Crappie in STACKS! Slab DADDIES! (Fish Ohio) Lake Logan State Park

- Today I did some crappie fishing. Started off in the with a yum 2in grub in white/live minnows. Didn’t have much luck finding sizable fish at all. Well other then bass. After about 3-4 hours of crappie fishing I finally found the fish! I was using by that point a Bobby Garland baby shad(Chartreuse/Red Glitter) with a 4X4 jig head.

Lot of anglers out yesterday because of the stockings. I found one crappie by accident fishing for cut bait. Fish was almost that long but he had just come off his bed and was paper thin. Still had his dark spawning colors too. Probably should have fished for more but I needed some catfish nuggets. Hit some pretty decent slabs there. Those ore the ones you want to keep a few and let the rest go for breeders. Fish on.👍
Oh yes! There were people out everywhere yesterday for sure! Where did you end up going?
@@dustinc30 my buddy rich wanted a big carp for his first trip so we went to fairgrounds. He did get one smaller carp and a few catfish. I actually got the big one. A fewk bass and I filled my freezer back up with nuggets. Let that crappie go by the way. Those bigger ones. Like I've said seems like when I'm not fishing for em I find em. Last one. Before this one I got On a shallow diving crankbait.

Those ones that I used in that video were Bobby garlands. 2.25 inch
@@dustinc30 Nice! I usually use the squid-like ones with the red heads and white or green skirts. Get in a kayak and trawl down the creek and I'm bound to hook a few!

Terry Young I appreciate that man! I agree with you there about understand them for the most part and finding the fish! A lot of time studying what they like and trying all sorts of baits/colors depending on the temperature and light!

Not sure yet. Im only into bass fishing but the guy i just bought a boat from said he would love for me to take him crappie fishing so whenever he says he is ready to go we will go.
I been watching videos on the panoptix live scope that came on the boat i had no idea how to work them when i tried yesterday but i think i know where to start now so we should be able to see fish swimming around and know where to cast but not sure if im gonna know how to identify if they are bass or crappie until we practice. Usually bass only stack 3 or 4 high on traditional down-scan and crappie will be a lot more on top of each other from what i have seen on youtube but i will try and figure it out when i get out on the water

Well I was going to do some real estate work tomorrow and as I unhook the boat I just couldn't do it...hooked it back up and charged everything I'm going at 6:30 in the morning🤷🏻♂️

One year in one of my ponds we caught so many crappie. It's about 14 acres. We caught 10-12 that we weighed to be over 3 pounds! One was almost the state record! It think it was 4.2lbs. but that day we(me, my dad, and brother) caught I think it was 217 crappie. So we stocked all the other ponds😂
Wow that sounds like some monsters! Where you recording back then? I unfortunately just started this year. Missed a lot of them in my past
@@dustinc30 no I wasn't. I wish I had been. I only started this year too. I wish I had some of the fish I've caught on video. We've gone out and caught who knows how many sharks and even caught a thresher shark. We got it to the boat then it whipped it's tail and cut the line. Last spring my dad caught a 13 pound bass when fishing right next to me. But yeah some awesome fights I wish I had on video. But also I'm 14 so hopefully plenty more to come!

i have a 16 in crappie on my wall thought i had the state record wasn't close its was 3lbs state record was 4.6lb
