    I’ve ridden from Clearwater through to Starkey hundreds of times. It’s is a great ride. I do different sections at a time. The wild life is amazing. Be especially careful of snakes that cross the trail. I’ve seen Water Moccasins, Diamond Backs and Black Racers. If you ride weekdays it’s not very busy. On weekends it can be busy in Clearwater, Dunedin, Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs.

    The building you rode by in Starkey Nature Preserve (and the other ones you might have noticed) are pump buildings. The Preserve also serves as a flood control basin.

    Great video. Thanks for sharing your adventures. I live just a few miles from South Lake Trail and West Orange Trail. Ride them often. As you said, Lake County is very hilly. I can't wait to do the entire C2C Trail. I'm guessing the most of it outside Lake County is somewhat flat.
    Looking forward to your next adventure!

    I used live on 1st Street which you only showed on your video for a second but I live on the other side of that bridge now and I've been waking up every weekend trying to motivate myself to go over it but I just don't trust the Tampa St Pete drivers on that bridge so you're very brave. One critique you took 1st Street all the way down if you would have made a left on the coffee pot one block over you could have been along the water which is a nice view would have added maybe an extra MI to the start of the Pinellas Trail but you would have gone all along the water's edge and seen the St Pete Pier. Great video

      Tampa/St.Pete is a beautiful area to live, so many great trails to ride. I had no idea, the next time I go and check out the pier, thanks. It was relatively safe to go over the bridge because it had the bike lane all away. It's as safe as any other road with a bike lane.

    Dunedin is the best! Pronounced by locals “Done-Eden,” it is full of local breweries and good restaurants. For breakfast, I would have recommended the Wild Iris, but I understand you wanted something faster. There are several quick service places right up against the trail, a coffee shop to the north of the city and even a grilled cheese shop near the old railway station.

    I thought you might have rode it again but, I recognized parts of your vid. I am going to be riding the C2C next month sometime for my 1st time. Since I live in mid NE Pinellas, I am just going to have somebody dropped me off in St. Pete and then, for the 1st day I will ride Pinellas Trail and then go home and rest for a day and then leave for Clermont after a good day of rest. People are saying there is too much construction going on on SR-50 to Clermont to ride on the road now so, I'm going to have to probably ride on that Loggers Rd to get to Clermont if my wheels can roll on it.

    • @FollowThomas
      @FollowThomas  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pinellas Trail is beautiful especially after Clearwater but the beginning of trail St. Pete section has a lot of road crossings so it slows you down. If I would do it again I would probably start from Clearwater instead. You live in a great spot, you can stay at home on the first night. You could ride WMA gravel/sandy roads if you have 40 mm tires or above to pass SR 50. There is one more short confusing part after Winter Haven where you have no trail and have to ride sidewalks to get through but that's maybe 2 miles only. The rest of the ride is a nice paved trail.

    • @Phonamana
      @Phonamana 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FollowThomas I will just ride the Pinellas Trail a couple of days ahead and mark it on the route. I used to live on the West side of Pinellas and the trail was behind my back yard. The last overpass was South of me in Ozona. I know what you mean by there is a lot of stops in that South part. I can't really complain because we have trails here unlike Tampa who only has a couple of unfinished shorter trails.
      I am nervous about riding the C2C because I've never gone on a long journey or camped out while cycling. I don't think that I will be camping out this time. I've ridden three centuries in my life and within the last 5 years. I've come close to riding a couple of more getting around 80 some miles but, I it was late and I just wanted to get home. None of my Centuries were planned. I am in my low 50s now. I wanted to ride across Florida for the last 5 years. I couldn't ride Coast To Coast before because I was taking care of my Mom and I didn't have 5 days Free to complete it. I didn't think about just riding Pinellas Trail and getting 50 miles out of the way and then riding the rest until recently. You are right that I could just leave from my house and skip all of the stops and overpasses on the West side. My Mom recently passed and I told her that I would ride across Florida in her honor when she was gone and that's why I am finally going to do this. It will be in her honor. I think I am pretty lucky because I have friends along the way and I think I can stop and visit them while passing through their town.
      I hear a lot of people saying now that they are riding the C2C now which is like the season for riding it in January because the weather is nice for it. When it gets hotter, I don't hear much about anybody riding across Florida. It was a brutal summer last year here in Florida. I think you go on adventures more up North when it gets hotter to get away from the heat.
      Thanks for the video and the tips on the dirt roads and what size tires I need. I am going to drive up the Withlacoochee Trailhead this week or next and check out what's going on between there and Clermont on SR-50. The last time I was there was in January of last year and the cement trail went passed US301 but, I don't know how far.

    Hi Thank you for posting this amazing video. There seems to be some confusion with the days ..day 2 is twice and don’t see day 3 also day 1 start in Clearwater to Tampa and day 02 goes back to Clearwater???

    • @FollowThomas
      @FollowThomas  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I see the mistake in RWGPS route link description. Day 2 was named twice but the link itself was correct Day 3. I started my ride from Tampa Amtrak Station and rode to the beginning of C2C in St. Petersburg and continued to Clearwater, that's where I started the Day 2. I think that's what made it confusing. Everything should be correct now.
