Dear Daniel, you are a man who is a gift from God and you are not only my savior but certainly thousands of people around the world. My experience with insomnia is interesting for several reasons. It is all caused by my constant fear that I will develop life-threatening consequences from lack of sleep. Because of you, I understood how this all works and how this fear feeds insomnia and that all I need to do is simply do nothing about it and get used to the fact that there will be bad days without sleep. I have one interesting question for you, because there is still something that is stopping me from getting through all this, and that is the fact that there are a lot of people on this channel who have 0 hours of sleep for days, personally I have had several days with 0 hours of sleep but for me they last one day, the next day I fall asleep and sleep for over 6 hours. My question is specific because I read on the internet that in fatal insomnia, the inability to sleep causes dementia and ultimately death. Since I have read many times in the comments on your channel that people have 0 hours of sleep for ten days example does this mean that they too can develop dementia and serious health consequences with 0 hours of sleep during the day, or did I misunderstand that with fatal insomnia lack of sleep is the cause of dementia. thanks in advance
and it is precisely because of this kind of thinking that I am afraid that 10 days with 0 hours of sleep will happen to me too and that I will develop dementia or some dangerous disease, and in reality my insomnia is getting better because thanks to you I have understood how it works and how to accept a sleepless night, but I still have the fear that 10 sleepless nights will happen and that is why I have not overcome this yet

Thanks so much for the kind words, so glad our way has made sense 😊 And as for FFI and SFI, it’s NOT that lack of sleep causes health issues, it’s that these are neurodegenerative disorders that in themselves cause dementia. As you point out, if little sleep caused health issues… many of us would have them!
@@thesleepcoachschool8192 Thank you very much for your reply, I just want to say that thanks to you and your clips, the fear of not sleeping has started to disappear and that I've been sleeping for at least 8 hours the last few nights, even better than I've ever slept in my entire life. And I am very disappointed that today's medicine has a completely wrong approach to insomnia, unlike your wonderful perspective on all this.
Thank you very much for your answer, I just want to say that thanks to you and your videos, the fear of not sleeping has started to disappear and that I have been sleeping at least 8 hours a night lately, even better than I have ever slept in my entire life. And I am very disappointed that today's medicine has a completely wrong approach to insomnia, unlike your wonderful perspective on all this.
I think something clicked for me last night. If i'm not scared and just spend the night, even late hours enjoying myself (like i use to before insomnia hit me) i relay the message to my brain that there is no danger. and So the brain doesn't hit the brakes. It's paradoxical because if it's like 1am then i do have less time for sleep but on the other hand it sends the brain a stronger massage of "it's chill BRO, no worries mate!".
Yes, yes exactly, very well said and so glad this came to you 😊
Your app really helped me slowly get back to “normal.” Last 2 weeks I actually slept pretty perfectly, but I’ve found myself wanting to try and maintain it and have found myself being protective over my sleep again, therefore taking an hour or two to fall asleep again. Is this quite common? I guess a speed bump!
So so glad to hear it helped 😊! And yes, it’s very common and normal, and as you point out - speed bumps happen when we start trying to protect sleep. Very insightful. When we see this, we naturally try less to protect sleep and then it happens effortlessly again
I'm taking treatment and also following Daniel's each and every teachings but from last two days im travelling and i haven't slept in 2 days. I was doing well before, getting my 7-8 hours of sleep for last two monthes, i thought i was really on the path to recovery but then, i dont sleep like normal person even now, i haven't slept in 2 days because i was travelling and i got all scared again so thought about leaving a comment. Is it a speed bump right?
Oh yes, a speed bump - which is part of recovery for sure, hang in there, learning from these bumps really helps
Hey daniel , im having insomnia for about 3 weeks now . I do sleep every night . Mostly i sleep bad from the anxiety of not beein able to sleep. My question for you is , should i stay in bed en face te fear . Or just start reading a book . I dont want to force sleep . Just beeing okay with not sleeping
Hi Tom,
Whatever feels like low energy, easy, kind… that really helps. If it feels easier to leave the bed, that’s nice, if it feels easier to stay, that’s nice.
But look at episode 452 for more. Hang in there and let us know how things go, rooting for you
@thesleepcoachschool8192 thanks for helping and answering our questions .
I feel like all my weight lifting and trying to build muscle is going to waste because I’m not able to properly sleep in order to actually build the muscle. I don’t know how I can be ok with that
Jaxon, we’ve had many weight lifters on our channel, check the playlist called “For athletes”, that can really help
I am now in a state of having good nights most of the time, but a sleepless night about once every 7-10 days. No matter how long I sleep, I can't get rid of the fatigue...I also have a history with burnout and not the best sleep hygiene, but I wondered if this is just what recovery looks like? Also if I try to go to bed a little earlier than usual when tired but not super sleepy, I seem to cannot sleep all night. Do I still have a long way ahead of me?
Hi Mona, so glad there’s more rarely a sleep struggle. And it can help to note that we can be really tired even when sleeping well, which can reduce the pressure to sleep.
If you check out ur playlist called unrefreshing sleep, many answers to fatigue there
@thesleepcoachschool8192 thanks for your reply, will check out! :) what do you think about the not falling asleep all night part if going to bed too early? Is this considered a speed bump or just normal part of recovery? Thank you so much for your work 🙏
Hi folks I'm just the same .I can't handle 1 night no sleep .so when I read that someone has gone 3 days or more no sleep I'm shocked .hoe folks do that .
Hang in there, when I ask guests this question of how they handled it, I always get the same answer “I don’t know, I just kind of muddled through”… we have more reserves than we know
Trust me daniel your pod cast has some great advice .I have herendous panick attacks around sleep .but hearing other stories really helps me know I'm not alone. But I'm not out. Of the woods yet coach dan
That's funny bc I'm in shock when someone says they have never experienced multiple days with no sleep
Hi Daniel is Lack of sleep cause hair loss or affect it in anyway cause I already struggle with sleep and would hate to lose my hair prematurely due to it
No evidence for this! If that was true, our students would have hair loss and they don’t!
