Wow. Glad you made it down safe. I think chip n tar or concrete on the steep parts is the only thing I can think of. Gravel isn’t much better than mud unless it’s really packed.

Great job getting back down safely. Excellent idea with the pulley and rope getting the trailer and tractors down. The video showed the steepness much better coming down. I got a good sense of the angles. Going wide so you can straight shot the rest wasn't a bad idea either. I bet they were wore out hand guiding the trailer down. I have nothing for you on making it better. Those steep spots even the cattle panel I don't know would help that much. Gravel would just be like marbles under the tires I would fear. It would be way too much work to try to stair-step it somehow. PS, keep an eye on the downward side of the cattle panel on the bottom slope. The hitch on the 111 caught it on the corner 30:38 and broke a wire causing a poky point. Hate for that to be a tire popper. 👍 Excellent Series!

@@MightyRaze thank you! You’re right and I don’t have much either in the way of fixing it for cheap. It’s gonna be a matter of getting the big tractor up there and physically moving dirt. Or creating a new trail that runs more parallel with the slope. Besides that fully concreting or asphalting the main problem areas.
I did see the trailer hitch snag the panel and bent the broken wire down right away. Thank you again!

First off great video & adventure. Here's my ideas & point of view.
    1. Spend little to no money on the trail building. Use locally available free materials. You have a creek with rock & gravel for those potential uses. You have your kabota to move building materials to readily available locations on the mountain.
    2. Maybe this winter drive one of those tractor up there to see if you can navigate a easier bypass around those problems area by simply driving through the woods wherever you can. Keep in mind you just need a tractor trail not necessarily a road.
    3. Look into mountain biking trail building video's for alot of trail building tricks. Erosion control, drainage, benching, rock armor, they are basically building what you are.
    4. Letting the mower's & trailer down with the rope & pulley was a good idea. After watching I think leaving the trailer hooked to a tractor & then use the rope to let both down backwards so the tractor could assist with gears, brakes & steering why'll the rope helps control everything.
    5. Trailer brakes. Old gokart style tire paddle type. Build the rotating cross shaft with tire paddles first under the trailer. Then build a sliding hitch with 6-8 inches of travel. Connect it the paddle brakes with adjustable linkage. Just like a gokart but a sliding hitch rather than a foot pedal. This way the trailer applies it's own brakes when its trying to push the tractor. Drill a hole through the sliding hitch for a lockout pin.
Lastly time & pressure saves money & labor. Pre planning & staging of anything with help things be easier when it comes time to do it. Hopefully this food for thought will help

@@DustyLaman-tz7yr thank you! I appreciate your time, detailed explanations and advice! Many of those solutions you suggested I’ve definitely thought of too! I’ve already started spreading the rock from the creek on the trail, it can be seen on the first 200 feet at the bottom. We are definitely going to look into making alternate paths through the woods, more parallel with the slope and intercept the existing trail somewhere down past the steep switchback. I was going to tie the rope to the trailer and let the whole thing down with a tractor attached, but didn’t see a great place on the trailer to tie off on. Also I eventually want to fabricate an existing trailer with a go kart axle and disc brake, with a remote lever up to the tractor. Or build a lighter weight, tube chassis trailer with a brake.
Getting the Kubota up is viable and needs to happen, it is 4 wheel drive and quite capable. But it’s also scary as heck 😅 being on it at some of those angles. I’ve had it at the top where I was spreading creek rock and it’s 23- 25 degrees there.
I’ve searched how to improve trails on line to see what comes up, funny you mentioned mountain bike trails because that’s what pops up!
We’ve definitely got our work cut out getting this trail to come together. This was the first time I’ve ever put any effort into it since we moved here. That’s why it was so overgrown and neglected. There are tons of opportunities up there to blaze new trails, it’s really exciting.
Once again thank you for your ideas and advice. It’s nice to have input from other people and it’s obvious you know a thing or two about going about things. Besides, that’s one of the many reasons we make these videos! Thanks again!

I didn’t know what to fish for or what baits to use. I went with plastic worms like I used to fish for bass back in the day. I tried bread and bobbers for the boys. No luck with any of that. We were also fishing from the bank. But to answer your first question, I don’t really care to fish anymore but I know the boys do.
