It’s because people are incapable of understanding that just because they like something doesn’t it make it well written. Case and point: The Last Jedi WandaVision The Mandalorian The Falcon and the Woke Soldier
100% agree. Karli was a terrible villain and just really annoying. Making Walker the main villain by having his buddy killed off earlier would've been a way better story. Bucky and Zemo were great though.
I mean we probably would still get john walker as the main villian in some mcu movie/show, since at the end he becomes the "USAgent" which in the comics is captain america's archenemy...
@@dardasaba7971 Which is such a shame as John Walker did nothing wrong and in fact is the hero of the story compared to literally every other character present.
sam also did great k? Y'all are just always looking at bucky cuz y'all are simps when it comes to him but what about falcon!?? People be hating on him cuz he is captain America now, but whyy?? He is doing what he was told to do!
This show genuinely would’ve been better if it had Sam telling Walker “I don’t wanneh. You are muh Captain America” and then stabbing him in the heart.
Doesn't help when she's introduced killing innocents almost from the very start, and her goals are very ill-defined, other than trying to get back to the "One World" state of anarchy where governments were barely functioning after the snap. It's like saying "COVID brought us all of the world together", so I want to go back to a pre-vaccine world where we're all suffering together.
@@peacekeeperbabe How I understood it: Imagine there's a power outage during a fierce winter storm. Neighbors help each other out, give some food to those who were caught without, check on the single elderly, etc Karli wants to go back to this desperate era where everyone was relying on each other just to survive.
Well... he should make a tutorial of "how to be one of the most hated characters in the mcu without saying a word" tho. Maybe not a villain, but almost everyone hates his guts since his very first scene
What annoys me is how the characters keep changing their morals about killing. Sam kills several npcs in the pilot without hesitation, but later completely opposes killing, even when the flagsmashers are trying to kill him. Then you have Karli who kills civilians because they're obstacles and against her, but hesitates against Sam and feels bad for Lamar's death because 'they're not part of her fight' even though they're the ones actively fighting her. The writers should have made up their minds, you either make her merciless or constrained, you can't have your cake and eat it.
...for a military solider; Sam response 2 killing was erratic. As was Karli; but she has age/unclear tactics on her side. Sam does not have that reasoning. Despised that fellow Flagmashers had NO vocal opinion on how 2 achieve their objective.
Because it's in the heat of the moment where the enemy is actively trying to kill him from multiple angles. Karli never saw Sam or Lamar as enemy's compared to the GRC, as she saw government officials who abuse their power, step on those beneath them, and the cause of her mother's death.
Falcon’s happy ending: helps his sister outta poverty, gets to be the new Cap, is seen as a hero Bucky’s ending: “hi...I killed your son...see you never”
Personally, I quite liked that ending. Not every ending needs to be happy. It's great that Sam finally got to embrace the legacy of Captain America. It's also great that Bucky lost a friend over his past actions, even if he wasn't in control of those actions. Like, it's sad, yes. Heartbreaking even. But I think it's still great storytelling.
For me, the whole Flag smashers arc was frustating. Their goals were too vague. If more focus had been put on John Walker and his clash with Bucky and Sam, it would have helped in solidifying his character.
Their goals were clear: prevent the GRC relocating people who have changed countries after the blip and thus no nationality nor place to live anymore, and give them shelter, food and medecine: basically basics rights. But the writers made them look so boring, annoying and unlikable, and even flat out crazies by making them kill random people for random reasons all of a sudden.
@@Spider-Too-Too the plot we edited a lot because it revolved around the flagsmashers distributing a virus to kill half the population... it’s actually sick that marvel tried to make us sympathize with a thanos who actually enjoyed killing... they edited it out because it paralleled the real life pandemic... that’s why there’s repeating lines:
He was disgusting. Also Sam's sister was annoying and moronic. Sam was dead for 5 years. Boat made no sense. Unrelatable. Bucky didn't get enough screen time. Only first episode was decent rest complete garbage.
The worst part about Sam's side story is that it is complete bs. ALL of those problems that his family had with money could be resolved with a single call to Pepper Potts.
Ehh, I think the point they're making though is that there isn't really any kind of safety net for Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I think the implication is that the Avengers are essentially disbanded at this point. How do we know that Pepper Potts could help him out financially? At this point in the larger MCU narrative, we don't really know anything about most of the other former Avengers and what they're up to. And if I recall, Sam was never particularly close with Pepper. He sided with Cap during Civil War, so he and Tony probably weren't close either.
The reason the plot wasn’t the best is because it was altered. Not many people know this so I’m here to tell you that. The plot with Karli and the flag smashers were supposed to revolve around a virus/pandemic, you will see the reference in episode two when Bucky is on the truck. Those episodes were filmed before COVID-19 even came about. They stopped production halfway and were forced to go a different narrative halfway through because they didn’t want to film about a virus pandemic. They did what they could with the flag smashers plot but the truth is the pandemic fucked it all up. In regards to character building which stayed pretty much the same, Bucky’s story for example, was fantastic. I understand the criticism but people should also read into why it didn’t make a lot of sense. Unfortunately no one cares enough to do things like that.
@@Lovemetender757 Bucky's progression was non-sensical He was traumatised, then went on an adventure with Sam, and came back non-traumatised and ready to move on. Biggest waste of potential of any MCU character. They threw away all the potential for a story about how he got rid of the Winter Soldier control in a 1min flashback.
@@Shome2049 It's not even about politics but the severe unbelievability of it all. Like the whole black super soldier thing. He wasn't 'erased' because he was black. That was his view, but it makes no sense. In the museum we see Steve Roger's crew...and guess what... black guy in there. SHOCK, he wasn't erased...weird? The reality is more that the government tried serum experiments and they caused a bunch of them to die. That'd be a huge scandal and crime. So they buried the whole thing to avoid responsibility (not uncommon for any government... even Wakanda did that). Since he was the only one that survived, they tried to experiment on him to see how the serum worked. They wanted to do the same thing with Steve Rogers! ("you're going to Alamogordo, you're a science experiment") They weren't trying to replace Captain America at the time and do you really think Peggy Carter or Howard Stark would allow ANYONE to be Captain America but Steve Rogers? ...This show is so....SO damn frustrating because it assumes everyone's an absolute idiot.
@@Shome2049 Yea I think the story should have been how Walker was handed the role while Sam should be Cap because he has the personality for it. But instead introduced too many racism stuff so the message was muddled(esp. since Walker is white)
I'm a marvel fan and I thought this show and the final episode of wandavision could of been so much more. Loki looks like it will be as imaginative as wandavision and as action packed as TFaTWS.
I'm glad to hear somebody willing to fairly critique this show. It's got plenty of issues, and it's nice to hear somebody talk about reasonably instead of just praising it.
It looks like a lot of the potential plot lines were considered by the show runners and then left hanging. I wonder how much the scripts for shows like this change from the initial version to the filmed version. I feel like a lot of the more dramatic and potentially controversial plot lines get watered down in favor of being more marketable to the largest audience possible.
I think John's redemption in the finale was in line with his character even if it was a little sudden. He was never all bad, and I think turning him into a straight villain would move him out of that interesting grey area that the character is constantly in.
He was never even a little bad. The only "shaky" thing he does is kill a super-terrorist after they killed his best friend, that hardly qualify as a "bad" in my book. Everything he does apart from that is the good decision (morally) He saves Bucky and Sam's life, and THEY'RE the ones being antagonistic and petulent children over the shield. When Sam and Bucky confront him after he killed the terrorist, what were his first words ? "You guys should see a doctor, you seem hurt" John Walkder was never even close to being a bad guy, he's the true hero of the story and the one most deserving of the Captain America title (especially after the last episode where he clearly shows selflessness and helps civilians instead of pursuing his targets. When does sam do something remotely that selfless in the show that makes him more of a Captain America than John ? This show destroyed Sam, I would have been fine with hime being Captain America BEFORE I had seen it, based on Winter Soldier, Civil War and Infinity War. But after FATWS, hell no... Sam is dumb, naive, childish and morally dubious throughout the whole show. Bucky and Sam literally LAUGH when he's being attacked by the Doramilaje after those crazy ladies threw a spear at his neck. For all they know, they intend to kill him (they already tried with the spear throw after all) The two protagonists are horrible people in this show, but for some weird reason, people tell you John is the bad guy. It's insane how people got manipulated by music and the main characters' reaction to John instead of looking at what he actually said and did in the show. It's fascinating... and kind of depressing
@@haagenneldeberg6787 I do agree his redemption was rushed. I like the idea of him being redeemed, but I think he should've had a bit more focus in the finale.
@@arenkai I agree, love you 3000. The biggest joke I hear people saying is 'John walkers ReDeMpTiOn arc' wtf?! He never did anything wrong according to me and any sane person. Why does he need to redeem himself?
Turning him into a villain would be something he wouldn’t do unless it’s something like fighting against the government or something for like a cause but he wouldn’t be hurting innocent people
I absolutely loved the show, but I value your criticism and I agree that it had some issues. Ironically, my favorite episode was just domestic Bucky and Sam fixing the boat 😂 Zemo was definitely the best part of the show!
I absolutely hated the show, but I value your compliments and I agree it had some great moments. Ironically, my favorite moment was John Walker saving the senators. Zemo was definitely the best part of the show!
and it didn't even make sense that they were working with zemo in the first place! like bucky was WAY too cool with hanging out with the dude who framed him for assassination and then, like. tortured him.
They were reluctant to work with Zemo for that reason and more. But the Flagsmashers were linked to Hydra, since they used the Super Soldier Serum that Hydra once had. And Zemo is the only person left who has background info about Hydra, so at the time, Zemo was the only possible lead to tracking down the Flag Smashers.
Bucky was not gonna flip out on him obviously if he’s trying to get his help and these are important missions so they have to sacrifice that sort of stuff where he would back out of wanting to work him as the city could be at stake
In that scene I really thought Bucky would be the one against it and Falcon - insensitive to Bucky's past - would want to break him out. It would have made the dynamic between Bucky and Zemo more interesting too
@@SupercutsDelight He is such a talented actor with massive range (and in multiple languages!). He was/is great as Zemo, both in TFATWS and Civil War, but I do hope he gets more recognition for his wider career.
I'm a little surprised more people haven't already caught on to Daniel Bruhl's work. When I saw him in Inglorious Bastards, I quickly understood how good of an actor he was. He's only gotten better since then.
I was so excited after the first episode to see how the show would continue to explore Bucky dealing with the bad things he did as the Winter Soldier. Instead they just kind of ignored it for most of the show. And then they shoehorned in the scene of him confessing to the old man about killing his son in a scene that lasts barely a minute and has the most basic dialogue imaginable.
I said this in a separate comment, but I think they focused too much on Sam's life for a show called Falcon *AND* the Winter Soldier. And I agree that they should've put more meaning into the confession scene considering how big of a thing it was for Bucky, but I guess Marvel just thinks he's as disposable as a character like Zola at times.
When Falcon and the Winter Soldier was announced I thought that “ Oh there are gonna be 2 superheroes in 1 show then the villain must be so cool and op” but then I got so so So disappointed when I found out that it’s just some kid with super serum.
They still managed to make the regular terrorists with the serum seem really OP, so much so that Bucky and Sam had real difficulties winning any fights. But then again, they were OP because Bucky got nerfed into oblivion. If it was the real Bucky with the actual skills he has in The Winter Soldier, this show would have ended in the second episode. And at the same time Sam, a normal human, tried to went toe-to-toe with the terrorists and was not pummeled to death even though they were punching and throwing him around. The power levels were fluctuating so much during the season that it was hard to keep track of it all. Everyone was always just as powerful as the story demanded and it made the whole thing jarring.
@@HenkkaArtGames the bucky nerf ;( .. Atleast he got to absolutely decimate them 2 times.. But it should've simply been them running from him... "Longing,.. Seventeen....Daybreak.." I mean he's the winter soldier FFS..
@@HenkkaArtGames The idea behind Buckys "nerf" is that he wants to hold back from lethally subduing his enemies. He doesn't want to revert to using the brutal force he used as the Winter Soldier.
just wait for Loki , you will say " falcon and winter soldier was so much better and more interesting to watch than Loki" and the list goes on ......................
The new ASSEMBLED episode on FAWS sort of explains why the last few episodes had set issues, as it was supposed to be set in Puerto Rico, but they had to move to Prague after the earthquakes caused them to have to rapidly change locations. Additionally, the pandemic also further wrecked these problems with having to virtually location scout because of travel restrictions.
I feel like both WandaVision and F&WS are unfair to judge so harshly due to COVID-related production problems. Gotta consider that these were basically handicapped shows. And despite that, I thought they were both pretty solid. Gotta wait and see until the first Marvel show that didn’t have pandemic problems finally comes around to see these shows at their full potential
@@Marksman3434 Totally agree with you there. It seems like 2020, and its lingering impacts really held back so many great and promising ideas and products.
Not to mention the show was meant to have a pandemic subplot (how the Flagsmashers were going to kill half the population) but they felt it was insensitive so they had to remove it and rework everything else.
When they announced FAWS, I figured it would be your typical thriller/action story with two guys coming together to defeat a common enemy. There were some elements that I thought were done very well, such as John Walker and Zemo, but most of the story, specifically most the dialogue, is very bland and has been done 1000 times before. I'm optimistic for what they'll do for Cap 4 because they set a lot of cool stuff up, such as Captain Hydra (US Agent), and a world that is still recovering from the blip, but I thought FWAS could've been a few episodes shorter and more contained and it would've solved a lot of the issues, such as what you state in the video where the villain just runs off all the time.
John walker never was a villain, he's a good guy with a couple of anti-hero vibes at worst. The show just frames it in a way where you think he's bad, but if you write down what he does and read it out loud you realize that he's probably the most morally righteous of them all
The Isiah Bradley stuff was by far the highlight of the show. Carl Lumbly was absolutely terrific and the way his story wrapped up with his own section in the museum was perfect
One of the thing most stand out to me in the show is when three Americans arguing with three Africans over who had jurisdiction over a European criminal who committed his crimes in Europe and then escaped from a European jail, all while standing in a European city. The irony that they were breaking the international law that they demanded was lost on them.
Lamar: "You always make the right decisions in the heat of battle" Every episode: *John Walker making the worst possible decisions in the heat of battle*
Dose he? Other then busting in on Sam and Karli he really didn’t make the wrong decision. Plus this quote was brought full circle when he saved those people in the van.
I got weird "The Boys" vibes from this show, and The Boys does this kind of dark humor/subverting expecations stuff much better. WandaVision was a much better mini-series in my opinion.
I absolutely agree with you and it really annoys me that nobody else wants to criticize the show, I mean it’s not terrible, but also not awesome. I just feel like nobody wants to say anything bad because of the sensitive topics
^this xD I love how they wanted the film to have a good message but the execution wasn't done well at all. Slow pacing problems, bland arcs for the leads, Karli, sharon as the powerbroker were some of the main issues for me
I liked Wandavision more, but Falcon and Winter Soldier was entertaining as well. I think Wanda's pain just resonates more with my own life than any of Sam or Bucky's struggles.
Falcon is one of the most overrated characters in the MCU imo And this show underuses Bucky by a lot They just made him a side character after the first 2 episodes John Walker was the most interesting character imo but they just completely butchered him in the final episode And I hate how they made him seem like a villain even though falcon and Bucky did way worse things (hospitalizing innocent prison guards and breaking a mass murderer out of prison)
the attempt to side with the flag smashers really annoyed the heck outta me and i hate the whole race thing. Also i dont like how they made John Walker the bad guy for wanting to kill Karli. she was no better than isis.
I give it a B+, would be higher if they focused on Bucky as much as Falcon and if the climax/stakes were set up earlier. I put it ahead of WandaVision because the ending was disappointing, ignored so much unresolved plot points, and became a generic final fight.
Agreed Bucky should have more space . They could make serie bit longer to ad so more space for him and also Karli should have more space so we could get to know her more.
Meh. WV still remained in its emotional core, and well aligned pacing, STAGES OF GRIEF. Provided the most unique fight in the MCU with the philosophical fight bet. the 2 Visions. Putting TFATWS above WV is obv what make that show overrated. It is nowhere as unique, creative and compelling as WV. All review sites are in consensus that WV is objectively better, both in critics and audience, because it is. But well, you do you. I guess.
@@airwaters I’m not hating on any of the shows, in fact episodes 4-6 of WV were great, and one thing it does better than FATWS is give it more rewatch value to see all the pieces connect. My main gripe with WV is, episodes 1-8 were so unique, and then the finale became a generic final battle. It’s hard to compare the two shows when their tones/genres are so different, so what I’m trying to say is that I prefer FATWS to WV. Note: I’m not saying it’s better, I’m just saying it’s my opinion.
At this point, Kevin Feige could film his own shit for 60 minutes and people would blindly praise it. Fanboyism (or stanism) is something that truly needs to stop.
I think they focused on Sam a bit too much for a show called The Falcon *AND* the Winter Soldier. It would've been nice to see more of Bucky's life, but I guess Marvel isn't ready to give him a decent spotlight yet.
Just A reader you are implying that just because you don’t find it as appealing it is poorly written, the argument goes both ways. Many people liked the show, i’m sure many were disappointed aswell: don’t try to act smug by saying that “just because they like it does not mean it can’t be poorly written” , because news flash just because you don’t like it does not mean it is not well written.
@@youri7229 who said I didn’t like it? I liked it, but I can also say “yeah I liked it, but it wasn’t well written.” And yes, you are right-The argument goes both ways. Just because someone hates something doesn’t make it poorly written. Although I do find it interesting that saying something bad written makes me smug like…? Why do you guys do that? Attacking people personally for critiquing a show is kind of pointless
Just A reader you say “people are incapable of understanding that...” which makes it seem like you are stating it as a fact, when it clearly is not a fact; which gave me the smug impression. If that was not the tone you were going for then i take that back but hopefully you see why i got that impression now.
Thank you! I honestly feel most audiences present on social media skew younger and aren’t perhaps as exposed to prior media, therefore view stories such as this (or the MCU) as unique and original
The Marvel fan in me was ready to instantly get defensive but it's kinda true. There wasn't a single moment that I was surprised by. Also it may have been just me being stupid but I was thoroughly confused and not that invested in the main villain faction, the Flag Smashers. The Power Broker thing seemed needless and I thought the entire episode in Madripoor was pointless. The pros were Bucky dealing with his mental programming and the last episode was definitely worth the wait to see Sam as Cap.
For me, aside from the fact that they need to make a WHOLE show to "show" use the character developments of both Bucky and Sam is pointless. Both characters by the end of Endgame have completed story arcs, be it short and have accepted their new roles. We did NOT need to see Sam struggle in taking the mantle of Captain America that Steve entrusted to him nor did we need to forced racial bullshit the show is shoving down our throats. From the cops being racist to the black super soldier being bitter about the US against black people, this entire show is about racism and it's boring
I really don't understand why there is so much hate for john walker. The Good 1) He is shown to be a genuinely nice person from his interview, pre-conversation with his wife and Lamar, jumping on top of 4 grenades, and his 3 medals of honor. 2) In the interview he is humble and shows that he understands the weight of his new position. 3) He saves Bucky and Sam's lives on top of the trucks from the flagsmashers (and bucky and Sam decide not to help them for some reason) 4)He repeatedly tries to extend olive branches and wants to work with Bucky and Sam by offering a ride to them and BAILING BUCKY OUT OF GOING TO PRISION!!! 5) It's only after Sam and Bucky are constant jerks to him that he finally gets fed up and tells them to stay out of his way. 6) When tensions are rising between everyone and the dora milaje (don't know how its spelled, sorry) he tries to deescalate everything and they TRY TO KILL HIM BY THROWING A SPEAR AT HIS HEAD!!! 7) When Sam goes in to talk to Karli Walker is worried that now their element of surprise is lost to catch a TERRORIST and Sam could be in danger or dead (as we've seen karli kills people in her way, or Karli could have escaped 8) He doesn't force his way past Bucky he CONVINCES HIM to let him go in! 9) He thinks he's doing an inadequate job as captain America as even non-super-soldiers beat him and even then he doesn't immediately take the serum when he can 10) He makes sure to have a conversation about it with Lamar who says that he is a good person (which he is) 11) When Lamar is killed it is understandable that John would fly in to a rage. This was his best friend and the only other survivor of their other missions. Not only that but as he is chasing the guy who helped kill Lamar the guy is throwing rocks and status at him. It's only when john walker catches up to him that he surrenders. Yes it was brutal but this was a TERRORIST WHO'S ORGANIZATION KILLED PEOPLE! 12) After this he runs away clearly in anguish about what has happened and what he has done. 13) When Sam and Bucky show up the first thing he tells them is to go get medical treatment (again thinking of others) despite this and the fact that this is clearly a very vulnerable man who just lost his best friend Sam and Bucky tell him to give them the shield and fight him and break his arm 14) After being otherwise honorably discharged he complies and doesn't fight their decision even though he can't get his own testimony in for some reason 15) He talks with Lamar's family 16) In the finale he confronts the flags mashers and tries to save a bunch of people even though it means giving up his chance for revenge and even while they are trying to stop him he holds the VAN WITH ONE HAND AND FIGHTS THE FLAG SMASHERS WITH THE OTHER!!!!! (this is my favorite scene). Also correct me if I am wrong but this seems to be a very Captain America thing to do, having the government tell you to stand down but still doing the right thing. Also by throwing down the sheild and giving up his personal feelings to save people, he definitely earns the right to be Captain America. The Bad 1) His tone seems to be a bit harsh in some instances when he says some stuff A) "stay out of my way" even though it makes sense for him to be frustrated at them B) "I am Captain America" I didn't like this one either and I thought it felt out of character for him as he was shown to be humble about it before C) "Do you know who I am?!" yes this was bad and unprofessional and I didn't like when he said it. 2) "He interrupted sam's and karlis conversation." He couldn't have known sam was safe, that he could talk karli down, or that karli didn't escape etc 3) "He killed people and uses a gun." Steve Rogers used a gun in the first movie and I don't think he used it for a love tap. 4) His only flaws seem to be that he is slightly quicker to anger, frustration, and can get nervous about performing well, but he is clearly a man under incredible amounts of stress dealing with being the Icon of America in this world and dealing with terrorists and sam and bucky who treat him like dirt for no reason and his best friend getting killed. I see John Walker as a good man trying to do his best in an extremely difficult role that was given to him. He's frustrated by his shortcomings and only takes the serum to do a better job (its not for power or something like that). He just wants to be the best Captain America that he can. After all this could someone respond and tell me why they don't like John Walker or why I am wrong I would love the debate.
I really liked walker and zemo, sam was decent too but bucky felt like a side character while being one of the named character also flag smashers were pretty disappointing antagonists and my biggest problem with the show along with sharon's character arc
Tbh the action is great and so is the story but i think marvel could have gone from focusing way to much on sam and his boat to bucky, zemo, john walker and even maybe the flag smashers. it would make more sense and the last episode would be amazing with the build up.
and suddenly john walker becomes good and then us agent? marvel mixed up but then i wouldn't say the show or the story is overrated, just how marvel showed it to us. i didn't like when episode 5 was literally sam fixing his boat
Sam having money issues makes no fucking sense. Not only would people gladly donate to one of the saviors of HUMANITY, he could do sponsorships and ads like every other famous person.
I mean, where to start People would not gladly do that, because people are selfish scum. But let's pretend good people exist - the show established that the world economy is pretty broken so charitable donations likely wouldn't be a thing that happens much As for sponsorships and ads- the man who takes sponsorships and ads is not the man who should be wielding the shield
@@FaceClef No, I'm saying OP's idea that the entire world would fund heroes just for the sake of being heroes is unikely. Sam's townspeople helped Sam out as a person not as a hero.

Oh, and look how LOKI, the man who fought the Avengers, is getting beat up by everyone... I'm seeing a pattern. I'm sure you can see it in Black Widow as well...
I think the character development of John was great. I didn’t want to see as a bad guy to be stopped by the good guys (Sam and Bucky) instead we see his interior conflict and how he made very big mistakes (killing the guy)... who shouldn’t be made by icons and idols but he is still a person which is flawed and I liked how in the end he did something that was heroic because after all we can see that he supported and appreciated by his friend and he looked like a nice guy. What I hated was how this guys (terrorists) were able to go toe to toes with Bucky and John after the serum. It didn’t make sense to me. Especially karli beating John in the final episode.
@@zackyvwasin339 Like I said, we love everything they give us as long as it's above a certain level. We all know they're not really Oscar worthy movies.
Finally, someone said it. As a Marvel fan myself, I was pretty disappointed with the show. My favorite thing was Bucky's character development tbh. Apart from that, there's nothing special about the show tbh...
That whole series could have been made into a good two-hours movie...It was really long and boring at time. And Sam... Get a loan from Pepper Potts damnit.
That's actually a good solution. Or she might just give a grant. But considering that Sam was on cap's side. I do not know how pepper would react after knowing about that.
As someone who loved the show, I think you made some good points. Also it’s just your opinion and not a universal truth, people need to learn to be more chill
i have to say i would personally watch an HOUR of sam fixing the boat. honestly one of my favorite parts of the show. but i can definitely get behind your points on karli. they totally fumbled with her
TFATWS isn’t overrated. It’s actually really good. You know what is overrated? WandaVision. Everyone says it’s like the greatest thing ever, it’s actually very far from it.
I felt like Falcon and the Winter Soldier was the most relatable to the real world and the most grounded of the MCU shows. As much as I liked the whole multiverse stuff the MCU is doing. I don't feel any-kind of connection to it at the end of the day. Loki and wandavison were fun too watch, and theorize about. But they did not have any lasting emotional impact, other then feeling a bit bad for Wanda and Loki. At least for me. I hope they do more with Bucky and Sam and keep them more on earth dealing with the Biger issues of earth. Fighting organizations like Hydra. Because they make the MCU feel grounded and relatable. Sam and Bucky are some of the only hero left in the MCU that feel like they could exist in the real world. I am very afraid that with the MCU heading into the whole multiverse stiff we are going to loss them.
Zemo was fun, the character interactions where fun, SOME of the action was fun, and as a political extremist I connected with the villains more then most people. I’d rate it a 6/10 I’m probably not gonna rewatch except zemo clips.
When I went into the show I believed I would hate John walker But when I saw it he was just a nice guy with someone else's shield but when lemar was killed and John walker killed Nico I didn't hate him, I hated Sam and bucky who only asked for the shield instead of consoling John it angers me that people hate John for killing Nico People saying "It makes it worse that Nico was a fan of captain America" "It makes it worse that bla bla bla" No It makes it worse that they killed his childhood friend and he was punished
I appreciate the criticism and your opinion but I liked the series a lot. It obviously wasn't mind blowing , but for what it was , I found it great to get to know Sam and Bucky better and to show the development in their relationship as they work together. For me the series was more about seeing how Bucky copes with living in the modern world and dealing with everything he did as the winter soldier. Many people didn't like the fact that the conversation between him and Yuri was short but I don't know what else they would show them talking about. I also liked Sam's story of giving away the shield because he didn't feel like it belonged to him to stating that he is Captain America in the finale. The boat subplot was also great because it showed us how Sam wanted to preserve his family's legacy just like he wanted Isaiah's legacy to be respected just like Steve. I do think that the flag smashers plot could've been better but looking at the fact that they had difficulties due to covid I cut them some slack. I don't get how some people didn't like Sam's speech because of was 'corny' or 'unrealistic' , this is literally Marvel , it isn't the most unrealistic thing ever , I thought it was uplifting and representative of struggles that oppressed groups go through. The domestic Sambucky moments didn't hurt either. For me the show was to set character development for the fourth cap movie rather than for the action that people wanted. Everyone has different interests and some people like me would like it more than others. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinions , just stating mine.
Thank you. Finally someone voicing all my opinions. Sam Wilson is the lead of the show and yet he is the most boring character with the most little going on, with a speech at the end that is the cringiest thing I've ever heard. Realistically that speech would never work. And Bucky is fine but they didn't do as much as they could have. And the villains were just flat out forgettable. Half-way through the season and I still didn't understand what they were fighting for, and sure maybe I just didn't pay enough attention, but I almost fell asleep while watching every single episode soo yeah. Zemo carried the show though, kind of. And John Walker had a lot of potential too, but... And the forced banter between Sam and Bucky is just... yikes
Personally I enjoyed it more than Wanda vision. I liked most of the action even tho the setting of it wasn’t great( only 2 good set areas) I liked John Walker as a character and not as a cap, I was annoyed when he just turned good at the last episode cause I thought he could have been a good villain. The flag smasher leader I don’t remember their name they to me were not that good of a villain and their motives were not that clear to me. I did like Sam and Bucky in this cause to before they felt like side character who said one liners and were just there half the time. I liked how they work with Zemo I thought that was cool. I thought it was a good show and didn’t have to much stuff I didn’t like, well that’s what I thought of it anyway, we all have our opinions if you say it sucks than I can’t argue with that.
The issues were the Flagsmashers vague agenda and Walker' sudden redemption. In my opinion, Walker's arc should've been wrapped up in the 5th episode like Zemo's. The finale should have focused solely on Sam, Bucky & Sharon defeating the Flagsmashers. Overall I still very much enjoyed it especially the Isiah Bradley storyline.
It always felt weird to me that Tony apparently didn't use his vast wealth to help take care of the families of the snapped Avengers, considering there aren't many who actually have families. It just feels like yet another way the MCU treats its heroes like they don't exist in the same world until they need to team up for a bigger movie.
Wanda vision was also overrated imo. Possibly even more than this show. I get that they took risks and tried some different things but “different” does not necessarily mean “good”. Some people such as myself have always hated old school sitcoms so just because it’s being done in an unusual setting with unusual characters does not suddenly make it good. Not to mention the ending was straight up bad. Loki was the best of the Disney+ shows so far and as of me posting this I’m including what if?
It is overrated. But the thing that bugged me most was Karli. She is terrible. Not just as a character, but the actress CAN'T ACT. Her line delivery is SO poor. Her acting is so incredibly stiff. It's just annoying. Her character's motivation is so not believable. How can you say things we're better if we have NO idea what you are talking about. She never explains it. She has no self reflection and killing people is just a 'meh' thing to her. it's bad writing and bad acting.
Wow, this has to be the first honest review about this show that i found. This show was meh but every reviewer acting like it's such a good show to be friends with Disney is just wrong...
I mean like dude everybody has different opinions. What makes his review more honest than others cause he was shitting on some aspects of it? Maybe the things that bothered supercuts didn't bother other reviewers.
Thank you for sharing this! I agree that the story writing can be A Lot better.......... I like the characters in this show but it seems like the writer don’t know how to put everything together? The pace is wired and Sam and Bucky’s relationship is very awkward in the beginning.
There's one other thing that bothered me. In the last episode, when the show took a huge direction against cliché, racism and discriminationt the French thug ask to Sam the money, then he reply "So what ? You can buy baguette and beret ?" I don't know I just find this very ironic. The other way wouldn't have sounded that good.
Things I didn’t like. Power Broker became a rushed villain, I mean it wasn’t really even fully stated who the power broker truly was. Zemo was hyped up to be taken away pretty early on. Bucky in the last 2 episodes was just turned into a side character, and Bucky didn’t even get that much development, I mean he had his “list”, but we didn’t even see him do much for those people. Sam’s story is good, but at times they act as though he isn’t an Avenger who has many Avenger friends, and is a specialist in the military yet he struggles and people don’t recognize him. Carly is literally the most bland, boring and terrible villain ever, they want me to sympathize with her yet she wants to kill dozens of people and is mad that when people came back she had to give all her free shit back to the people who were dusted. Bucky doesn’t even get a new outfit, and he gets called the Winter Soldier when he deserves to be called the White Wolf, who earned that title. John Walker was great, but was just thrown out at the end, and he acted as though he was a good guy again. The Wakandan ladies were pretty big assholes, especially when John Walker is just trying to talk. Add more if you want to.

Well... he should make a tutorial of "how to be one of the most hated characters in the mcu without saying a word" tho.
"Are we working with criminals now?". Flashback to you participating in blowing up a humanitarian aid stash
I feel like he didn’t want to kill her because she was a teen
Because it's in the heat of the moment where the enemy is actively trying to kill him from multiple angles.
Karli never saw Sam or Lamar as enemy's compared to the GRC, as she saw government officials who abuse their power, step on those beneath them, and the cause of her mother's death.
There's a difference between defending yourself and murdering someone straight up.....
Falcon’s happy ending: helps his sister outta poverty, gets to be the new Cap, is seen as a hero
Bucky’s ending: “hi...I killed your son...see you never”
Personally, I quite liked that ending.

@@jopabr24 the fuck?
@Joseph Breen but with the whole show just putting Bucky to shame, it ain’t funny 😑

Was saying

My biggest complaint was the writing. It feels like it was written as a college freshman’s creative writing assignment.
@@Lovemetender757
Bucky's progression was non-sensical
He was traumatised, then went on an adventure with Sam, and came back non-traumatised and ready to move on.
Biggest waste of potential of any MCU character.
They threw away all the potential for a story about how he got rid of the Winter Soldier control in a 1min flashback.
I knew that I wasn’t the only one who liked Bucky more than Sam.
Sam had so much potential all wasted to show anti racist agendas. When you write a character keep politics out of it.
@@Shome2049 It's not even about politics but the severe unbelievability of it all. Like the whole black super soldier thing. He wasn't 'erased' because he was black.
Everything he does apart from that is the good decision (morally)
He saves Bucky and Sam's life, and THEY'RE the ones being antagonistic and petulent children over the shield.
When Sam and Bucky confront him after he killed the terrorist, what were his first words ? "You guys should see a doctor, you seem hurt"
John Walkder was never even close to being a bad guy, he's the true hero of the story and the one most deserving of the Captain America title (especially after the last episode where he clearly shows selflessness and helps civilians instead of pursuing his targets.
For all they know, they intend to kill him (they already tried with the spear throw after all)
The two protagonists are horrible people in this show, but for some weird reason, people tell you John is the bad guy.

I would give it B and wandavision A- personally
This show could have been good if marvel didn't mostly focus on putting Easter eggs.
Not a masterpiece by any means but pretty fun
At this point, Kevin Feige could film his own shit for 60 minutes and people would blindly praise it. Fanboyism (or stanism) is something that truly needs to stop.
I think they focused on Sam a bit too much for a show called The Falcon *AND* the Winter Soldier. It would've been nice to see more of Bucky's life, but I guess Marvel isn't ready to give him a decent spotlight yet.

Yep, because people are incapable of understanding that just because they like something doesn’t make it well written.
@@justareader____ very well spoken
Agreed
the freckled ginger girl takes me OUT of the show. She looks less threatening than she did in Solo!
The effects were CRAZY though.
I really don't understand why there is so much hate for john walker.
The Good
1) He is shown to be a genuinely nice person from his interview, pre-conversation with his wife and Lamar, jumping on top of 4 grenades, and his 3 medals of honor.
2) In the interview he is humble and shows that he understands the weight of his new position.
3) He saves Bucky and Sam's lives on top of the trucks from the flagsmashers (and bucky and Sam decide not to help them for some reason)
4)He repeatedly tries to extend olive branches and wants to work with Bucky and Sam by offering a ride to them and BAILING BUCKY OUT OF GOING TO PRISION!!!
7) When Sam goes in to talk to Karli Walker is worried that now their element of surprise is lost to catch a TERRORIST and Sam could be in danger or dead (as we've seen karli kills people in her way, or Karli could have escaped
8) He doesn't force his way past Bucky he CONVINCES HIM to let him go in!
9) He thinks he's doing an inadequate job as captain America as even non-super-soldiers beat him and even then he doesn't immediately take the serum when he can
10) He makes sure to have a conversation about it with Lamar who says that he is a good person (which he is)
11) When Lamar is killed it is understandable that John would fly in to a rage.
13) When Sam and Bucky show up the first thing he tells them is to go get medical treatment (again thinking of others) despite this and the fact that this is clearly a very vulnerable man who just lost his best friend Sam and Bucky tell him to give them the shield and fight him and break his arm
14) After being otherwise honorably discharged he complies and doesn't fight their decision even though he can't get his own testimony in for some reason
15) He talks with Lamar's family
16) In the finale he confronts the flags mashers and tries to save a bunch of people even though it means giving up his chance for revenge and even while they are trying to stop him he holds the VAN WITH ONE HAND AND FIGHTS THE FLAG SMASHERS WITH THE OTHER!!!!! (this is my favorite scene). Also correct me if I am wrong but this seems to be a very Captain America thing to do, having the government tell you to stand down but still doing the right thing. Also by throwing down the sheild and giving up his personal feelings to save people, he definitely earns the right to be Captain America.
The Bad
1) His tone seems to be a bit harsh in some instances when he says some stuff
A) "stay out of my way" even though it makes sense for him to be frustrated at them B) "I am Captain America" I didn't like this one either and I thought it felt out of character for him as he was shown to be humble about it before C) "Do you know who I am?!" yes this was bad and unprofessional and I didn't like when he said it.
2) "He interrupted sam's and karlis conversation." He couldn't have known sam was safe, that he could talk karli down, or that karli didn't escape etc
3) "He killed people and uses a gun." Steve Rogers used a gun in the first movie and I don't think he used it for a love tap.
Tbh the action is great and so is the story but i think marvel could have gone from focusing way to much on sam and his boat to bucky, zemo, john walker and even maybe the flag smashers. it would make more sense and the last episode would be amazing with the build up.
and suddenly john walker becomes good and then us agent? marvel mixed up but then i wouldn't say the show or the story is overrated, just how marvel showed it to us. i didn't like when episode 5 was literally sam fixing his boat
but then we should give it to them cause there were only 6 episodes
Ok, I dont agree with you on fixing the boat. I really liked that part. The rest of it, yeah, I agree.
Personally I couldn't even finish the show! The dialogue was so painful to listen to lol
Sam having money issues makes no fucking sense. Not only would people gladly donate to one of the saviors of HUMANITY, he could do sponsorships and ads like every other famous person.
I mean, where to start
People would not gladly do that, because people are selfish scum. But let's pretend good people exist - the show established that the world economy is pretty broken so charitable donations likely wouldn't be a thing that happens much
As for sponsorships and ads- the man who takes sponsorships and ads is not the man who should be wielding the shield
See Amazon's The Boys for further details
@@Daneki His town dropped everything they were doing to come fix his boat but you're saying they wouldn't donate money
@@FaceClef No, I'm saying OP's idea that the entire world would fund heroes just for the sake of being heroes is unikely. Sam's townspeople helped Sam out as a person not as a hero.
@@Daneki Good people certainly do exist. There's quite a lot of them actually. You've watched too much of The Boys.
WandaVision: Wanda possesses the minds of innocent people, threatens reality and traumatizes a town , but it's okay because she's grieving and "they'll never know what (she) sacrificed."
FaTWS: Karli and her terrorist group kill innocent people because she and others want to go back to the life Thanos gave them, but it's okay because she lost her mother figure and the government is bad.
LOKI: Sylvie breaks reality itself and unleashes a greater threat to all lives, but it's okay because she's mad she was kidnapped as a kid.
It's not overrated. Just that Marvel fans love almost everything MCU gives us.
Including Thor 2?
@@zackyvwasin339 Like I said, we love everything they give us as long as it's above a certain level. We all know they're not really Oscar worthy movies.
Overrated? I didn't know it was rated
Finally, someone said it. As a Marvel fan myself, I was pretty disappointed with the show. My favorite thing was Bucky's character development tbh. Apart from that, there's nothing special about the show tbh...
It's definitely not a masterpiece but I loved the show a lot despite it's flaws. But among all the Disney Plus MCU shows, it's definitely underrated.
*Overrated and overpraised*
You spelled underrated wrong pleb, now Wandavision is overrated
That whole series could have been made into a good two-hours movie...It was really long and boring at time. And Sam... Get a loan from Pepper Potts damnit.
That's actually a good solution. Or she might just give a grant. But considering that Sam was on cap's side. I do not know how pepper would react after knowing about that.
As someone who loved the show, I think you made some good points. Also it’s just your opinion and not a universal truth, people need to learn to be more chill
Overrated how? It was not highly praised at all. It got avg marks at best.
i have to say i would personally watch an HOUR of sam fixing the boat. honestly one of my favorite parts of the show. but i can definitely get behind your points on karli. they totally fumbled with her
I enjoyed the show for what it is but I respect your opinion, mate.
Same
TFATWS isn’t overrated. It’s actually really good. You know what is overrated? WandaVision. Everyone says it’s like the greatest thing ever, it’s actually very far from it.
You misspelled 'awful'
THANK YOU FOR THIS
I felt like Falcon and the Winter Soldier was the most relatable to the real world and the most grounded of the MCU shows.
When I went into the show I believed I would hate John walker
But when I saw it he was just a nice guy with someone else's shield but when lemar was killed and John walker killed Nico I didn't hate him, I hated Sam and bucky who only asked for the shield instead of consoling John it angers me that people hate John for killing Nico
People saying
"It makes it worse that Nico was a fan of captain America"
"It makes it worse that bla bla bla"
No It makes it worse that they killed his childhood friend and he was punished
Finally! Someone said it!
Nobody is claiming this was anything special.
Less overrated then Game of thrones 🙂
When he talks about GOT xd?
It always felt weird to me that Tony apparently didn't use his vast wealth to help take care of the families of the snapped Avengers, considering there aren't many who actually have families. It just feels like yet another way the MCU treats its heroes like they don't exist in the same world until they need to team up for a bigger movie.
You do remember Tony died after the snap right?
Love how they completely skip Bucky talking to the old guy at the end. Show was way overhyped and was a 5/10
Wanda vision was also overrated imo.
I feel that maybe the show could have done with being just a bit less political
just a bit
It is overrated. But the thing that bugged me most was Karli. She is terrible. Not just as a character, but the actress CAN'T ACT. Her line delivery is SO poor. Her acting is so incredibly stiff. It's just annoying. Her character's motivation is so not believable. How can you say things we're better if we have NO idea what you are talking about. She never explains it. She has no self reflection and killing people is just a 'meh' thing to her. it's bad writing and bad acting.
The bank loan scene killed me.
Yeah, they just forced racism into it for no good reason.
@@kingofcards9 yeah
Wow, this has to be the first honest review about this show that i found.
This show was meh but every reviewer acting like it's such a good show to be friends with Disney is just wrong...
I mean like dude everybody has different opinions. What makes his review more honest than others cause he was shitting on some aspects of it? Maybe the things that bothered supercuts didn't bother other reviewers.
US Agent and Zemo really interesting characters.
Thank you for sharing this! I agree that the story writing can be A Lot better.......... I like the characters in this show but it seems like the writer don’t know how to put everything together? The pace is wired and Sam and Bucky’s relationship is very awkward in the beginning.
Nevertheless, I personally enjoyed it had a couple of good laughs and I like some of the characters like Zemo and Bucky
to me it felt like captain America winter solider, but a tv show version
There's one other thing that bothered me. In the last episode, when the show took a huge direction against cliché, racism and discriminationt the French thug ask to Sam the money, then he reply "So what ? You can buy baguette and beret ?" I don't know I just find this very ironic. The other way wouldn't have sounded that good.
Maybe it's because the race narrative was forced in because politics.
