Kellytoy Sonic The Werehog Unreleased Plush Prototype - History & Showcase

- The Kellytoy Sonic plush line is one of the most basic Sonic plush sets out there. With a standard set of standard plushes, you wouldn't think it'd be that interesting right? Well, turns out the Kellytoy lore runs deep, as many of their plushes have gone unreleased. We've known about their cancelled Cheese The Chao plush for awhile, but the Kellytoy plush rabbit hole goes much further than we once thought. In this video, I showcase a never before scene prototype of the Kellytoy Sonic The Werehog plush, as well as a sample Amy Rose plush with an interesting tag. Along with that, I talk about their cancelled Nintendo plushes, including a never before seen Yoshi plush.

I actually kind of like the fact that this still exists. Sonic Unleashed is one of my favourite games and knowing that a prototype of the main thing of that game. Yeah sure, he's DARK GREEN and I do own the Jazzwares Werehog, but it's still cool. I like the grey Jazzwares Werehog because it's different and awsome.
Anyway, can I refer to you as a plush bounty hunter? You're always searching for those prototypes and rare plushes.

This is a really cool finding indeed! and maybe it is true that this Werehog plush wasnt released because how lukewarm the reception for the Werehog and Unleashed were back when it released, its a shame since this is a good looking plush, its not very detailed or even accurate yes but its quite nice too look at.
The odd choice of colors for the different versions of Werehog plushes maybe is because people didnt had much images of the werehog aside from the ones showed back at E3 when the first real gameplay of Unleashed was shown, Sega didnt showed too much of the Werehog until they unveiled him at that point, so maybe this 2 Werehog with odd colors are because the companies didnt had much reference to work with and used the little images they could find about him, like the Hasbro one i think used that colors because the Wii/PS2 version of the Werehog at least it looks like that version more than the PS3 one and the most images you could find about it was with the Wii/PS2 version, there were some PS3 in game screens yeah but they didnt had a definitive lighting that you could tell its real colors right, that's why the Kellytoy maybe has those colors, it looks more when Sega released that beta trailer were you can see the Werehog fighting in Savanna Citadel at night, it looks more like that than its regular colors that's why the third one has its colors right.

I put those images in to catch the attention of Pokemon collectors haha, glad to see it worked! I was really shocked to see those pop up. I actually got the Magby there (it was like, 50 cents which is probably insane idk how valuable that one is) for a friend as I know it's a harder to find one. It had the standard final tush tag sadly, if it had a sample tush tag I would have flipped out lol. Unfortunately those three Pokedolls were the only ones to show up, so maybe they were just fluke plushes, but maybe they were made at the same factory? The boxes had some other non-Kellytoy items, such as a BD&A Donkey Kong, but that makes more sense to be there than Pokedolls, so it's a real mystery why they were there! And thank you!
I would've LOVED those CN plushies as a kid. Chowder, flapjack, Cheese from imaginary friends, ect were some of my favorite characters at the time
It actually makes me really happy to know Kellytoy takes pride in their work. It's be easy to fall into cynicism - they're just carnival prizes made to be as cheap as possible to crank out by the truckload, why care? But they do. And I like that.

OMG I have one of those Super Sonic plushes!!! :O It got left outside once so the shiny was mostly removed so it now looks like hyper sonic. I still have it to this day!

Are the regular characters anything rare now? Because I remember going to a theme park and seeing the sonic, shadow, and tails, but I sadly lost the game.

Here’s my guess on why silver is metallic originally there would be a second wave with some new characters like the werehog and metallic variants of the characters but they wanted to see if the public would like these so they made super sonic and silver metallic with plans to make non metallic variants in a second wave however the second wave never got released and only the metallic variants of sonic and tails and the werehog were made but that’s just my guess

9:38 growing up my uncle and aunt sold toys to Tjmaxx and Marshalls. They would get sample toys to show to diffrent stores- most toys were thrown away after because the quality was just for show. But my siblings and I got a ton of them! Mostly trucks, forgin Barbie dolls, and groovie girls.
Most of the dolls I had had that same sample tag!
Maybe the one you bought was brought home for an employees child and they grew out of it!

That is so cool! I really wish Cheese made it in the Sonic line because that would have made the Sonic Kellytoy line better IMO. Super Sonic is cool, but that material fades easily. If you want to know of a prototype you don't own, my brother (Biscuit298) has a one of a kind prototype Toy Network Sonic plush. My parents were able to get it under $10 for him as a Christmas present. I am unaware of its history, but by the looks of it, it was close to the final product.
