      Sweating during Sons of Winter and Stars, huh? That’s just a morning walk in the park compared to him playing Meshuggah’s ”War” with Rotten Sound. If you can play a song live that Tomas Haake can’t, you have won in the game called life.

    "You don't see people own the stage like that."
    Yes, Floor has amazing stage presence. 😊 But I admit that there's another singer I've seen live who completely owns the stage and the audience: JP Leppäluoto. That man has an unholy amount of charisma, and is also one of the sweetest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I'd highly suggest reacting to some of his music. (He's also really close friends with both Marco and Floor, and I imagine the other NW members as well.)

    Troy was playing what are called uilleann pipes .. aka .. Irish bagpipe. from linked Wikipedia article .. "The uilleann pipes have a different harmonic structure, sounding sweeter and quieter than many other bagpipes, such as the Great Irish warpipes, Great Highland bagpipes or the Italian zampognas. The uilleann pipes are often played indoors, and are almost always played sitting down."

    First of all you got the wrong version of the video, this song is 21 min and you missed the last 3 minutes of it! this is about the evolution of life on the planet earth, starts from beginning of the creation until present day and the imaginary of the screen in background follows that concept! BTW, The greatest show on Earth is the title of a book by Richard Dawkins, the evolutionary British biologist who was the Tuomas's inspiration for the album Endless Forms most Beautiful in 2015. Thank you man! enjoy your reactions 🤘🤘🖤🖤

    Now you understand why this one and The poet and the pendulum are always my first suggestions, together with Ghost love score... All Nightwish songs are great or amazing, but these three are metal symphonies... Now you know, The Poet should be the next one, and don't forget to do Epica sometime...
    Greetings from Spain and stay metal...

    Yay you did it! :) Told you it was good, glad you enjoyed it :) Yes you missed out the last couple of mins of the spoken word part at the very end, but in the grand scheme of things its not the end of the world, everything else was solid! I don't think you've met their original singer, Tarja (tarya) yet have you?? I think it might be time for you to hear her, and I strongly suggest Phantom of the opera at the end of an era gig :)
    Btw, on the new album coming out on Friday (counting down the hours!) the 'evil genius' - aka Tuomas-has written a song/instrumental score in 8 parts that's an entire CD itself (hence why its a double album)

  • @athlonen
    @athlonen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    About that imagery in the background. You should have a read of the lyrics. This song, let alone this entire album, is inspired by your country's own Richard Dawkins. He's the one who is reading the narrative at the beginning and end of the song. This song is about the evolution of the universe, including us, from the Big Bang (the fireworks) through LUCA (Last Universal Common Ancestor), in which all organisms on the planet have a common descent, through the creation of the earth. For example: "Common Laws of Gravity pulls the newborns around the fire". The planets being formed around the sun. "A Careless cold infinity in every vast direction." Space. "Lonely bearer in the goldilocks zone, she has a tale to tell." The goldilocks zone is the perfect distance from a star where conditions are perfect for supporting life.
    From that, through the various ages, to where we hit the modern era, where if you listen closely, you'll hear excerpts from Mozart, to banjo playing, to Metallica (in particular, Enter Sandman), to techno. In short, this show isn't the Greatest show on earth; we, *LIFE* is the Greatest Show on Earth. The last narrating by Dawkins during the credits ends with "from so simple a beginning, endless forms most beautiful are, and are still being evolved." Note the name of the album that this song is on. It's no coincidence.

    This song develops slowly to represent the forming of the universe. Troy is playing a very English instrument called a tin whistle or penny whistle. a type of ancient flute. That was Richard Dawkins spoken words. A song that covers 4.6 billion years of the evolution of the universe, the solar system, earth, and Humankind. It starts with;
    Archaean horizon
    The first sunrise
    On a pristine gaea
    Opus perfectum
    Somewhere there, us sleeping
    And ends with;
    Man, he took his time in the sun
    Had a dream to understand
    A single grain of sand
    He gave birth to poetry
    But one day'll cease to be
    Greet the last light of the library
    We were here!

    Next up would logically be The Poet And The Pendulum th-cam.com/video/qUAoCc9mYFA/w-d-xo.html . This is a very special song however so in order to appreciate it fully, make sure you read the wikipedia article about the history of the band and on the song itself.
    This song is about Tuomas' feelings of self-hatred and depression (and his virtual suicide) following the firing of Nightwish's first vocalist and Tuomas' long time friend Tarja, as well as the hate and backlash he got from it. I recommend having the lyrics open when you react to it.
    The song is also a frequent copyright claim target. Most reactors I've seen who successfully upload it make several pauses throughout the song to comment/analyze it for more than a few seconds. In some cases, that wasn't enough and they just uploaded the reaction video elsewhere and made a video on TH-cam with the link.
