- While doing a job for a Client, I noticed an overgrown yard in front of a house that was on the same street after I finished the job I decided to go in and ring the doorbell to see if the Homeowner needed help. The door was opened to me by an elderly man with a cane, then I asked if I could help him in the yard?
The owner of the house told me that he can't do this kind of work himself and he used to have his grandson help him, but for three months now he can't get him to help because he's always busy and he was planning to hire a gardener for the job! He asked me how much it would cost him, to which I replied that I would do the job for free.
The next day I went back and got to work.
I proceeded to remove the weeds from the sidewalk, then cleaned the parking lot near the garage of moss using the nylon brush attachment on the trimmer, but before that I had to collect the leaves. I continued working with the trimmer and went to the backyard, among the thick and tall grass, everything was covered with old firewood and boards, the homeowner told me that I could just mow the area, as he still hoped that his grandson would come and remove all the firewood, but I realized that this would not work, as the firewood was everywhere and also obviously not one year old, so I decided to put them closer to the fence in one pile. It took me about an hour to collect all the firewood, then I went to the front yard and uprooted the dried boxwood bush and took a break, then I started mowing the front yard lawn, first I did it without the grass catcher, just shredded the grass, then collected it in my green bags and then I mowed it again with the grass catcher, in the back yard I just shredded it with the lawnmower and collected it in the bags, but I didn't mow it again.
I then started trimming the shrubbery in front of the house and the hedge, I also had to work hard to trim the laurel tree growing near the house as it was very tall, then I removed the broken wooden section of the fence as it was rotten and already broken. To finish the job, I cleared the garden path where the firewood used to lie.
I wanted to trim the bushes all around the yard, but the owner preferred to leave it as is because he wanted privacy.
The whole job took me 8 hours and a full trailer.
Even though I said I would do it for free, the owner still gave me money and insisted I take it.
Three days after this job, I found a tick on my leg and immediately remembered that I didn't get vaccinated this year, so I'll be making an appointment for a shot next week!😅

I'm so glad that I live in an apt. That I don't have to deal with cutting the grass. And I like cutting grass but my body won't let me lol. You did a beautiful job.

My sister is 71 and I'm 78. She claims it takes her twice as long to do half as much. I'm not telling her that when she gets my age, the job will only look a quarter as good as it used to look.

I’d love to see the look on the grandson’s face when he sees what one kind stranger was able to do for his grandfather, when he couldn’t take the time to do it himself!
When the grandson gets old and unable to do numerous chores, I hope he remembers his Grandfather asking for help.
I thank God for my grandson and granddaughter they have both gone out of their way to help me. My grandson did my mowing until he got a job 3 hours away. Still comes to see if I need anything when he comes home every other month. My granddaughter is at my house at least once a week when she's not away at school, when she is she comes over when she comes home for a weekend or holiday. But my daughter and son in law check in all the time. I'm blessed.
How does so much scrap wood find its way all over the place?
it's NOT just time ................. how much of that equipment does grandson have?
@@raymondo162 I'm sure like most people he has a lawn mower at the very least. If he didn't have equipment he might be able to borrow some, That's what we do to help my mother in law who has a very plant dense yard (avid gardener when she was younger) and is no longer able to deal with it well in her old age. Any equipment we dont have, we just ask around with friends and generally someone has what we need.
Proof that sometimes a gardener with 100k subscriber can be more reliable than a grandson that is 'too busy'. The old gentleman must be very happy with the way his lawn and garden looks now.

@@luciaperdue5687I can say from a granddaughters point of view who helps my nanny and grandad often… plus I’m a single parent, I’ve cut their lawn this year two months ago. It’s this long again. I was taking them 3 times a week to their appointments. But I had to stop doing it is as much and can only do it once every two weeks as I became physically exhausted from working my own job, raising a child with no help, doing my own house work, my own projects and trying to have a life. I’ve had to cut back on the support I give… but also I have four siblings and a lot was on my shoulders to do everything.. someone else had to step up too especially when I’m the only one who was a single child… what I’m trying to say is… maybe the grandson is already helping his grandfather in other ways.. like appointments or shopping like we do… maybe he also has his own commitments and children and job that he needs to not neglect and has to put as a priority! Maybe there’s a bigger picture before we shame his grandson. That’s all I’m saying! Don’t shame someone when you don’t know their lives or what other hell he may be giving his grandfather which no one is aware off! Maybe his grandson is already exhausted with all the other stuff and these comments will make him feel like more crap knowing he already doesn’t have the time or energy to do the garden aswell as everything else on top of his already other priorities. What if the grandson has no one that supports him and he is already doing way more then he can handle and is losing sleep and struggling ??

Yes it is, sometimes I use a second camera for close-up shots when I work as a weedeater, as I used to break the safety glass with stones, so I have a second camera for that purpose!

Even though the old man didnt want some bushes trimmed for privacy, you can still trim bushes that are out of control abit back and still keep the privacy.
When a person lets their garden get so totally out of control, no garden service can come in and wuote a cgeap price or even dream of getting a free service.

This is such a disturbing statement- he works a fulltime job, in Germany you can only do that kind of noisy work on Monday through Saturday. So granted grandson only works until Friday it leaves him with 1 day out of the week - happens to be the same day he does all his personal stuff coz on Sunday also all shops and everything is closed. In addition, grandson does not have the experience a Pro like this guy have nore does he have access to all that equipment. So get a grip. Without any of this the grandson would require weeks on end every weekend to achieve this result.
At least the grandson could have straightened out that woodpile.

я думаю что просто камин, в Германии у многих стоит камин а топят дома в основном газом или пелетом! Ст газоном проблем не будет, он высох так как трава была большое но сейчас у нас снова дожди, через неделю все будет зеленым!

This was a very challenging project that no one else would have taken on. All that wood in the tall grass was a nightmare! Such a fantastic turnaround. The property looked abandoned until you came and renewed it all. I love watching you trim hedges and shrubs. You are outstanding! I always hope an owner like this will be able to afford to hire you to maintain it. I hope you have not suffered from the tick.
