  • A lot of what we become as human beings is about how we were parented.
If your parents are the ones who made these mistakes, I hope these perspectives help you look at those mistakes objectively, and then make your choices.
If you are a parent, I hope you do not make these mistakes, and make sure your kids do not have to deal with this. This is the best gift we could give to our children, as parents!

    How could you forget these???
    1. Imposing their dreams upon their children or not letting their children follow their dreams.
    2. Not letting their children choose their life partners.
    3. Not accepting their children's decision to adopt a child, or have child through IVF/surrogacy.
    4. Not allowing children to live as one from LGBTQIA+ community if they recognize themselves being from this community.
    5. Not getting divorce despite being in abusive married life.
    6. Patriarchy, double standards, discrimination between the female child and the male child.
7.Not discussing family problems with children or not involving children in family discussions.
    8. Not letting their children make their own mistakes, experiment, explore and allowing them to learn.
    9. Not unlearning with time.
    10. Not discussing sex education, consent and sexual harassment, good/bad touch, male/female body, body positivity.

    1. Discuss with perents what you feel about them at least 4-5 times.
    2. if they are still the same.
    3. Take as much cash and move out of your home and start a new life.

    Hello Ankur
I would like to highlight rather add one more point which is *Financial Dependency*.
Our parents are financially dependent on us (like we are their retirement pension plan). There is nothing wrong with this as they were raised with same mentality where children were considered as parents pension plan due to which they provided us with everything without saving anything for themselves. So this generation or new parents need to understand that we need to work on our future savings so that we are not burden on our children. Simultaneously we should provide for our parents because they have nothing to spend on themselves also please give them money upfront so that they don't shy away from asking for money for their personal expenses.
I hope my point is clear and helpful in some or other way. Thanks. ❤️

(As any child who care for there parents would do).

My tears are rolling down while watching this… This is what I am facing in my house. Now I am standing myself to select my choice whatever the situation may be I don’t want to leave my choice. And I am a mother to my 2 year old kid I want to be a toxic free parent to my kid. I have decided this when my child was 6months and Iam following it. Now i am facing this toxic with my parents.. Hope I can win my choice with all the strength.
    Great words Mr.warikoo Ji.
This was the first video Iam watching yours definitely I will watch every video of yours from now.
Thank you thank you sooo much for making this video. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The '11 harsh truths' are entirely correct, especially when it comes to the accountability part.
But I think there are still many parents out there who beat their children, just because they did something which is not acceptable according to them.
Maybe this can comprise the 12th harsh truth.

You missed the biggest mistake - making us invested in FDs/PPF and crappy insurance ulips/endowment plans, without understanding the impact of inflation.
Also, for many parents, raising a child is like 'bhudape ka Sahara banega', hence they try to control their children at every point of life, even when they r grown up.
And, if they have more than 1 child, they will pick their fav.

@@shivanshuoliyhan but the real problem is they become fully dependent on their children. I have seen our tenant family where Uncle has his own house, his own investment. His children has jobs and they lives together happily because Uncle never demands a single ruppee from his children, and they lives happily. Stop depending on your children and they will always be your "budhape ki sahara". When you forcefully make them to become this kind, they will never become your "budhape ki sahara".

You can also add this to list:
Between children, there is always a procrastinator and an active doer. The parents keep their hopes on the doer but keep pampering the procrastinator whose used to impulsive self benefiting decisions. The doer feels left out, less loved and the procrastinator never grows up to know the realities and accountability. Ultimately, the procrastinator’s responsibility is on the doer which makes him resentful of the parents and the sibling

I am 34, not yet a parent standing in the middle where I can realise both sides of being a parent and a child. This content will run deep in the blood of both parents and children. I thank each of you along with Ankur for adding those eye opening examples. I hope this video will bridge the gap between a parent and a child.
I will go and hug my parents after watching this video as now I feel that neither the parents nor the child is wrong, it's just that time flies and change is a constant thing.

I am getting exhausted now. Last year I attended 4 relatives and 2 neighbours. I have told them not to give people my number and please don't send them to my home.

Oh! I don't think that "ye unki galtiya bhi nahi hai". My father is an expert in drinking. Right from my childhood(i.e. from the time when I started understanding things), I have seen my father's expertise in just two things:
    1. Drinking.
    2. Quarreling with my mother for reasons which make so sense(the quarrels usually last upto about 4-5days, or even may be longer). It sometimes gets to a point when my father beats my mother.
I have tolerated this behaviour for 20 years(am 22 years old now). Just imagine the IMPACT THAT IT HAD ON MY BRAIN.
I also had an argument with my father, which turned into a quarrel and do you know what he did?? He threw a stand fan at me, luckily it didn't hit me, the fan broke. My mother got between us, he pushed my mother and she fell. Such is his behaviour that he didn't stop even when my mother got in between us and didn't even have that sympathy to pick her up when she fell.
My father is 60. He still drinks and I can't convince him, because when my grandmother(who is no more now) failed to convince him to leave drinking when I was just a baby(my mother told me this), WHO THE HECK AM I TO CONVINCE HIM.
FUNNY! I don't even feel any remorse for him when I am saying all this.
    FUN-FACT: He is well-educated man.
I didn't want to write this, but I am so angry that I can't stop myself.

Great video. You covered almost many things. Basically, give them Independence from very beginning of their life, start with letting them choose color of toys, clothes ( give them choices, if they are not able to decide). Start with small things then going to bigger things. Guide them but let them make mistakes don't scold them for every mistake but teach them to let go and forgive and tell them to learn from their mistakes.

And whenever we differ, we used to tell them that yes, you can do /act what you like but then be ready for whatever the consequncies arise with your action. Of course this discussion was a nice discussion, not a threat! Many a times it happened that after thinking over the matter our sons would do what we had suggested, but it was with their understanding, not taking that as our command! :-D
