there is so much heaviness in the rest of the episode.
Ulf would not have survived dinner and Alicent would not have made it out alive! Nope I need them heads!
You’d have him beheaded just because he never learned courtly manners in the small folk taverns?
These dragon seeds are a problem. I hate it.
For those wondering why this season has less action than expected. HBO merged with WB and needed cash for the merger, so they cut the budget of every single one of their projects. Originally, the season was supposed to have 10 episodes. A month before filming, after 8 months of writing, HBO told them to cut episodes. Three months later, the writers' strike began, and since the showrunners of HOTD are American, they couldn't reorganize the scripts to fit the new budget.
As a result, events initially planned for season 2, including a major battle, were pushed to season 3. They had to stretch out some episodes because they couldn't fully rewrite the scripts. This is why the pacing changes noticeably after episode 4 and why the season is only 8 episodes. Although they claim it was for story reasons, HBO wouldn't allow them to publicly blame the studio.
It's unfortunate, but I believe they did the best with the cards they were dealt. HBO really shot themselves in the foot with this one.
I hate that they deleted the scene of Cregan Stark leading the march of the starks army. I wanted to see Cregan Stark but they deleted that scene.
Well they probably don't want to anger book readers much more than they already is with the changes. In the book Cregan Stark isn't part of the winter wolves army, he come much more later with his main army in the "war".

Aegon is clearly the best character of the season. The actor did a great job👍
the actor did an amazing job, yes. But Aegon is not the best character.
@@cristinaolmos8403He is the most interesting character. He won every S2 character pole on house of the dragon red_dit.
fantastic acting on his end but he’s not the best character.
@@cristinaolmos8403Tell me who has a better arc this season than Aegon?
@@idkimjustafanSo who? Rhaenyra who was boring af or maybe Jace who did nothing more than mewing the entire season?
Guys out of context but what’s happening to lovely runner😭missing the reactions
we posted a pinned comment on the ep2 reaction and made a post on our community page explaining
If daemon don’t go ahead and call the ghost busters already lol
I hate the way they did Rhaena. This storyline was taken from anther character. I hate it.
Why add a completely new character when they have Rhaena not doing anything? Plus, they established already how much she wants a dragon of her own.
This wasn't supposed to be the finale.
"It was supposed to be a 10 episode season. A month before filming, after 8 months of writing, HBO told them to cut episodes. Then the writer's strike started , so the writers couldn't work during filming to reorganize things.
So, yeah, HBO shot themselves in a foot with people who are bothered by this aspect of the season.
Knight of the seven kingdoms next year. Season 3 2026.
Jace got to chill out. You can’t be antagonizing the new dragon riders they gonna fuck around and flip sides
Everyone's speculating on what next season has in store, just as they did at the wnd of the last.
I speculate the writers will do just as they did these last two season. Dic-tease us along. Promise, show a little, demand the pull out and, leave us feeling short change and hoping for the payoff the following season.
They don't have to deliver. Fan will make excuses and justifications for them. Fans down want to admit, they are suckers.
Season was cut because of funding and writers strike
Red flags 🚩🚩 started happening when Miguel Sapochnik left the team because HBO refused to give his wife producer credits. He’s still an executive producer but he no longer directs the episodes as he was the main showrunner prior to Ryan Condal taking over. Then HBO decided to cost cut and it was reported that S2 would only get 8 episodes. Then both a writers strike and actors guild strike happened last year. S2 was already doomed from the start.
Now in terms of plot from the season, it started happening by Episode 3 The Burning Mill. This is the episode when Daemon started to get his visions and then finishes off with Rhaenyra needing to sneak into KL as a septa just to have a convo with her former bestie because Daemon left town. The season did start off solid from the first two episodes. Then a decline in Ep. 3 before a series peak with Ep. 4. Then another decline from 3 of the last 4 episodes as Ep. 5, 6, and 8 meandered and went nowhere.
Rewatching The Queen Who Ever Was (a poor title, btw), it’s not that awful. But the fact it was going to be the season finale, it had tons of expectations to deliver and viewers wants spectacle and fireworks knowing we need to wait another 2 years for the next season. Not saying it was a great episode. It wasn’t. Daemon seeing the White Walkers or saying winter is coming in High Valyrian only annoyed viewers because it reminded us on how badly Game of Thrones ended.
The worst scene was the Alicent selling out her two eldest boys. Um, why the change of heart after only 5 episodes later? Didn’t she accidentally start a war from misinterpreting what Viserys said? She’s a bad mother, a hypocrite, traitor, and she’s dead weight. This scene reached Game of Thrones S8 stupidity.
Had it just been an Episode 8 of a 10-episode season, it wouldn’t be looked upon as that awful with the exception of that White Walkers callback and Alicent appearing at Rhaenyra’s doorstep I just mentioned. I think Ep. 8 is about par to Ep. 3, 5, and 6. Nothing really happened. It’s about a 6 or 7 out of 10 but since it’s a finale with higher expectations, people will grade it a 5 or lower.
Season 2 was a step back from Season 1. While we did get some great episodes specifically 2x4 The Red Dragon and the Gold, great acting in 2x2 Rhaenyra the Cruel, and more dragon fun in 2x7 The Red Sowing, half of it sorta meandered and went nowhere. Character development didn’t improve with the exception of Aegon and giving Helaena more to do. Simon Strong ended up the most likable new character over Hugh, Ulf, Alys, and Jeyne, but it mostly comes from his reactions than anything he said.
I wanted more out of the Velaryons and got nothing. We saw Corlys mostly stand next to a ship having a conversation with his wife, one of his bastard sons, or Rhaenyra. Similar to Daemon, he too was stuck being filmed in one location. I wanted more out of Baela and Rhaena and got nothing. And Jace is supposed to be the Robb Stark of this series but I still didn’t get anything out of him that would make me feel emotionally attached to him. He mostly comes off as a whiner.
Why did we need 6 episodes of DaemonVision? Yes, he’s coping like Wanda did in WandaVision. Daemon did lose his only brother he truly loved. And yes, maybe there is a payoff to this after he dies next to Aemond. Don’t blame me because Helaena is spoiling everything. But why so many episodes only to come to the same conclusion? Daemon already bent the knee to Rhaenyra in 1x10 The Black Queen! We didn’t need to rethread this story again for an entire season!
Now let’s get to Alicent…. 🤦🏻 First off, Olivia Cooke is a fantastic actress. One of the best in the cast. Matt Smith and Olivia are two of the top three in billing. All we got out from Daemon in S2 is tripping balls. Having a bad mushroom/acid trip in a haunted castle. All we got out of Alicent is her having sex, dissing Aegon again that led him to getting drunk and getting charcoaled by his brother. And if Alicent wasn’t having sex or being useless, she’s taking a bath or dipping in a pond or having awkward scenes with Rhaenyra. And the show version of Alicent and Criston should get as much blame for Jaehaerys’ death as Daemon. If they weren’t screwing around, someone would’ve protected Helaena’s door.
Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke could’ve been used sparingly this season perhaps appearing in only 4 or 5 episodes but the writers pushed them to do nonsensical things to pad the runtime of these hour-long episodes and to give Daemon and Alicent something to do. Turn Daemon into a loser “husbuncle” to Rhaenrya and deadbeat father because he’s still thirsting for the throne when he’s damn near 50 and have people like Alys Rivers and Oliver Tully dunk on him when he is supposed to be the most dangerous man in all of Westeros during this time.
Aemond is supposed to fear his uncle. Daemon is not supposed to fear his nephew. Is Daemon becoming Jake Skywalker from The Last Jedi? Make Alicent into the shittiest character next to Criston Cole and make her a hypocrite, turncloak, and possible kinslayer? She’s now a worse mother than Cersei! She lost her grandson and she’s willing to sell out two of her sons? And she’s utterly USELESS at this time. As unlikable as Criston is, he can fight. While Alicent can’t even protect all her children from a war she “accidentally” started! It’s either sex or baths from her to cleanse her impurities if she isn’t berating Aegon or pushing him to a throne he never wanted!
Whichever side you’re on whether Team Black or Team Green, or if you’re not on either side and think HOT D is mostly rich white people’s problems and you think they’re all bad (except Helaena and the dragons), we all got to admit the character development from both sides was lacking. I rewatched S1 prior to S2 airing and there’s a noticeable difference in quality. S1’s worst episode might be 1x6 The Princess and the Queen thanks to some rushed plot points and the time jump, but even that is better than half of Season 2. And 1x6 was written by Sara Hess but directed by Miguel Sapochnik.
Sara Hess: White man bad! Make woman look good and heroic! Daemon is no Paul Rudd and is a terrible person! Down with the patriarchy! Down with toxic white man masculinity! And let’s add a lesbian kiss scene with Rhaenyra and Mysaria because I’m a lesbian!
Nice! We got another Leslye-bian Headland from The Acolyte over here. An activist. Not a writer and is pretending she read the books. Losing Miguel Sapochnik was a big deal. He directed some of the best episodes from Game of Thrones. Ryan Condom and Sara Mess will ruin it with their fanfic nonsense.
Again, if we didn’t get this ridiculous scene where Alicent is selling out her sons and Ep. 8 didn’t have the burden being the finale with higher expectations, it’s not that terrible. I even enjoyed the Abigail Thorn scenes when “they” joked about eating human flesh and asking Tyland to have children with “them”. Awkward pause from Tyland got me laughing 😂 as he looked obviously confused before Sharako mentioned about “their” wives. Do you remember from the early 90s the “It’s Pat” skits from SNL? People couldn’t figure out Pat’s gender. That’s what Tyland experienced when meeting Sharako.
Oh well, let’s hope S3 is the “action” season. S2 is the “filler” season. S1 was the “setup” season. The Battle at Rook’s Rest was still great though even with some changes to it and that’s probably where most of the S2 budget went to. S3 should start with the Battle of the Gullet. The craziest naval fight we may ever see. As disappointing as S2 is, you know damn well you’re still tuning in for S3 in 2026 the moment you can see it. Let’s just look at S2 as a mulligan thanks to some cost cutting decisions and strikes. The Age of Ultron of the four Avengers movies. Not truly awful. A mixed bag with a few merits.
Marvel, Star Wars, and ThroneVerse, the more they all want to expand their deep lore with so many different projects coming from different creators with varying visions to their lore, the more diluted the lore becomes. GRRM said they have 7 different projects in the works. It’s going to grow stale like what happened to MCU and SW. GRRM is already 75. His lore will get more diluted after he dies because it’s no longer coming from him but from several hack writers. Look at Disney Star Wars. It’s become a trash brand and George Lucas isn’t even dead yet. Tolkien will be rolling in his grave again when The Rings of Power S2 comes out.
Be excited for House of the Dragon Season 3 and 4, but don’t get too excited knowing there’s going to be changes we all have to live with. Look at HOT D Season 2 this way: Still better than most MCU and Star Wars series on Disney+. Even at it’s worst, HOT D S2 remains better than The Mandalorian S3, Ahsoka, The Acolyte, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Secret Invasion, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Echo…
Let’s wait 10 more months for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. To some who only want to see dragons from these type of medieval fantasy shows, it may not be appealing to them. But the Dunk & Egg series with only 6 episodes should keep Burlington Bar busy with their awesome reactions in Chicago next year. A Song of Ice and Fire is truly headed to where MCU and Star Wars already are. Another IP trap filled with diluted quality. Star Wars no longer excites their fans. Just another visit to McDonald’s. Luster wore off years ago. May happen again to all these Game of Thrones spin-offs.
HOT D 2x8 The Finale That Never Was
It was never supposed to be the finale. It’s actually decent as a random episode but it’s terrible as a season finale.
