    The decision to cut into the art on the new version seems bizarre. I have the indie deck and love the thinner, slippy card stock. I prefer the backs on the new version and like the charcoal, but that decision to crop the art at the bottom for extra title space is just madness to me.

      Yes! I was so looking forward to buying a copy but that's a deal breaker for me ☹️

      @TheTruthinStory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I feel they could probably could have shrunk the art just a bit to make the title straight on the bottom and not dip in, most of the time it didn't matter but you can really see the issue on the Magician!

    The original is on eBay for around $90, just ordered Hay House on Amazon. Love this look of the deck.

    They could have made it borderless and the titles on the image itself (like queen of the moon oracle) would have saved the cropping

    • @Tarotjackpot

      I love the borders. Love them I think it makes the image pop

  • @aquamarine18

    Hmm. I feel very mixed about these changes! I really, really don't like the cropped images but I think I like the mass market borders better being (at least on camera) less textured / more flat looking.

    • @TheTruthinStory

      I do like the mass market borders, they are definitely flat and not textured!

    I’m so torn between these two decks. I hate that the hay house one cuts off the artwork! I’m not sure if I should spend $$$ for a second hand deck of the indie version or just settle for the hay house one. I have small hands, so maybe the indie version would be best? Sigh…hard to decide

    • @TheTruthinStory
      @TheTruthinStory  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do wish that the artwork hadn't been cut off so that people wouldn't have to struggle between the two as you found, I haven't found it an issue for me but that might be because I've trimmed the whole thing down :/

  • @ultravioletpisces3666

    I like the turquoise better but that's the one that looks like it would be easier to trim.

    Where can one get the "teal" colored "Indie version" of this deck featured here???

      My guess is that once she sold it to Hay House she is no longer selling the indie version?

    • @LadyHavana74

      @@TheTruthinStory Shame. I personally think the Indie version (Teal) (the one with the Bat High Priestess, yes?) is the very best version of this deck since the Hay House version (the one with the owl, right?) I really think she shouldn't have strayed from this original deck and went with a company that wouldn't modify it so much!!! There's plenty of publishing companies out there that might not have altered the her teal deck (Indie version). I just feel this was her very personal best deck and she shouldn't have went with a company that would alter it so much!!! 😭💔💯

      @@TheTruthinStory BTW, I've only come across this version of this deck I love, *once* and it was $60 plus shipping. Apparently she only made a certain amount of the decks and you can't get this Indie deck new anymore but you can get the Hay House version new and there were many options for it, many different places you can get it for about an average of $30!

    I wondered about this deck after I bought it then finding out their was another exact to it. I'm not understanding the difference in both decks just the colors are different but exactly the same tho. The front cover really deceived me wasn't thinking she'd do the same thing. Sry but to much similarities for me to have both, seems like it was just preference with card stock. The new ones are huge thick & Matt, love the Matt style...

    • @ghettocountry8678
      @ghettocountry8678 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's to much to exact, just a scam for collectors...I paid 30.00 at bam but love that I did, don't like the older ones since you showed us. Easier to shuffle for me with the Matt card stock..

    I have the Urban Crow Oracle and expansion pack but didn't jump on the Indie version of this and I much prefer the thinner card stock but think Hay House did a good job overall. I am going to buy the mass market version of the Urban Crow Oracle just for the box so I can keep both sets of the cards in it as having them currently in a box and a bag is a little annoying for me. Thank you for a great comparison Kelly.

    Just an observation but try the "Marvy Uchida" trimmer/cutter (It's a little itty-bitty trimmer/cutter that works perfect wonders with decks! it would give you *rounded* edges as opposed to sharp and possibly uneven edges...

      @@TheTruthinStory Hey Ms Kelly, that trimmer that you used looks the Marvy Uchida "Trimming Buddy", what's the name of your trimmer you used in this video and where did you get it? Yours looked so suave, the way you trimmed with it but with mine, the Marvy Uchida trimmer, it's a royal b**** to trim with, after a little while your hand (palm) starts to hurt! That's the only thing I don't like about it but it makes *REALLY* nice-looking cards afterwards! You just have to pace your hand accordingly... I don't know what my trimmer's name is, I'll see if I can find it, it just says "Marvy Uchida" on it and I've had it forever so I don't even know its name but I'm gonna Google it and see if I can learn its identity other than just "Marvy Uchida"...

    I am so glad I watched your video first! TY for doing a comparison.
    I nearly bought the MM deck but I don't like the way they've done the titles, esp the fact of how it cuts into the artwork....totally unecessary so a deal breaker for me.
    Don't mind the grey but absolutely love the blue indie colouring!

    I have to say that I like the style of the new Deck better. That's just my opinion. I just reviews it as well and the cards are thick! I have larger hands and about couldn't shuffle them at first..lol

  • @ultravioletpisces3666
    @ultravioletpisces3666 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    On the other hand, if you are trimming it to make it an animal deck rather than a tarot deck, I agree it makes sense to trim the thicker one because 1) it has more of an oracle card stock and 2) since the animal is the focus, it doesn't matter so much if the bits and bobs on the bottom get cut off, whereas you want to be able to see them in the tarot deck (imo).
    I'm feeling like... the mass market deck as a tarot deck isn't quite as good as the indie version. I don't love the changes.

    • @TheTruthinStory
      @TheTruthinStory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it is rare that the Mass Market will be as good as the Indie (there are exceptions) but for the most part that is why we buy Indie versions, I don't mind the changes but that's probably because it was always my intention to trim this one down so I'm not invested in the borders and such!
