This has a huge amount of work for a bootleg. The flow of the animation, the highly detailed backgrounds, the sprites, all the stages do exist, the secret moves are there... even the monks applaud... This stuff Is very well done.
@@apatheticartist9607 I think has to do with China banning game consoles. the famicom was huge in the Chinese bootleg market. so there was development for it that continued beyond its years. kids would be aware of Mortal Kombat but with no access to an SNES or Genesis you'd be lucky to find this at your local market along with several 200 in 1 cartridges. I tried to find an article that could help pin down things better but couldn't find one from a cursory search.

I borrowed this game from someone and I liked it right away. It was the first one on one fighting game I played. I remember worrying about those red eyes in the shadows in the background and thinking a beast would jump from there and I would have to fight it at one point. It never happened.
Probably the best looking fighting game on the NES, but maybe not the best to play on the system. Would have to check it out sometime. Edit: Also where can I buy this? My friends would love this.
God, I was missing that music so much. I played this game in 1996 when we couldn't afford Sega. My cousin kept frying me with Rayden pissing me off. My favorite stage was the forest with living trees.

You can probably find some repros or even original bootleg carts on eBay. But beware, most of them are for clone consoles.
At first because Rayden was affiliated to this area, I thought he was one of the bad guys.
I believe the first game he was more of a villain character, later games he became that mentor I could be wrong though
