    Hey man, your easy command of English, and the beautiful countryside that you rode the Vulcan through made viewing this video an absolute pleasure. I am riding my Royal Enfield Continental GT on equally beautiful roads in the South West of England, but I'm looking for a little more sophistication. Thanks to your video, I shall almost certainly buy a Vulcan S Cafe next week. Ride safe my good friend.

    I've been watching videos of the Vulcan for a while now before actually buying one 2 days ago. Your video helped me get a good idea of what I was trying to buy. To add...I have never been on a motorcycle until 2 days ago and I'm already comfortable with shifting, the throttle, as well as leaning and balancing. Granted I spent about 6 hours each day practicing those days, but great beginner bike for sure. If you treat this bike right and are careful, this bike will totally love you back. I absolutely love mine.

      Oh yeah, plenty of power for me. I can honestly say I am still gunshy with the amount of torque and power. After several weeks now, I have noticed that I need to add a windshield to cut down on the wind. I get up to 40mph and it affects handling.

      And same here XD My choices have came down to either an Indian Scout Sixty or a Kawasaki Vulcan S...and I don't think I can justify a Scout Sixty in terms of cost, but the Vulcan S seems like a really nice bike. I figure, I get my Vulcan S pay it off, have it for a while, if I still find myself going "but I want the Scout Sixty", then use the Vulcan S as a deposit. But, the Vulcan S is still a really nice bike, so who knows, I may not end up doing that.

    Beautiful area to test the Kawasaki Vulcan 650. I little too much traffic. You are correct. It is a cruiser not an adventure bike. Put a windshield, fog lights and panniers and you are set for a weekend adventure! I'd love to see the style of mirrors you suggest.

  • @turbo311
    @turbo311 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just rode one and had the SAME REACTION. Comfortable, stylish, great noise, fast, and shockingly good handling. I was exceedingly confident while riding it. Better than something like the Yamaha Bolt in performance, looks, and comfort for sure, for someone who doesn't want a HD clone anyway. I have never owned or wanted to own a cruiser and I want the Vulcan S, the Café model surely!

  • @berhautowin
    @berhautowin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Finally you gave a testride to that beast ! I bought it for the reasons you brillantly raised : cruising pleasure, to see and be seen etc... I use it everyday for commuting and filetering is definitely possible with caution. Agreed, these mirrors are hideous but way more efficient compared to other stock mirrors. Thanks man keep up the good work :)

  • @MargusMoto

    I wanna try one out so bad! It's a proper modern cruiser, which doesn't try to go back in time but rather show the future.. I like the looks a lot! =)

    I think that vintage sports car was a Jaguar Model D. I had a toy car like that once. Nice! I am still waiting for the comments on the brakes, gear change, clutch feel, dashboard, vibration, leg comfort, etc.

    This is perhaps my most favourite video on the Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 on TH-cam. I come back again and again once in awhile just to see you ride by that beautiful scenery of the beach overlooking the ocean as you ride that beautiful bike. I just started saving for one and I know I will love it for my first bike. By the way, what is that location of the beach you were at? It’s so beautiful and delightful to sightsee! Where is that at? Thank you!

    Thanks Cager. I was unaware of this model, but it's definitely worth taking a look at. I mid-size cruiser with a lot of style. I like it.

  • @mindspinn311
    @mindspinn311 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your reaction is typical of most people who ride one it would seem. This is a generally overlooked or dismissed motorcycle by almost anyone until they ride it. I own a Versys 650, it’s one of my all time favorite bikes. When I rode a Vulcan S I was VERY surprised by how good it is. The noise, the seating position, the handing... it’s a recumbent Ninja 650, not a cruiser. It just looks like a cruiser. It is in fact good engineering in practice. I want one.

    I currently ride '12 Honda Shadow Spirit 750. I sat on this bike yesterday and here were my first thoughts: seat height is about the same as the Shadow which is very low (pro), VERY lightweight (pro), seat is rock hard (con). Can't wait to take it for a test ride when the weather warms up! Thanks for the video review. Portugal looks beautiful.

  • @pjeng1
    @pjeng1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is worth mentioning that Vulcan S has a parallel-twin engine instead of a V-twin design, and therefore, it has very different control riding characteristics. When I go to very light throttle, it gets a slight vibration/shudder. Not really lugging motor and it will accelerate fine. The Vulcan S simply doesn’t like “light throttle “. It likes to be wound out and shifted around 5000 rpm. I wanted to shift at 2000 rpm and ride at 2500 to 3000 rpm and Vulcan S engine doesn’t like that (shudder and vibrate). I now shift at 4500 to 5000 rpm and cruise around 5000 rpm. It just takes some getting used to (for those who used to ride a V-twin bike).

    For people over 6 feet and heavier than 200 pounds, seat positioning and stiff suspension is a killer on the tail bone ... got mine a month ago and I can´t hardly ride for more than half an hour without pain. The bike is pretty fast for a cruiser, breaks well (got the ABS) and looks wonderful, but that all doesn't´t matter if the ride is uncomfy. After setting suspension to the softest set up and even customising the standard seat (mid reach) with microfoam cushioning did not have much of a change, so I´m trying soon the extended reach gel seat option. Fortunately I heard in the U.S. dealers can change the handle bar, footpegs and seat configuration for free ... in Europe that´s not the case

    • @bfarm44
      @bfarm44 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At 5'9" and 280 I found the suspension works great. Maybe this bike rides better with my chubby ass on it😂. This is my all time favorite. Terrible that you have to pay out for the adjustments. I ended up with the seat mid with the bars and pegs for short riders and can ride for hours without issue. Looking for small floorboards and a heel and toe shifter now

  • @TheKevphil
    @TheKevphil 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Is there any after-market solution for the low pegs (and I guess the brake and shifter)? Your lean scraped pegs very early, even to MY eyes.

  • @leeinwis

    The Vulcan S , at least the ones in the last few years , do not easily scrap pegs and that's takin corners sharper and faster than most any other cruiser.

  • @CptBrave
    @CptBrave 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hello, thank you for your insight on this bike. I might get this as my first bike & do a few years with it, I don't need anything 'harder' in performance. What are your thoughts?

    • @Ms123kill
      @Ms123kill 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cpt.Brave it has enough power. it has decent quater mile timing and 0-60mph timing. Good enough power in mid range rpm. Actually its the best budget bike. It's not sports bike obviously, its a good for touring and in city drive, best part its lighter than most cruisers and touring bikes out there.

    Those rubber bits on the mirrors are just there to protect them in transit. I had a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 and posted a video on here. It got a lot of views and one eagle-eyed viewer was able to advise me to take them off.

    If it wasn't for that depressing 180 crank parallel twin sound I'd probably get one of these. I'm coming from an MT07 and looking for something a bit more chill but it's hard to part with the 270 crank twin sound.

    I read a tons of reviews, did few test drives and had firmly decided to buy this bike. But eventually decided to test a few alternatives before the purchase. Then I test drove NC750x and it was so much more comfortable that I bought Honda instead and never looked back. I still think it is the most beautiful small cruiser available on the market today but I wouldn't swap my NC for it.

      +4675636b596f755954 I consider the scout a cross between sport bike and cruiser hence sport cruiser. It has a modern liquid cooled engine unlike the air cooled bigger Indians so you can rev the throttle high in low gears. 100hp and easy to ride. Fun bike! I hope they become more available in Europe soon.

    THis or honda rebel 500? new to riding, only car-driving experience

    • @motoryzen
      @motoryzen 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely the vulcan s. Why? Although gas mileage is alittle bit better on the rebel ( isn't that much different, ) the vulcan s is much more comfortable.
      The rebel 300 and 500 have the exact same leg/stance, and UNLESS your leg inseam is 28 inches or shorter..You're going to be cramped. I know I am on my rebel 300 ( 32 inch leg inseam here.,.,5 foot 9)
      That vulcan s ( as of at least the 2016 or 2017 model) has adjustable handlebars and front peg/rearbrake/gear selector assemblies ( they can move some front and back..) which REALLY makes that bike very applicable to a variety of people sizes.
      Also, the seat on the vulcan is MUCH better and the vulcan s has a FAR better display assembly with more stuff ( as of either 2016 or 2017..it also has a gear indicator)

    Very pretty but in my opinion it needs more power, if they made a Vulcan S1000 or S1300 version I would probably sell my R6 and get one of those.

      Fuck yeah, with a ninja/versys 1000 engine tuned in the same way as the 650 was tuned for this-- but this bike was aimed at the beginners, too, you gotta keep in mind
      That'd be bloody excellent man, there's fair demand for it but I don't think it'll happen because of their big line of touring bikes and other lines already

    How does this compare to the Honda CTX700? I'm debating between them for my next motorcycle. I'm mostly looking for comfort and commuting (currently ride an R6).
