This is a wonderful tribute to Pink Floyd. Excellent performance from Marko and the boys, especially when Tarja was changing her colors. Also, David Gilmour liked this version so much that he had this performance put up on the official Pink Floyd site.
So glad you reacted to this one! I love their version between Marko's deep, emotional vocals and Emmpu's absolute shredding on the guitar was fantastic. And of course, Jukka was once again just going to town on the drums.
From my own perspective, this is not so much a 'cover' of this amazing, timeless song, as it is a re-imagining. Just AWESOME! The AMAZING Drummer here is Jukka Nevalainen, one of the Founding Members (he is still part of Nightwish but in a different position, still part of the team, just no longer a performer). Tuomas Holopainen is the keyboardist and by the way, Nightwish is 'his' baby from a creative perspective. He's one of a few remaining original Founding Members but he is also the Composer and Songwriter, the creative mind behind about 95% of all of Nightwish' original content. The idea for putting together this band was originally his. He's the 'Father' of the band in a very real sense. Emppu Vuorinen is the Lead Guitarist and another Founding Member of the band. He is under-stated as a guitarist; he could totally be a God and take over the stage any time he wanted with his skills, but he remains tame and grounded. He puts the band's needs first because he is no show-off or braggart. It's all about the music. That is the mark of a good guy and a real team player.
Pink Floyd was my huge love of my pre-Metal-period (and I re-discovered my love due to your reaction videos for which I can’t thank you enough, dear Stacey ❤️). Nightwish was the band that turned me into a Metalhead and I felt the same emotions as you when I heard this version for the first time, my two musical worlds coming together. Seeing you react to this tribute makes my heart melt and burst into tears 😭
Stacey, I am a long time PF fan who properly got into music in the 1970s. Floyd was a 'happening' thing then and I, therefore have been a lifelong fan. In my opinion, High Hopes was a fine song, well placed in the album. It serves to bring back old, old memories. I am also a sucker for original musical pieces. So I found it very difficult to admit but I think this version is the preferred one, even though I love the original. This has caused me great turmoil but it had to be said. Lovely reaction, as ever. Take care darlin'.
This song is, also, an excellent demonstration of how could Emppu is and how precious he is. He gets to show nis technical capacities in a way he rarely has the opportunity and you realise how good he his. Because Emppu is not the kind of guitarist who likes to show off for the sake of it, he’s a musician who does what’s best for the song, no more, no less
High Hopes is my favourite Pink Floyd song, and this Nightwish tribute was fantastic. You mention how impressed you were with Jukka the drummer in this version, the concert was nearly cancelled, Jukka had horrendous migraines, watch again, watch Jukka with his head in his hands he was in agony, he did remarkably well to get through it drumming that well also, and goes without saying the rest of the band were fantastic.
Loved your reaction to this . Nightwish & Pink Floyd are 2 of my favourite bands . Like what you said about Pink Floyd changing your life . I felt the same back in the 1970’s .
From a Led head, yes PF is one of the greatest, this tribute is incredible. Could watch it a million times. I’m so glad you reacted to it, so I could watch it again. Thank you Stacy!
Beautifully done by Nightwish , they are my favorite band now as Pink Floyd was in my youth. I know that David loved it. Toumas on keyboards I think the late Richard Wright would of approved of. And Jukka I`m sure Nick Mason would approve
I must say that we can leave Roger Walters out of this as he was mad that the other band members toured under the Pink Floyd name. David took the band and proved that Walters song writing was not needed.
Beautiful! Everything I expected and more! VERY well done! Pink Floyd was melancholy and regretful - Nightwish still had the first part but they were NOT giving in to it! Even the circle of lights above and behind them hearkened back to PF's Pulse concert 10 years before! drummer - Jukka Nevalainen. Emppu on guitar. Tuomas on keys.
YES!!! Nightwish needs to Reform with Marko and Jukka and do some Pink Floyd Covers!!!! ONLY Having Marko & Floor Singing!!!! Thanx for Doing this!!! I LOVE YOU So Much!!! YOU are the BEST YT Reactor out there!!!!
One of the things that make this performance even more powerful to me is the fact that this was the last show with their original singer, Tarja. There was a lot of turmoil within the band at that time, and at the end of that show, Tarja was going to be handed her dismissal letter, a fact that was known by all members of the band (except her). Thus, this particular show has a special vibe. It could have been the final show of Nightwish, the night their High Hopes were dashed.
I would like to say of all the reaction videos, you are by far the most entertaining and talented. I can feel your enthusiasm and excitement for each reaction and it feels good to watch your true feelings for ach band. Keep it up. You’re amazing
A clever man and excellent music connoisseur once said in a BBC interview, "If I didn't know that this song was by Pink Floyd, I would think it was by Nightwish. This is the best cover of a Pink Floyd song I've ever heard." ... This man goes by the name of David Gilmour. When it comes to making music big and epic, you can't get past Queen, Pink Floyd, and Nightwish. They create art from another planet.
Hell Yeah!!! The Guitarist, Emppu, did David Gilmour JUSTICE & RESPECT, even though he Added his Own "Flair", just like Marko took Liberties, to raise the Vocal Notes a bit, to Create a More Powerful Impact to the Lyrics!!! Also, The Drummer, Jukka (YOO-kah) was just as Expressive as Pink Floyd's Nick Mason! This was a "Heavenly Match", Made by the "British Soothsayers and the Nordic Valkyries & Gods"!!!
The diehard floyd fans are very fussy about covers, this version is well liked among the fans, in your comment section is the only time ive heard a floyd fan not liking this, there usually seems to be a great respect from each bands fans for each other.
Different strokes for different folks and... I never liked it. There are some strange inflections to that vocals delivery and to my ears its supposed to be sang straightforward with that english touch. The way Marko sings it somehow interferes with the music. Just my opinion
Music being different but the meaning of the lyrics is for the originators as it's about the band. Lyrics were written by Gilmour , Wright and Dave's wife Polly.
Great reaction, Stacey! IMO, both Pink Floyd and Nightwish are great bands. I enjoyed this cover very much. A different take, but it maintains the essence of the original.
quite a beautiful reaction, thanks for the vids from Colorado. Beatles, Pink Floyd, Nightwish, top 3 rock bands all time for the poetry and music and innovasion. of course my top 20 is harder to choose since so many greats

In an interview Tuomas said when Marco joined the band in 2001: "Now I have the two best singers of Finland in my band" (Tarja and Marco). Marco did a great job here and so did the other band members. Concerning Emppu: He never overplays but does what the song needs. Therefore he is often underrated as a guitarist. And Jukka is such an enthusiatic drummer who plays with body and soul. It is really a pity that he had to stop drumming in 2014/2015 because of severe health problems. He is still with the band but now in management. His good friend Kai Hatho who replaced him also is a great drummer but with a totally different style.
My favourite Pink Floyd track is always Shine on you crazy diamond 6-9. I do hope you don’t mind the reminder, but I guarantee you will love it so much. It’s is haunting, sad, sophisticated and a wonderful ending that wraps up the tribute to Syd Barrett that is Wish You Were Here 😢

Nightwish has been a long time favorite of mine, sad to tell you Marco is not longer in the band, a kind of their grounded fource element in my mind . There are only 2 Pink Floyd covers that come close to the originals, IMO. You might like to check that one out one day as well. 🤘🙂
Nightwish and Pink Floyd are both in my top 5 bands ever, and I feel it is almost sacrilege to cover PF, but I have to say for me this is my preferred version of this song....

This was a known superb performance but how about reacting to new Wintersun album? No fancy music videos, just great music. If you want something lighter, the song "Silver Leaves" is very good but the "Storm" is the most interesting. It could be described as a heavy metal representation of a hurricane.
Hi Stacey, maybe it’s not all related for today’s video reaction but I’d like to give a recommendation for a future reaction: Englishman In New York - Sting Hope you can check it out. See you.
this is pretty cool never heard of them b4 heres a few bands / albums to look into Savatage / Edge of thorns... Bad Company / here comes trouble / Holy WaterCo, Dangerous age / something about you ..... Giant / I'll see you in my dreams. I'll stop there for now .
@T_ele-grem_StaceyRPG1 Hellol hello great to hear you🐈🐈Unfortunately, I have the feeling that with Marco the power in the new works has been lost. I have no doubt that the new bass player is good, but he won't be able to replace two decades of power and vocals. And that's been the case since hearing human to nature😮💨Musically, NW is and remains a highlight, but I personally miss the metal part

Nightwish are obviously a very good band. Great musicianship. However i think the songs of some bands are harder than others to do successful covers of. Still a good listen and reaction nonetheless 👍:-)
There are many better covers of Enter Sandman than The Warning. It's just that they were three young girls at the time of their first recording. And have done very well from it.
@@clivematthews5296 Yes, they have. I meant their Blacklist version with Alessia Cara. Let me put it this way, it's one of the best reimaginings of a song I have ever heard, they made it their own, just like Nightwish did with High Hopes, and that is what sets it apart from a lot of covers. I don't go around looking for covers of Enter Sandman, I think Liliac's cover of it is the only other one I have heard, and it's pretty cool as well, I like The Warning better as a band, though.
Often times it's a fools errand to cover a Pink Floyd song. Usually, not much good comes from it. Then there's Nightwish. They step up and knock it out of the park. Amazing. The only other cover I've seen that comes close and hits as hard is Disturbed cover of "Sound of Silence" on the Conan show. Both are stunning.
Pretty sure NW doesn't need to do PF covers. Their original material has become the new classics in the realm of Floyd and Zep and others. Having said that , any rock musician worth their salt probably has a PF song they would like to do!
This is a wonderful tribute to Pink Floyd. Excellent performance from Marko and the boys, especially when Tarja was changing her colors.

This version of High Hopes will be played on my funeral. What a tribute to life and music. Love this song and this version is out of this world 💚🤍
I think you summed it up perfectly.
This is a tribute more than a cover. Nightwish did an immaculate job of it. Dave Gilmour loves it.
So glad you reacted to this one! I love their version between Marko's deep, emotional vocals and Emmpu's absolute shredding on the guitar was fantastic. And of course, Jukka was once again just going to town on the drums.

Disturbed's video is worth viewing as well. I wonder what the reactions would be if hearing the covers first, then the original.
please also react to "I wish I had an angel" from them
Pretty sure NW doesn't need to do PF covers. Their original material has become the new classics in the realm of Floyd and Zep and others. Having said that , any rock musician worth their salt probably has a PF song they would like to do!
Floor needs to cover the great gig in the sky
hey, maybe do ever dream from nightwish? :)
Ils ont fait leur version sans dénaturer l'original. C'est ce qui fait que ça fonctionne.
Tu vois, on a bien fait de t'en parler.
