Darkseid’s true form is a 6th dimensional being as large or larger than the universe itself. Any given universe is like a bird game, and seeking the anti-life equation is essentially a win condition for him. It’s like asking why someone playing a board game didn’t just tear the board in half and eat all the pieces.

I can't stand the Grant Morrison Darkseid- avatar agent thing. It undermines years of continuity without enhancing it and even other writers have said they don't consider that cannon (ie Dan Jurgens).
