I thought you would have been a fan of the rolling stones Glenn 😉 This is a great camp site, fantastic drone shots and music...Views, wonderful. Thanks.
I'm having no luck trying to work out how you're filming this! I can see the shadow of some sort of attached stick at certain points, but even then, there's no trace of the stick in the actual shot(?) That bit from 10:45 - 10:55 really had me scratching my head!
You're videos are bloody excellent! I like your delivery. You talk with us rather than to us. Also you are providing an excellent reference and guide for us all. Lakeland Tourism should be paying you royalties!
It looks like he's using a wireless mic system directly under his chin, which enables him to talk more intimately as opposed to someone talking loudly into a GoPro mic at the end of a selfie stick! Its a professional approach which drastically cuts down on wind noise too!
So glad I have come across your videos! Binge watching all night now. Walking the West Highland Way soon and camping the entire way, this has inspired me.
This is got to be one of the best wild camping videos I have seen. I love the way that you have filmed this. The 360 camera is perfect for these scenarios. The editing is brilliant. I'd be interested to know which camera and software you use. First time to the Channel and I've just subbed and looking forward to other videos.
Thanks for watching and the kind comments 😊🙏 and thanks for the sub, subbed back 👍 I use a 360 camera and good ol' fashioned Premiere Pro for post production.
Excellent Glenn, thoroughly enjoyed that night out although I was a tad scared just before you went to sleep! Great you included checking the site before you left & what a cracking spot 👍 👍 👍
Just caught up with all your vids and don't change a thing with them, enjoyed every single second of them, the music, scenery, drone fotage, your knowledge, its all spot on. Keep up the top work Glenn 👌
Great Video. Very inspirational. For all the decades I've been going to The Lakes I have never wild camped there (apart from the time was chased off NT land when I was 16 ! - 44 years ago)...
Fantastic. I really have to do I high level camp. You got great weather for it too! I’ll be over in the Lakes again very soon and I can’t wait. Hotels this time though but I’m hoping to persuade my good lady to climb a few hills while we’re there.
Thanks very much Rob 🙏😊 I think hotels are the way to go for extended visits. That way you can hit the fells and have a proper shower and meal afterwards 🙌
@@Brian-om2hh It's not legal in all of England but tolerated by land owners so long as people are respectful, camp above the fell wall preferably over 350m and leave no trace.
What a fantastic camping spot and wonderful conditions. It's a fell I love and keep meaning to revisit with my photographer's eyes, I tried in winter but had to retreat back down Langstrath before I'd even reached Angle Tarn, the snow was just too deep for my dogs, knee deep on me, so they were really struggling! Great vlog man, I really enjoyed it 😊
It was an incredible place to spend the night, thank you. Those conditions sounds amazing but totally understand the necessary retreat with your dogs :-)
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed it 😊 The tech definitely helps capture those moments and places but the place itself is definitely the star of the show 😍
I know this was a while ago, but I've got to say, it is absolute quality! I am watching all of your videos and they are amazing. thank you so much for what you do. Must admit, I'd love you to go into more depth about what you used when you camped. I get it that its not that kind of video, but what I would like to know is....do you wear trail running shoes over boots? just for comfort? and if so...which ones?? but please, keep up this fantastic work with you and Finn(sp?). and why have you not got 1M subscribers???
What witchcraft is he using to allow his camera selfie stick to show up on the shadows but not be seen on the actual recording!! Amazing. Mind you I think a walk around my local park is an adventure so perhaps not for me.. But I can enjoy vicariously through the video.
Not seen anyone using the GoPro fusion yet for a wild camping lakes video...nice. works really well actually. Gives you a nice dynamic feels with panning etc . Loved it. A sub from me!
Oh my god! You should do wild camp experiences for beginners and take people with you?! Pls take me with you!! 😂. Absolutely amazing. Am trying to pluck up the courage this summer with my little boy. Got my tent and we hike a lot living in the Lake District but I just need to be brave and do it!!!! I do like your videos they are fab 👍👌
Thanks very much....you'll be fine, maybe go for a camp on a site first and see how you get on. Then try an overnight on the fell on a warm dry night 😊
That's the plan. 3 practise runs in the garden. And then off to a tarn or fell and have a night on a hot summer night. See how we do. Thank you. I really like how you showcase our beautiful Lake District. Never stop doing what you enjoy.
@@rachellatham8477 Very excited for you! You'll love it! One minor warning though, try to stay away from water if you can in the summer.... It can be a midgefest 😱
@@rachellatham8477 Yes, I would definitely move away from the tarn and also any paths. I like to be tucked away, out of sight. 50+ metres to the south of the path at Easdale would be a great spot. There are some boulders up there and some smooth flat(ish) ground 👌
Loved the video and pitch - definitely need to spend more time that side of the Lakes, beautiful. Gear question; what mic were you using with your 360 cam? Currently using the Insta360x but the sound is terrible.
Even when you're some distance from the camera the sound is good (although your breathing can be a little too audible). What wireless/wired mic system do you use with the action cam?
Hi! I'm going on my first wild camping trip in the lake District soon, however I'm super nervous about pitching in the wrong place, any recommendations? Also loved the video !
Don't be put off by the naysayers and pedants. Wild camping is a wonderful experience and can be enjoyed responsibly. Yes, wild camping is illegal in England but has, for a long time, been tolerated by land owners. So long as we all act responsibly then the land owners will continue to be tolerant. Camping by the lake shore is simply unacceptable and shouldn't be tolerated by anybody, let alone land owners. You should be looking at pitching high and well out of view of paths. Arrive late and leave early, before the first walkers arrive. Hopefully you've got a tent that isn't bright orange; natural colours are more considerate and help you blend into the environment. And finally, when you strike camp make sure your site looks the same as it did when you arrived. Do a full sweep. Hopefully I'm not teaching you to suck eggs here. I'm sick to the back teeth of these people that quote this byelaw and that website but have probably never experienced the joy of wild camping....or worse, they have wild camped but will happily deprive others of doing so. Do it, and have fun!
I had a look online and they said wild camping isn’t really allowed anywhere on Lake District unless at an approved site. How do you get round that? Did you get permission or do ppl wild-camp and do your best to leave no trace?
As a rule of thumb and as-long as you respect the land , camp out the way and on open access land you should be ok , generally people in the Lake District are okay with the idea , it’s even permitted on the Lake District national trust website
Wild camping is illegal in England but it is 'tolerated' in the Lake District so long as it's done properly. I.e. Arrive late, leave early, camp out of sight and above the fell wall and generally be respectful of others and the environment. Sadly the last couple of years has seen a huge rise in 'wild camping' with large groups of people pitching tents wherever they want, chopping down trees, lighting fires and leaving rubbish everywhere. That tolerance I mentioned will soon become intolerance. It's a real shame for those of us who like to camp for solitude and to connect with nature and who are respectful. I haven't wild camped since this video; there's no solitude there at the moment 😔
@@BlackCrag Cheers mate, my friend and I recently got into walking. we did Bow Fell, Esk Pike and Scafell from a spot down by there. Good to know that when it re-opens it might be an option. Subbed and have been catching your vlogs. Love your work and the insta is simply incredible!

I know what you mean. The source of this gill wasn't too far away but there's still no avoiding animal poo. But it's human poo that carries all the nasty bacteria so avoiding that is more important. This filter deals with it all :-)
Using the insta360 was fine and definitely had its place, up until you were swirling around talking about the camping spot. It got far too goldfish bowl like then and I had to stop. It's really disorientating and presents the views un-naturally too,
It is illegal in England but it is tolerated by land owners. When you wild camp you do it beyond the fell wall and out of sight. Arrive late, leave early and be prepared to pack up if the land owner moves you on. I always camp well out of sight of any paths and normally above 2000 ft, unlike a lot of selfish 'wild campers' that do it by the side of the road. However, thanks for the comment, hope you enjoyed the video :-)
It isn’t actually illegal, just as camping in your own garden isn’t illegal. However, if you arrived home to find someone camped in your garden without your permission it would constitute a trespass, which is a civil matter.
