Best words I've ever heard on the topic of parenting.
Sometimes Parents need to make decisions which their child doesn't agree with but they should always include their children in decisions which affect them. Many parents think they listen to their kids when in fact what they are really doing is telling their kids what to think. They conflate respect and obedience when the two are entirely separate concepts

Most will misunderstand the deep truth of this sage advice.
In western countries they let their children go to work and earn their money, makes the child independent. Even better, I feel, introduce them to success philosophy which they can understand at their pace. Most children have learned behaviour, which is what they learn looking at their parents, we cannot teach what we do not possess. Let them learn from able masters.
He is so correct! I try to practice this with my kids and so far it is working well. It builds confidence and a sense of self.

Typical Truth, but ‘easier said than done’ in the current generation of so unsafe, unstable and judgemental people around!
Hope things would change with more practicality and sensible enough if the future generation kids are lucky /blessed enough.
But sadly most parents take us as their property..I am being beaten up throughout my childhood for marks & mentally abused too & all by parents..They r frustrated & if I m going for playing, they slapped me-this was the regular scene..Indian parents suck..sorry but not sorry…

He is not wrong. Children become adults and those adults be the way they were treated in their childhood. If his daughter is well behaved then it must be because he was a good father, it must be because he never was toxic with his daughter. Listen, parents need to accept this.
