He was of noble family and fought in the Hundred years war with Joan of Arc, whom he greatly admired,.but after her death Gilles went completely mad and started abducting children and doing the worst things to them.
Caster started killing people in his past after Jeanne (Joan of Arc) died and the reasoning was quite fascinating, though still horrid. Its technically not rly a spoiler but I'll probably mention later when you guys learn more about his theological perspective

every war has usually a different set of servants, but it mostly depends on what artifact is used as a catalyst for the summon. so in the other fate series there are mostly different servants, but most of the time saber(artoria) appears or someone who looks similar to her like as example nero claudius in the fate/extra universe, because those are the mascots/poster girls of the franchise.

You see, he got hit in the head with a mace once and was out cold for a very dangerous amount of time. Its unlikley, since he was briliant even after that, but he also made some very... questionable decisions, and some historians wonder if the blow to the head may have affected him.
