When I moved from Louisiana to Oklahoma which was a little over 400 miles with terrible road conditions most of the time because I wanted to avoid the traffic on the main roads I rode the entire way on a kawasaki 250 klr in a thunderstorm

My Old Dirt, Gravel, Sand, Rock, mud, sugar and even powdered sugar riding days are over so The T.A.T is out but I do want to ride the area of Moab on the pavement. Then leave Utah and go up through Wyoming down through Colorado down into Oklahoma and then you know my destination once I get into Oklahoma. Adam you, Ashley, Freddy, Matt Logan and Doc did great on the T.A.T. know matter what it through at you, you took care of it and kept rolling. Just like our Military, they never quit. and you didn't either. really liked the video and watching.

I commend you on your willingness to take on the sand aboard a heavy bike. Once you get the hang of it, the sand is really fun. You steer the bike with the throttle and the rear wheel by pushing it out with your inner thighs/knees. Lean back and keep the front tire floating on top of the sand. The faster you’re able to go, the easier it gets. Like water skiing. I ride an XR650R. That bike will take just about anything the western US can dish out.

I'm riding a WR250R and so far this trip I have ridden 28 states and over 15k miles. I have ridden 400 mile days with no problem but i prefer sub 300 mile days. There's no issue riding long distance on a well equipped 250cc unless you are in a big hurry or severely over packed lol. I do not ride highways.

Hmm I have no clue where you are talking about on the "northern Nevada, southern corner of Utah?? If you look at the map the two states are side by side and their northern borders are exactly the same. The TAT leaves utah and enters nevada at Baker which is just south of halfway down utahs wester border, then diagonals across northwesterly to Mcdermott. So not sure where this 60 miles of sand was as we surely missed it!

I am planning to do cost to cost, East to West on a 2007 KLR 650 (solo). Will I meet others on the trail that are willing to help if/when I go down or get a flat?

I'm gearing up for the TAT, my 15 yr old son and I will begin doing sections this summer. I'm looking into maps and watched your video on whose man to use, Sam or gpskevin. I have yet to find which maps you chose. Help me out, the suspense is killing me! Which maps? (I'm leaning toward Sam's)

The miles per day boils down to the rider. I’ve done 1100 miles in 24 hours on a BMW S1000RR, so 200-300 miles per day on a 250 dual sport is easy going. My buddy rides cruisers and doesn’t do more than 100-200 miles per day on the highway, so it would be misery for him.

Yes, but he’s talking about the TAT, 150-180 miles is a big day for the TAT, on the west end.
