I had one of those clutches put in my wife’s new Roadglide 3 and it has worked flawlessly for over 6000 miles with the adjustment checked once at the 1000 mile service

Yeah ive been thinking the recluse would be nice but you still need to shift with your foot. If the clutch is a problem just install one of those one finger clutch pulls. I would like to try that Africa Twin DCT. That bike you can set it to automatically shift so its basically a twist of the throttle.

Thank you for helping me decide to not get that clutch pack. Money saved. I was debating on it and seeing and hearing about the problems. I will stick with the ole faithful clutch packs that work every day every time. My wallet and I thank you.

I had thst clutch in my trike for three years iI used it only in firdt gear to free my hand to show my id at the gate. Disadvantage was parking in gear rolled. In heavy traffic was a blessing in 1st once again. It finslly went out now using my original clutch

One of the guys i ride with works in the city, daily traffic jams. He put one in his Street glide . Had to adjust it once so far right after breakin. I think the centrifugal (minibike clutch) part has a break in adjustment required also. He’s very happy with it after about 5k . His doesn’t drag at all at idle. Not sure why yours did? And yes, I do now occasionally refer to his bike as a minibike! Especially when he’s grinning at me in stop n go traffic like the last time we rode thru Jackson’s Hole…
Ride well and ride on !

I been considering a rekluse auto clutch for my 24 RG. I know a guy in SC who has it, and he said once it's dialed in, it's perfection. I understand they are hard to get dialed in though, and you really need to find someone with a lot experience with them. My understanding is that its only meant for first gear, and you should still be using the clutch for shifting gears - it's only really meant for 1st gear and crawling, to free up the clutch hand from cramping.

Used them years ago racing offroad. Worked nice if right. Met one of the guys that designed it. Was told that they tested every oil and Rotella oil worked better than anything. I know it still has zinc in it since it is designed for diesel engines. FYI

NO! The recluse is not the same as a dct! The recluse is a centrifugal clutch. You should disengage the clutch to shift gears. You can shift by blipping the throttle but it can be hard on your transmission. I have run a recluse in my RK with no problems for three years. There are cons but you didn’t cover it. Like parking the bike on a hill. The pros are slow or stop and go traffic doesn’t give your forearm a workout. Yours was obviously not set up correctly because you do not have to adjust it all the time.

    • @TheDankh
      @TheDankh 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

That's my understanding as well - its meant really just for first gear and 'crawling' to free up the clutch hand cramping. It does have to be setup correctly, and vary few guys know how to do it (it seems).

Don't think I would be a big fan of that clutch either. What brand of clutch was in the Honda maybe look into that if you need to rework it in the future. Just my 2 cents. Might get to see you this year but not on two wheels. Which I'm not real happy about.

i have had rekluse clutches in 4 different bikes. several friends run them also. none of us has ever had that issue. my guess would be install issue. some of these kits work on different models. could just be wrong spacer. once mine installed..... never needed adjusted again, for several years.

I am paralyzed in my left hand. I found a company called efm out of Ohio that makes custom auto clutches. I put one in a vstar 1100 so I could ride again. Similar to the rekluse but a different design. It works but as with anything there's pro's and cons. Personally I'd prefer a standard clutch but I no longer have that option

DCT costs considerably more and weighs more and is much more complicated to repair.
On motorcycles a sequential shift manual transmission and wet manual clutch is so easy to use I don't see any reason to change that.
I have thought about building a drag bike or a hillclimber with a snowmobile motor and a variable belt transmission . I used to pay $48.00 for a snowmobile belt now they are like $130.00 BIdenflation is not good.
If I was going to buy a side by side I would go with a Yamaha.. which actually is a DCT just like the Honda motorcycle over a Belt Drive like a Polaris or Can Am .. The Yamaha side by side is not auto shift though it has a paddle shifter you shift with your fingers.
I would love to put a Sequential shift Transmission in my Camaro but they are $15,000.00 or more .

@@adamsandoval I see NASCAR is using a Transaxle now. All the car Chassis are cookie cutter chassis made by the same company to supposedly keep costs down. They are not as safe as the previous generation chassis when they hit the Wall. Many drivers are not happy about them. Now you have to buy a Charter to get into NASCAR Stewart Haas has three charters for sale. They Tony Stewart who married Leiah Prichard.. the Top Fuel Drag racer. Tony also owns Eldora Speedway, a famous Dirt Track in OH. Geene Haas the other Partner is having more fun running his Formula -1 Team. Rodger Penske owns the Indianapolis Speedway now. He owns a huge Trucking Compnay .. Penske Truck Rentals and Leasing and he even owns and operates warehouses for Kroger. I bought Detroit Diesel from GM and saved the Company buy building a Diesel engine that had successful electronic controls necessary to meet the new EPA Emissions and get the best Fuel Economy back the days of the Series 60 Diesel truck engines. He has since sold that Company too. He used to own Michigan International Speedway .

I definitely know what I’m talking about as I have had both. But I think you are misunderstanding. Clearly it does not change the transmission, you can not do that by changing a clutch. But it does make it to where you do t have to clutch to change gears “like” an automatic transmission.
